Having to relinquish the care of my precious mum to others was the hardest decision we ever had to make when she was end-of-life care so thank god we found Altham Court. The care she and our family received here was the best we could ever have hoped for. The staff were genuinely all so kind and compassionate
and displayed such human warmth right until the end of her life we will always be so eternally grateful for. We were always welcomed day or night to be with her and staff went out of their way for her. Thank you all so very much.

When visiting the home, the first thing you notice is the cleanliness (no funny smell). The staff always speak and are helpful. Before Covid, there were always activities, and I'm pleased to see some of those returning as they are helpful to my mum because she forgest that even at her age, you can still
enjoy yourself. When the weather is nice, it is pleasant being able to take my mum into the courtyard for some fresh air because sometimes the rooms do become stuffy.

Lovely caring staff, always responsive to requests, nothing is too much trouble. My mum's room is single-glazed and during the winter the windows are very drafty due to the fact they don't close properly. The staff sealed them with tape and wedged towels around the sill. I don't think this is an appropriate
environment for a 90-year-old person. The room itself is comfortable, unfortunately, the windows are the problem.
Reply from Diane Kerwin, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Altham Court Care HomeThank you for your review, we value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. We greatly appreciate your wonderful, positive comments on our home and staff team, thank you. We are so sorry the window in your Mother’s room has caused concern and understand that she did not want to move rooms despite being offered to do so. We have arranged for our regional surveyor to visit the home on 4 July 2022 to review all the windows in the home.

When I first came here I did not know what to expect but the short time I have been here has been more than my expectations of what a care home was like. I cannot stress how wonderful all the staff were and they could not have been more helpful in every way. I ended up feeling as if I was part of a
big family. I will always be grateful for the way I was treated.

Extremely clean and fresh odour throughout the Care Home. Well-trained and friendly staff always prepared to listen and help both the resident and family during visiting. Allowed family to assist with her eating at mealtimes which made her feel as if she was in her own home.

My brother went into this care home for palliative care on a Sunday. When he arrived he said, “it’s like a hotel”. He had a view of the courtyard which is pretty and well kept. His own toilet with basin and chair next to his bed. Unfortunately due to his already emaciated body with the cancer ravaging
his body the staff at the onset attempted to whet his appetite with jellies, yogurts, and soft foods. He was with them a week but the carers took the time to know him, help him and care for him with respect up until his last breath. Don’t get me wrong they were busy, it has 48 rooms and at times if things got more than busy they worked hard at not keeping residents waiting long, I know as I sat with my brother. When he died their kindness did not stop and are prepared to advise in the procedures to follow. Kindness is their motto and it is felt.

We first had dealings with Altham Court Care Home when my mother-in-law was a resident in 2017/2018. We had nothing but praise for everyone then and the same still applies now as my own mother was admitted in January 2021 due to ill health and has now become a permanent resident. We have always found
all the staff to be extremely friendly caring people who not only have time for their residents but also for relatives as they appreciate we also need support in difficult times which they fully understand and give without question. When Mum came into the home we were told by her doctor to prepare ourselves as she was a very poorly lady. Since being in the care of Altham Court Mum’s condition has improved greatly which we can only put down to the super way she is being looked after by the wonderful staff. She is so settled, loves everything about Altham Court including the 5* variable menu, the activities, made new friends and feels safe in her new surroundings which she calls her home!

During Covid, the staff have been brilliant. We have been updated regularly and our Aunt has been cared for with kindness and love. We have had regular Facetime with her and been able to see and talk to our Aunt. Following the visiting changes, we have been allowed with all the testing to sit with her
and talk about many things and reassure her that we are still all doing well. The Facetime included her being able to see her great-grandniece for the first time. She has been so happy being able to meet me. The staff have made her feel wanted and happy. She has been dressed nicely and her hair has been kept cut and tidy. She has even put on weight!

Altham Court was selected after research by my eldest son who has had 30 years experience as an area manager of nursing homes and later as an area inspector. After picking 9 homes and their reputation in this area he visited 5 of them and picked Altham Court. The decision turned out to be correct. I
have informed all the private lodges local to Lincolnshire and have had, as a result, several residents coming to Altham Court.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.472)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.472) out of 10 for Altham Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.697 for Altham Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (87 Excellents x 5) + (33 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 122 Ratings = 4.697
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Altham Court Care Home is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 48 registered maximum number of service users is 9.6, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
