The care home has several, relaxing living rooms, bedrooms and three splendid gardens for residents and their visitors to enjoy.

Part of the Jasmine Healthcare group, the care home regularly invests in training its team. As well as constant encouragement of continued development, the care home provides all members of the team with an extensive in-house induction, regular mandatory training and additional specialist training in many areas. It believes a regular training programme is fundamental to improving the care provided to all residents.

Mum has been at Avenue House for 2 years. The carers know her and are always helpful and look after her needs and as a family, we feel reassured with Mum's care. The home is friendly and always welcoming. Any issues can be raised and dealt with.

I have been very happy with the care my mum continues to receive at Avenue House. The staff are amazing and always keep our family up to date with changes in medication etc. The food is always to a high standard and the entertainment ladies put in so much effort.

Avenue House is a very nice home to attend, visit and be in. The manager and staff are all lovely, helpful and caring. The atmosphere in the home is always positive, the residents are encouraged to join in and be part of all activities.

Mum has been in Avenue House for 6 years. She has always been treated with dignity and kindness by all the staff.
The manager is always available to speak to about any problems, we have always found the staff to be happy in their work and they are rewarded with incentives for excellent performance.
I would always recommend Avenue House to any friends or relatives who were looking for a home for their loved ones.

I have always been thankful for the way my mum has been cared for.
It is lovely to see how happy the whole team appears.

Our mother has lived at Avenue house for 2 years. It was her choice to go into a home as she was struggling living on her own and needed company.
We all now have peace of mind, she looks upon the staff as her family and often says Avenue House is now her home.
Mum loves the food including food at
social events.
The staff are very hard working and friendly. There was a dedicated entertainment member of staff and Mum really enjoyed joining in with the activities provided. This person left and there does not seem to be a proactive approach to recruiting someone, they seem to think that they can cope with someone who is part-time and someone else who changes their duties to do this role 2 days a week. Although the staff carrying out the arrangement are doing their best, they are definitely not a substitute for a member of staff dedicated for providing entertainment. Mum often says she is bored, we have seen the difference it makes to her well-being.

We have always found the staff to be very friendly, helpful and caring. One staff member always knows the current situation regarding our mum and exactly what is happening. This gives us great confidence with the care our mum and other residents receive. We are very happy with the home.

Both of my parents reside at the home, and I have been impressed with the care they receive.
I live away, and whenever I have visited, the staff are always friendly and helpful. The home is clean, and the residents always look clean and smart.
There are plenty of activities for them to partake in
should they want to. The food always looks appetising, and having dined with them, tasty too.
Overall very impressed.

We have a few concerns. We buy toothpaste but it doesn’t seem to ever run out. Mum was left in her room due to the lift being out of action, which we completely understand but there was no one around. We rang for help and phoned, no one answered the phone. Finally, someone appeared and we asked if they
could open the door for us to get downstairs. Mum had been left watching tennis on tv which is something mum has never had any interest in. Mum seemed worried that I’d turned the tv over. Every weekend we visit trying to find staff is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
This does explain why every time mum has had a fall it’s been at the weekend. Last year they left mum overnight before ringing for an ambulance and she’d broken her hip.
It’s like things we’ve asked don’t seem to matter.
My sister is concerned if we say anything mum will be kicked out of the home.
But I know mums got dementia but the people who work there don’t seem to either want to know.

The care home is a wonderfully laid out home for residents. Rooms are fabulous and lots of activities. Space to be alone if needed but plenty of social too.
A wonderful little library and beautiful gardens and view outside.
The food is excellent with great quality and choice. Prepared freshly on
site. Drinks are continuously provided.
Very clean environment. Hygiene of residents is also taken care of very well.
The carers and nurses on site look after all in a caring professional way. Friendly but not familiar.
My only criticism is the associated accountancy and owner who clearly care not one jot about you or your resident. They want the money and are the opposite of professional or caring.

A caring and supportive environment is provided with residents being treated more like family members rather than residents.
The team always listen to my concerns regarding my mum’s health and are very knowledgeable and compassionate. I am very reassured as they provide the best level of care possible

Very happy with my father’s first month at the home. He is loving the food and being able now with assistance to shower regularly. There are three lounges two of which are quieter which he prefers. The staff are friendly and visitors are welcome anytime during the day.

Think twice about letting your loved one reside at Avenue House. After reading good reviews my family and I decided to move our mother into Avenue House. During a period of one year, we had to complain about her basic care needs on several occasions. The management and nursing care were virtually non-existent.
Our mother is bedridden and has dementia and we watched her gradually deteriorate before our very eyes. However, after having to raise concerns yet again about the lack of basic care needs, we received out of the blue a notice of Termination from the home outlining that our mother would have to vacate the home within 28 days, our mother at this time was very frail, on a liquid diet and only 5 and a half stone. Obviously, our family was shocked with disbelief at the termination notice. Thankfully our mother now resides in a wonderful care home and already her quality of life has improved immeasurably.

I was visiting from New Zealand. My mum has been in the home since May 2022. I was able to spend two weeks with her. The staff were accommodating, sympathetic, caring and professional. I was hugely impressed with the facilities, with the care, with the staff. I was able to ask questions and these were
answered honestly and with empathy. I return to New Zealand confident my mum is in a good place and will be cared for and looked after.

Sam Hoare-Wilkinson

Job Title: Manager Joined: 2017

Avenue House is led by Care Home Manager, Sam Hoare-Wilkinson who supports our qualified team of carers, kitchen and housekeeping staff.


Sam joined the Jasmine Team at Avenue House in October 2017 as Deputy Manager. Sam chose to pursue a career in care from the age of 19 and over the last 16 years she has worked in different care settings including as a care assistant at a Nursing home and then in Residential and Domiciliary Care. Whilst gaining valuable experience, Sam has also undertaken a programme of study and has achieved NVQ qualifications at levels 2, 3 and 5 in Adult Health and Social Care and has completed a Counselling Skills course.


Sam passionately believes that we are invited to work in our residents’ home, and the empowerment of their choices, rights and independence are fundamental to her approach to care.
