Reviews

9.5 Eccleshare Court Care Home has a Review Score of 9.5 (9.500)

The Review Score of 9.5 (maximum of 10) for Eccleshare Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 14 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Eccleshare Court Care Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.5 for Eccleshare Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (91 Excellents x 5) + (64 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 164 Ratings = 4.5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Eccleshare Court Care Home is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 9.2 positive Reviews (46 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 12 Reviews ÷ 9.2 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My mother was in this home for 12 weeks after a bad fall. Every member of staff from reception to all the nursing staff and everyone else working here were extremely helpful, well presented and polite.
My mum has been in two homes before but I can say with 100% confidence this one is an absolute treasure. Hopefully, my mum won't need a care home in the future but if she does I know Eccleshare Court Care Home is where she will be best cared for and looked after.

The difficult decision was made to move my father into residential care after my mother died a couple of months ago.
It was a very emotional time for the family.
However, Dad has settled well.
He has a lovely flat with lots of room for his favourite pieces of furniture, a kitchenette with a sink and a fridge and also a wet room.
Dad suffers from dementia and quite often forgets things.
He doesn't forget to go down to the dining room for his meals though!
He says the food is good (he was a chef all his working life so that's a huge accolade) and he enjoys the company of other residents in the dining room.
However, he could take his meals in his room if he wanted to.
There is a daily care plan in his room, so we can see when we visit him how his day's going. He might have been sitting in the garden or have gone out on a trip.
It tells us what he's eaten if he's shaved, how many cups of tea he's had.
The care is marvellous and all the staff are friendly and loving.

Eccleshare Court has improved in its care quality since Country Court Care acquired this home last year. The staff are very friendly and seem to enjoy working there. The place is very clean and tidy and the residents are engaged in a number of activities which are well organised.

I would like to thank the manageress and her team for persevering with my mother when she came into the home. Their approach and the fact they gave her time to settle in without being judgemental over her behaviour, gave my family the confidence that mum was in the best place to meet her needs. The fact she is happy there and settled is a great comfort to us, after what has been a very difficult time.

I found the care my husband received during his 5-week respite stay extremely good. He has complex needs due to his Alzheimer's diagnosis and has type 1 diabetes. All the staff were patient, understanding and did their best to respond to his emotional needs. I chose Eccleshare Court for a number of reasons. The manager was empathetic to both mine and my husband's needs, she leads by example showing a lovely manner with staff and residents. First impressions are everything and I found my initial welcome reassuring with staff willing to communicate and be proud of their home and finally the residents themselves appeared happy. I would highly recommend Eccleshare Court.

My mum came into a transitional care bed from hosptial following a fall. She had a chest infection and a UTI and had some confusion. My dad has Alzheimers and can't live alone. He came as a temporary resident to the care home next door and the staff of both homes helped them to spend the day together. Both the activities leaders encouraged them to join in activities and tried to involved mum in things she could do - she is registered blind. Encouraging her to recite poetry which she enjoyed doing. She had lost a lot of weight prior to admission as she had stopped eating. The food was excellent and staff encourage both parents with small meals and they are now both eating normally again. Staff treated them with dignity and affection and I am very grateful.

Mum was only in respite for 3 weeks but received excellent care from all the staff and particularly liked the way all residents were spoken to. Even if they couldn't answer, they were treated as human beings at all times.

My mother has been a resident here for 2 and a half years. Initially, we were attracted by the quality of accommodation offered but obviously, there is much more to making a care home feel like home. This happens as a result of the kindness and patience shown by the staff on a daily basis. Most importantly, I have seen for myself how management is responding to areas recently deemed to 'requires improvement' and I am genuinely impressed by their openness to discuss their shortcomings and their determination to improve their service.

My wife has been a resident at Eccleshare Court since August 2016. She has Vascular dementia and is immobile so nursing care is very important for her as well as personal care and feeding. This has become progressively more demanding over the past 6 months. The care home staff and nursing have done a good job caring for her especially when I was unable to visit due to illness. Initially undergoing refurbishment when she was admitted with a change in management and a number of new staff it was I who was concerned for her well being, but I did not need to be as she has been well cared for and nursed throughout and the improvements to the home have seen a much better environment especially for the residents. My wife does not communicate now but does seem to have settled in very well.
Regular meetings between Management and residents and relatives are a great help to all concerned as the need for communication all round is important.

Two family members have been resident for over a year. I was pleased and reassured when I first visited the home and I have not been disappointed. Despite the challenges of meeting complex needs, I feel that the care is compassionate, the environment is clean and comfortable and there is a range of services and activities available. Residents are able to personalise their rooms, visitors are welcomed and engaged with and particular needs are accommodated where possible.

Of late, major redecorating has been undertaking bringing a fresh vibrancy to the home. This has been enhanced by homely touches in lounges and common areas. The walls have stimulating and interesting pictures and there are displays to help with memories and associations.

The garden remains a key centre point of the home at anytime of year. The location of the home puts it in the middle of the community adding stimulus for residents looking out into daily life.

A welcoming and caring home.
