The Laurels Residential and Nursing Home

The home has been very welcoming to Mum. They have taken the time to get to know her and support her needs. The staff are always approachable and very caring!

The home is very cold at times - needs to have the temperature checked. (Cold in the room also) Activities are very good for residents. The food is very good. Communication is not always done effectively.

Visited my mother on her 101st Birthday. Only the second visit this year due to covid and I live in Wales. Very pleased with the care she receives but disappointed that her room hasn't been updated since she first went there. Also disappointed in the state of the gardens. Could do with a gardener- we pay enough. More than satisfied with the care from the staff.

The staff are very friendly. They always help if needed. The room is clean and tidy.

My friend has been in the home for a couple of years now and if it was left to her she would stay in bed all day, thankfully she is regularly taken to join the other residents for some company. There are always mid-morning drinks brought to her when she does choose to stay in bed. The staff are always very cheerful with residents and visitors alike.

I am happy with the care my mum receives at The Laurels. There is a good range of activities and a varied menu. The staff are always supportive and helpful and keep me informed about any changes to my mums care, needs/condition. My mum has a nice room which she has been able to choose the decor for.

I am happy that my daughter is safe and cared for and all help has been given to me during this very difficult time. Appointments have been made and visits have been made as personal as possible with privacy and respect. The staff have treated my daughter with respect and kindness. Thank you very much to all the staff.

Communication has improved but would be great to know more about what is happening. (activities if any treatments have happened etc) the rooms are lovely, all clean, tidy and decorated well. I think it's good value for money.

Friendly staff, super hygiene.

My husband has received excellent care whilst being in The Laurels. The manager is very helpful and the staff I have spoken with. I am unable to comment on the activities and facilities as due to the Covid restrictions it is not possible. The carer who takes the lateral flow tests is always very friendly.

Whilst myself and my family have been unable to visit my mum during this period, the staff have been great with information via phone calls. We have also been able to hand in anything mum needed at the main door. The staff have done a fantastic job during this difficult time.

During lockdown, I have never felt I was being a nuisance by ringing for an update and we have felt included despite no visits.

My husband suffered with Parkinson's disease and, although he became very foetal, the staff treated him with great respect and love and made him as comfortable as possible. There were issues with medication supplies from time to time - this needs attention. The staff were very kind and cheerful and made me welcome on my daily visits. My husband enjoyed his jokes with the staff.

My uncle has been a resident at the Laurels for two years. He settled in very well, and the staff made him very welcome. He always looks smart and clean when he is up and about. He enjoys most of his meals, especially the puddings. He likes to see the children when they visit. His room is kept clean and tidy. Staff are always willing to tell us if there are any concerns concerning my uncle.

We cannot commend the staff enough. Sadly she passed away in September but their support to us continued. Special thanks to the activities coordinator in particular.

I can't thank the staff enough for their care and kindness towards my mother. Throughout her time at The Laurels, she was treated with the utmost respect and dignity. We thought the default of the doors being open unless requested to be closed made the people feel open and friendly, allowing care staff to pop in and say hello which is what my mum loved. The food also looked amazing, with an eye for detail to make it perfect for each resident. My mum's likes and dislikes were listened to.

From what I have observed, care seems good. The staff are cheerful, welcoming and concerned for the people they look after.

Mum always looks clean and contented. Staff are friendly and smiling. If we ask for something it's done instantly. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Muk's room is pleasant, clean and comfortable.
