Mum became a resident in 2020. Despite the Covid restrictions she quickly settled into her new home. Staff were very supportive with regards to family visiting and communicating any changes.
On 9 January 2023 Mum was put on end of life care. All the staff involved were kind, caring and compassionate
and provided a high standard of care. They supported our family during this time and we were able to spend time with her. She died very peacefully on 16 January. Thanks to all.

My mother moved into Willow Court eleven years ago, so I have had a decade to witness how this home has performed. Throughout this time I have been continuously impressed by the level of care given to the residents. In those eleven years, a large percentage of staff have remained at Willow Court and
this is an indicator of stability which I feel is a good thing. Staff are happy and show love and commitment to those they are looking after. Mum died on the 8th of December, but she was loved by the staff until the end. I am so grateful to them.

After a stressful and worrying time in the hospital, it was lovely to arrive at Willow Court and have my own room with peace and quiet. I have been included in all their activities, even as someone who is on respite care. All the staff are lovely and caring. I can eat in my room if I want or join others
in the dining room. The care is wonderful 24/7.

My uncle is a resident and he has dementia. All of the staff have always been extremely caring and patient with him. Nothing is ever too much trouble and they all work so very hard. He, at present, is in bed due to his worsening condition and they feed him and make him as comfortable as possible. I
love the way he is made to feel safe and cared for and would highly recommend Willow Court.

My husband came here from hospital after I had been to have a look around Willow Court Care Home and as soon as I had been in the home for ten minutes it felt really nice and homely. There was quite a lot of staff around and the staff member who showed me around was very nice and reassuring. My husband
has been here a while now and has suffered a couple of illnesses and I couldn't be more pleased with the care he has been given. Everyone is nice and pleasant.

Constantly being told off for not making an appointment to visit when I get there at the time allotted after booking 3 days prior on the phone. Was told "no mask-no entry". I'm actually exempt but was forced to wear one to be allowed in at all.
Was busy sorting out banking with mother with her room
door closed for a few minutes as it was private, door was banged open and we were told off for closing it. "Door has to remain open at all times" was loudly announced. Also found most of mum's mail I need to go through with her, stuffed in random drawers or thrown in bottom of wardrobe. On one occasion I prebooked a few days before but when I got there she was actually in hospital having an operation! No one had told me she had even gone in, although they had known a couple of weeks in advance but still booked my visit.
Reply from Julie Caygill, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Willow Court Care HomeThank you for your review, we value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. We apologise we have not met your expectations. During the Covid pandemic, we must ensure the safety of all residents and the environment in which they are cared for. We are given strict Government guidelines to follow to ensure we maintain high standards which in turn not only keeps your loved one safe but all our residents. Currently, we request that any visitors to the home should book in advance so that we do not have a high number of visits at any given time. We have investigated the issue of the closing of the door and noted your loved one does at times become distressed if the door is shut and has requested the door be kept open. However, we have informed all care staff that when you visit the door can be closed. Regarding the hospital visit, we noted the Home Manager contacted you regarding this, but we will look to ensure that for any future visits you are contacted a couple of days before as a reminder, so you do not have a wasted journey. Please be assured we continually strive to achieve our resident's and their family's satisfaction and we trust the changes mentioned will ensure this continues.

From the onset, the care given to my mum has been outstanding. So much care and compassion from each and every member of staff, nothing has been too much trouble. The communication regarding Mum's care from the staff to us, the family, has been first-class. They really do care! It's obvious to me that
the service users' experience is their utmost priority. An outstanding example of ensuring the 6 C's of care, compassion, competence, communication, courage and commitment are met.

My mum came into Willow Court for respite and has been supported by all the staff for all her care needs. I feel they have a great understanding of my mum's needs. She is treated with dignity and care as we would all like to be treated. The staff and management are always willing to answer any questions
and keep the family up to date. I have nothing but love for everyone who works there.

My mum has been in Willow Court since October 2019. The staff were very welcoming to Mum and the family. The manager of the Kingfisher unit is excellent. She is very honest, reassuring and informative of any changes in Mum's condition, she is always very supportive. The staff always listens to concerns
and manages them alongside the home manager and provides feedback. Mum has had a hospital admission in recent weeks and since returning to Willow Court the care she receives has been amazing. She has been treated with dignity and respect, she is always comfortable. Diet and fluid are always offered to Mum according to what she can manage.

My mother was a resident here for a few months before her death in April 2021. First and foremost the staff on the front line were excellent.
The room was just about acceptable from a size point of view, that wasn’t an en-suite, more like a cupboard so in my view value for money was very poor and also
what I saw of the food basic, to say the least.
What concerns me more is what the staff are being paid. It’s not enough when you look at the dividends the company is paying itself and also where the company has based itself - outside the UK.
The staff should be paid more and the dividends the owners are getting should be less!
My thanks go to the staff for looking after my mother.
To the owners, I say please pay your staff more money for the caring work they do.
Reply from Julie Caygill, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Willow Court Care HomeThank you for your review, we value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. We really appreciate you recognising the hard work our care staff undertake each day; we value them immensely. The pay our staff receive is currently under review and a new pay and reward scheme is soon to be implemented. I am very sorry you were not completely satisfied with some aspects of the service we offered. I would have been more than happy to discuss any concerns with your Mother and you at the time to seek to resolve them.

Difficult to complete just now as only the second visit in seven months. On the value for money, I think it is expensive, especially when compared to others who get assistance. Unfair that just because you save or have a property, you pay so much more.

My mother was resident at Willow Court for 18 months until her death in March 2020. During that time the care, compassion and kindness shown to her by all the staff was remarkable. And this care was extended to my family at the end when we had a bedside vigil over several days. It was always lovely
to see how my mum reacted with a smile to staff when they came in to see her. She clearly trusted them and it was very evident that the staff genuinely cared for her as a person, not just a resident. The manager was brilliant throughout, and whenever we expressed any concerns over mum's care, she would always ensure that the necessary action was taken to reassure us. I would thoroughly recommend this care home.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.431)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.431) out of 10 for Willow Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.631 for Willow Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (123 Excellents x 5) + (43 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 176 Ratings = 4.631
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Willow Court Care Home is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 54 registered maximum number of service users is 10.8, which has been reached with 12 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
