Aylesham Court is an outstanding home and offers a warm and welcoming environment with a wide range of care services for the elderly. Care options include nursing, residential, convalescence, respite, palliative and day care, with the ground floor dedicated to residential residents.

This purpose-built home with its well-furnished interior provides a pleasant dining room and four spacious and homely lounges where residents have the opportunity to relax and socialise. All bedrooms come with ensuite facilities and a 24-hour call system, and residents are able to personalise their room with their own furniture and personal items.

Each resident’s dietary requirements and personal preferences are taken into account, and the chef provides both cooked meals, light and cold alternatives, as well as popular homemade cakes.

Some of the many activities residents can enjoy include line dancing classes, exercise classes, baking and cooking, church services, crafts and pampering sessions, and there are also regular organised outings and trips to places of local interest.

This home is rated Outstanding by CQC (January 2022), with 'responsive' and 'well-led' being the key areas the home excels at. This means services are tailored to meet the needs of individuals and delivered to ensure flexibility, choice and continuity of care. I am very happy with the care provided to my mother. The team were very caring and understanding. I can see why the residence is CQC outstanding and concur with that assessment. I think it is unfair to ask us to consider excellent for cleanliness and food as there is always room for improvement. It
was a dignified and high-standard facility.

My mother was in for respite care and she received very good care from an accomplished and sympathetic staff. It was her first time in a home such as this and everyone did their best to help her settle.

The staff made my father-in-law feel at home from the very start of living at Aylesham Court. They catered for his every need and made us feel welcome when we visited. We had peace of mind that he was safe and comfortable during his final days and were kept informed at all times.

My Mother entered Aylesham Court for nursing care. She chose to remain there rather than move to a hospice as part of her end-of-life journey. The care and nursing staff were fantastic. At all times we felt we were listened to as mum's needs changed, never any barriers, and an understanding of her individual
needs. Mum enjoyed the interaction with the carers who were amazed at her knowledge of craft and sewing. The communication from the nursing staff meant we were able to be with mum right at the end, which has given us much comfort. The care, sensitivity and compassion from the staff was first-class. Thank you all.

My mother went to Aylesham for respite care but liked staying there so much she decided to stay permanently. Although there were a few teething problems, our concerns were listened to and acted upon. My mother enjoyed her time with the wonderful carers and nurses and taking part in the activities. On
her end-of-life journey, the support and care for my mother was exemplary and we couldn't have asked for more.

The care and nursing care at Aylesham Court is second to none. All of the staff genuinely care about the welfare, happiness, and comfort of the residents. The dignity afforded to my dear mother during her final weeks, and to our family, was outstanding and cannot be faulted. Their care and compassion
were amazing, and such comfort to the family during such a difficult time. A massive thank you to everyone at Aylesham. God bless.

My mother-in-law has been living in Aylesham Court for 3 years. She loves it there and, as a family, we love visiting her there. Without exception, the nurses, carers, and staff have been looking after her amazingly. They've seen her through a broken hip, covid, bereavement, shingles, and the onset
of vascular dementia. My mother-in-law is a very lucky lady and, as a family, we are very lucky to have Aylesham Court just around the corner.

Since Mum moved to Aylesham Court we have been very pleased, and comforted, by the high standard of care she has received. During Covid restrictions, the home allowed as much freedom and access to loved ones as possible, whilst fully protecting residents. As things have opened up, residents' activities
have been increasing and Mum has been enjoying things such as "pop-up vintage tea room" and church/religious services, as well as crafts, exercises, drinks/singalongs, bingo/dominoes and weekly entertainment from external singers/pianists etc. The care, accommodation and food choice are excellent and we would recommend Aylesham Court to anyone.

Mum has been a resident at Aylesham Court Care Home for the past 2.5 years and has recently sadly passed away. In all the time Mum was under their care the biggest compliment I can give them is: as a family, we wholeheartedly trusted the team to look after Mum. She was always treated with her best interests
at heart, with kindness, tenderness and respect.
Their care and compassion were so evident in the last few weeks Mum was with them, so attentive to her needs. Nothing was too much trouble and there were so many small thoughtful things done to make Mum's final weeks the best they could be.
Huge Thanks.

Yesterday afternoon my Mum enjoyed a trip out with two outstanding members of the team at Aylesham Court. They had decided they wished to take Mum out, in their own time, asking me, as eldest son for my consent to a shopping trip. I, of course, agreed and joined them for the best 2.5 hours I will ever
spend at Fosse Park! I wish I could have filmed the whole thing as there were so many laughs. But to see Mum, in a wheelchair, enjoy herself as she did, was a delight. The care and support of 'two of her girls', as she calls them, in prompting, helping make choices etc., was exceptional. Bearing in mind Mum has significant cognitive limitation from a stroke condition. The trip was completed with coffee and cake before the returning to Aylesham Court. I stayed with Mum for an hour afterwards and she had clearly enjoyed an exceptional afternoon. As a family, we will always be grateful for this wonderful example of kindness, generosity, commitment and much more.

Mum was moved to the care home and could not have wished for a better place. Nothing was too much trouble for either Mum or the family, even at the end nursing staff were very kind in every respect, given everything we needed. Lots of hugs and best wishes, such a caring thought to us all and very much
appreciated, even on reception could not have wished for better at all. Thank you.

We are completely satisfied with the care that our mother receives at Aylesham Court. The staff go above and beyond to deliver care, patience and dedication. My mother entered Aylesham Court following three months in hospital where she had developed terrible bedsores. The expertise in Aylesham Court Care Home sorted this problem out wonderfully well whereas other care homes refused to take her because they felt they could not deal with the problem. Says
it all! The management and staff are wonderful: Polite, helpful and completely professional. They have managed the coronavirus situation brilliantly and that will have been very demanding. I would thoroughly recommend Aylesham Court Care Home to anyone.

My son has been in the nursing section of Aylesham Court since July 2020 and is unable to communicate and is bed bound. Due to the difficulties since his admissions due to covid, I can only compliment the management, nurses and carers for their kindness and understanding. I feel the carers have gone
out of their way to make him feel welcome and made every effort to try and understand him and help in any way they can. I know he has settled well, he has indicated to me that he is happier than his previous home. My only criticism, and it is a very minor one, that I wish his room was tidier.

Our father has stayed at Aylesham Court for respite care several times, allowing us to have holidays secure in the knowledge that he is safe and very well cared for. Before we found Aylesham Court - we had looked at several care homes, none of which, I would have been comfortable placing a loved one
in. When we first viewed Aylesham Court, I was utterly thrilled by the homely atmosphere, the welcoming and friendly staff, the happy residents, the cleanliness and the evident care ethic (not to mention the platters of freshly prepared fruit and homemade biscuits) - I booked respite care for my father there and then. We have never been disappointed with his care or any aspect of his stays at Aylesham Court. Focussing on his recent stay - he was welcomed back by the staff - he was happy to be back as he referred to Aylesham Court as his second home. Whilst he was there, his health suddenly deteriorated - he passed away peacefully in his sleep with dignity. We can not thank all the staff enough for taking such good care of him.

Earlier today my sister died in the home and I wanted to put down my thoughts while fresh in my mind.
Without going into details my sister had been placed in a home that was totally inappropriate for her needs. After a few days, we realised that fact and urgently sought to find an alternative ourselves.
We were massively lucky in contacting Aylesham Court and there being a vacancy. From the outset, the standard of care and communication has been beyond exemplary and everyone concerned has made my sister’s last days as comfortable as possible.
Having seen several homes in the last few months, I can honestly say that; Aylesham Court shines out as how a care home should be run. The dedication and attention to detail shown by the management was reflected in every member of staff.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.645)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.645) out of 10 for Aylesham Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 31 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.645 for Aylesham Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (272 Excellents x 5) + (59 Goods x 4) + (22 Satisfactorys x 3) + (7 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 361 Ratings = 4.645
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Aylesham Court Care Home is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 29 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
