I always felt that Mum was well looked after and treated with respect. Naturally Mum would rather have been at home but Beckside provided an environment that allowed her large family to visit in the knowledge that she was being cared for when we weren;t around. This allowed Dad to cope in extremely difficult times. The carers and nursing staff were very approachable and friendly, and made Mums final days the best they could be in the circumstances. Thank you to all.

Our father spent 3 weeks at Beckside, following a 2 week spell in hospital. It quickly became apparent that his stay wouldn't be respite, as we hoped, but end of life care. Throughout his stay both he & all family members were treated with dignity & kindness. Nothing was too much trouble and all our needs were met & supported with care.

Every member of staff made us feel that dad was in a safe & caring environment at such a difficult time for us all.

My husband spent the final days of his life in this care home, and I cannot speak highly enough of the care he received. The staff showed him great compassion, dignity, and respect, and they were meticulous in managing his pain and comfort right through to the end. Just as importantly, they looked after mine and my families needs as well, offering kindness, reassurance, and support during an incredibly painful time. As a family we will always be thankful for the care and humanity shown to us.

Mum spent almost a year in the loving care of Beckside. The dignity and respect shown to her was beyond expectations, especially during her final weeks. Their kindness and support to us helped to deal with a very difficult period in our lives.

My dear friend was only at Beckside for 10 days having being transferred from hospital with stage 4 cancer.

We felt that all of his needs were met in a most considerate and sypathetic way by all of the staff at the home.

Overall I have been very happy with the care provided for my mum. She has been happy & had an excellent relationship with many of the staff.
Her room was slightly on the small side with no real room to make it feel homely or for family to sit comfortably when visiting.

Whilst I appreciate the need for security online, I am not a big fan of the secure platform. It is difficult to navigate and, as far as I am aware, doesn't keep a history.

In the four years Mum was at Beckside she was very well looked after. The staff treated her with kindness and good humour. Mum was afforded much dignity as her needs became greater. It was obvious that she felt at home and safe and cared for.

Thankyou.

Beckside took superb care of my father from 2018 to 2019, and my mother from 2018 to 2025. All the staff at Beckside are brilliant! They combine to create a safe and happy environment for residents, and have a lot of fun with them. The management team are all very approachable and everything is well organised. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Beckside for all aspects of care in later life.

My mother was admitted to Beckside for end of life care. The care she received was excellent. The nurses especially went out of their way to manage her symptoms and adapted treatment/care plans to her changing needs. Beckside has a lovely welcoming atmosphere and staff are compassionate and professional.

Dad was only at the Beckside for a short period of time before dying. He was at end of life care. The manager of Beckside and all the staff treated dad and us with professionalism, dignity and respect. All of the team couldn't do enough for us. The nurse on shift, when dad died, was fantastic and full of compassion. We cannot thank Beckside enough for all they did for dad and us.

Our family had to make the difficult decision to place my father in a care home six years ago and we are so grateful that he was able to spend his final years at Beckside.
The staff showed nothing but kindness and compassion towards my father throughout his stay and it is a testament to their professionalism and expertise that we were able to spend so much precious time with him. They kept him safe during all the various lockdowns and have continued to work so hard throughout in some exceptionally testing circumstances.
All the staff - housekeepers, kitchen staff, carers, administrators, maintenance, managers and nurses - always took the trouble to get to know us and Dad, treating him with dignity and respect. In his final days, we were so touched by the number of staff who took the time out of their busy day or at the end of their shift to visit Dad in his room and spend a few minutes with him. They showed my father and our family the meaning of the word 'care'.

Thank you.

Our mum came to Beckside for end-of-life care. The kindness, attention and care she received was outstanding.
With such nursing care, Mum rallied and became a permanent resident and stayed two and a half years!
In Mum's words, 'I am very happy here, everyone is so kind. The food delicious and entertainment great'.
She never felt alone and she felt safe.

Even in her final moments, she was surrounded by familiar staff. Thank you one and all Beckside.

A close friend I had looked after for many years had to go into a care home we chose Beckside. She was only there a few weeks but she could not have been in a better place. It's like a big family, the staff are wonderful so caring and thoughtful at all times, nothing was ever too much trouble. The place itself is bright and cheery and being on one level was perfect, they have regular entertainment on and activities and you can visit when you like. When looking for a care home Beckside is the perfect place, so very happy we found it.

Words cannot express the praise I have for Beckside sufficiently. In my past role as a social care tutor, I have seen many residential care homes. None of them remotely match Beckside in care standards. Visiting Beckside is a joy because there is an overwhelming feeling of love and happiness. There is a family atmosphere, excellent teamwork and standards of care. One word summarises Beckside, it is love. Thank you so much.

Andrea BrooksJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 1995

Andrea began her career with the Trust in September 1995 as a relief carer working in the residential and nursing unit, gaining invaluable experience working with the nursing team. Andrea went on to be promoted to the role of Senior Carer and, at that time, achieved her NVQ Level 2. Andrea then went on to become a Care Leader and achieved her NVQ Level 3. Andrea later became a Home Manager and achieved her QCF Diploma Level 5.

Andrea loves coming to work and has an excellent bond with her team and the residents. Andrea has an open-door policy and welcomes anyone who would like to meet with her.

One of the fond memories is meeting the Duke of Gloucester, which was an amazing day, and the residents and families loved it!

Andrea loves meeting new people and enjoys the fact that she is helping and supporting others.

Andrea has lots of hobbies, enjoys being a mother, keeping fit and being very sociable.

Claire Woods
Claire WoodsJob Title:Deputy ManagerJoined: 2000

I started working at Beckside as a bank carer in August 2000. I found that caring for people and being able to enhance their lives was rewarding, so I took a permanent position where I worked predominantly with nursing clients. After a few years, I progressed to a senior carer, which gave me a better understanding

After several years, I decided that I would like to enhance my knowledge to ensure that the residents were getting the best care and enrolled in a nursing degree.

After completing my degree, I worked away from Beckside for a short period, but I missed the environment and the rapport that is built with our residents and families. When offered the opportunity to return to Beckside full-time, I agreed immediately.

I returned as a night nurse before taking secondment as Clinical lead, and I then accepted the role of Deputy Manager, which allows me to support Andrea to maintain the high standards that Beckside offer.

I am thankful that I was given the opportunity to return. It feels like home!

Sue GillJob Title:Head HousekeeperJoined: 2011

Sue is the Head Housekeeper at Beckside and has worked in the care industry for seven years, five of which have been at Beckside, where she achieved her NVQ 3 in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership.

Sue's day is varied, and she works hard with her team to ensure that the day-to-day running and cleaning of the home is adhered to. The most exciting part for her is when visitors say positive things about the home.

After many years of working as a Sales Manager both in fitness and footwear, Sue decided she wanted to take on another challenge, so she trained and went to study as a Therapeutic Counsellor, where she gained her Diploma, alongside other qualifications linked with counselling.

Sue also has qualifications, including the Care Activities Organiser Certificate and a Level 3 in an End of Life Course.

When Sue is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family, eating out and playing with her four grandchildren.

A little unknown fact about Sue is that she used to be an ear model!
