Our father has stayed at Aylesham Court for respite care several times, allowing us to have holidays secure in the knowledge that he is safe and very well cared for. Before we found Aylesham Court - we had looked at several care homes, none of which, I would have been comfortable placing a loved one
in. When we first viewed Aylesham Court, I was utterly thrilled by the homely atmosphere, the welcoming and friendly staff, the happy residents, the cleanliness and the evident care ethic (not to mention the platters of freshly prepared fruit and homemade biscuits) - I booked respite care for my father there and then. We have never been disappointed with his care or any aspect of his stays at Aylesham Court. Focussing on his recent stay - he was welcomed back by the staff - he was happy to be back as he referred to Aylesham Court as his second home. Whilst he was there, his health suddenly deteriorated - he passed away peacefully in his sleep with dignity. We can not thank all the staff enough for taking such good care of him.

Earlier today my sister died in the home and I wanted to put down my thoughts while fresh in my mind.
Without going into details my sister had been placed in a home that was totally inappropriate for her needs. After a few days, we realised that fact and urgently sought to find an alternative ourselves.
We were massively lucky in contacting Aylesham Court and there being a vacancy. From the outset, the standard of care and communication has been beyond exemplary and everyone concerned has made my sister’s last days as comfortable as possible.
Having seen several homes in the last few months, I can honestly say that; Aylesham Court shines out as how a care home should be run. The dedication and attention to detail shown by the management was reflected in every member of staff.

Aylesham Court is an outstanding nursing home with dedicated and compassionate staff who are totally committed to their patients and their welfare. My husband died in the home last week and I could not have wished for better care for him, and me also, during this difficult time. Absolutely outstanding!

My mum was a resident for 18 months at the home. She was cared for and loved by all the staff.
She was very happy at the home and felt very safe and loved.
She was terminally ill and in a lot of pain but she never felt alone and neither did our family.
My mum's nurses were wonderful and always knew
what my mum wanted and needed.
The managers were always supportive, very caring and listened to any concerns towards the end of my mum's life as we were upset and needed a shoulder to lean on and nothing was ever too much trouble.
Mum and I had some very special relationships at the home and we will never forget.
I couldn’t have wished for a nicer place or staff for my mum to spend her last moments with, even at her funeral the ladies were there to say goodbye and show their love for her.
Thank you my lovely ladies and chaps, you know who you are, and thank you for your love and kindness to my special darling Mum.
I will never forget you all.

My mother has settled well at the care home. She is treated with respect and kindness. The staff are very efficient and friendly.
The care home has varied entertainment and outings. The care home take on board the resident's ideas for the home and outings.
My mother does not always enjoy the food
on offer - it is not always to the same good standard, although alternatives are always offered.
Reply from Greta Narbutaityte, Customer Adviser at Aylesham Court Care HomeThank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are very happy to hear you can finally feel at ease with your mother in our care. However, we are concerned to hear about the food. This will be taken on board so we can look into improving our service.

We had put my mum into a care home, nearly a year ago which was the hardest decision we made.
Aylesham Court is by far the best we looked at. My mum has grown from strength to strength due to the excellent care from staff and active management team who really cares about people's individual needs.
There
is always some form of entertainment, appropriate to the resident's needs where there is fun, laughter and staff that understand and care about my mum, often speaking when they walk by or pop in to speak in her room. Lovely home.

Aylesham Court is the best care home that we looked at in Leicestershire. Whenever you come, it feels friendly and a home from home with nothing being too much trouble. The reception area is lovely and it doesn't feel like a care home with flowers, books of activities, photos and comfortable chairs
to sit on. The home feels like an extension of our family, staff are all lovely, food good and information shared in a confident way. Love the idea of family resident meetings where views are shared by all and residents respected.

My husband was a resident from January to February 2019. Prior to that time, he was in hospital for several months. The family were so pleased to get him to Aylesham Court where he was extremely well cared for. Nothing was too much trouble for all of the staff. Communication was obviously a key factor
in the management of the home as everyone knew exactly what was happening regarding his care, how he was feeling, eating etc. The food was delicious.
As he moved towards end of life care, the nursing care stepped up. My husband was pain-free and comfortable and my family and I were treated with immense kindness by all the staff. We will always be grateful and would whole-heartedly recommend Aylesham Court.

My mum is in the home following a hospital stay.
She is loving her stay and says that the home is a haven. She enjoys the food, feels that nothing is too much trouble and describes a sense of belonging.
The team care about the residents and I think that this comes from the top, with the manager and
her deputy listening and creating an ethos where the residents are treated like family members
Mum also thinks her room is fab......I had looked at other nursing homes and would have needed to bring in lots of things to make the room look nice. The rooms here are tastefully decorated and a pleasure to be in.
There is a buzz and vibrancy within the home, with activities to join in with, but no pressure to do so.
As both a daughter and a nurse, I wanted to give feedback and thank the team. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Aylesham Court!

I arrived at Aylesham Court after 12 days in hospital, feeling poorly, shattered and weepy. On being shown my room up in the treetops, I did shed a few tears. The staff were so kind and a cup of tea, minute sandwiches and fruit was absolutely fabulous. Calmed me down for a first night's sleep. The first
shower for over 2 weeks followed by a hair appointment the next morning made me feel as if I was back in the land of the living. I was left to my peace and quiet, delicious meals and my strength gradually revived. All the staff kind and gentle and treated me as a person.
I am truly thankful I came to Aylesham Court.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.616)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.616) out of 10 for Aylesham Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 26 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.616 for Aylesham Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (223 Excellents x 5) + (50 Goods x 4) + (22 Satisfactorys x 3) + (6 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 302 Ratings = 4.616
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Aylesham Court Care Home is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
