I had the pleasure of meeting the staff at Cheaney Court Care Home earlier this week. Everyone I met was very friendly and professional. Everyone took the time to speak to my sister and give her the care she deserves.

Mother spent the last month of her life at Cheaney Court Care Home after leaving hospital.
The staff were very professional and kind and treated Mother with great dignity.

The standard of the food was very good and staff always willing and available to help with care.

Friendly, caring staff. We thought my father-in-law would be unhappy but he has never complained about Cheaney Court Care Home or the staff. He even says he enjoys the food, as an Indian we weren't expecting this.

Reply from Kathryn Smith, Home Manager at Cheaney Court Care Home

Thank you for your very kind words. Each person that we support and care for is a unique individual enriching our lives and enhancing our knowledge of how we can continually develop the care we provide. I will pass on your kind words to the team.

This is the third care home Mum has been in, due to trying to get her closer to home, and I can honestly say as soon as we walked in Cheaney Court Care Home felt so homely. The manager, chef, carers, cleaner and caretaker welcomed us one by one, the first thing we got was a cup of tea and biscuits which made Mum immediately feel at ease. Even the chef came to chat and find out Mum's likes and dislikes. I really cannot rave enough about all aspects of this home. Mum has struggled settling before and lost a lot of weight, in the few months she has been at Cheaney Court she’s putting on weight. She loves tidying up and straightening things, the carers let her help, giving her a purpose. Rooms are so cosy and homely, staff are excellent, regular entertainment, proper home-cooked food, lots of tea and biscuits and all carers never stop. Honestly can’t rave enough about the support and how welcoming everyone is.

I found this care home very good.
My mum was treated with care and dignity during her last months. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, always willing to help.
Our family was there during the last week, day and night, we were offered tea, coffee, sandwiches, cakes and biscuits. The family were also looked after by the staff.

Thank you for my mum's excellent care.

Unfortunately, not many people get the chance to compare homes for the elderly. My husband was admitted to a care home originally which was adequate, staff were hardworking, friendly and helpful.

Since being moved to a nursing home I was amazing at the difference in the care he receives from management to staff. He has put weight on, hair cut, manicured, shaved, doctors visit regularly. I can ask for no more. I did attempt to care for my husband originally, probably another reason I appreciate the patience of these wonderful people.

My mother lived the last nine years of her life in this care home. It was just what she needed and this was because the staff 'bombed her with love'. Always hugs and kisses and laughter when needed.
The atmosphere in the home was always caring and kind. I have nothing but praise for the way the staff coped with everything thrown at them.

Thank you to all of them.

I have now used the services of Cheaney Court for almost four years. During that time I have found the service offered to be excellent. The atmosphere in the home is always welcoming and friendly. Staff are always polite and caring. The description as being a "care home" is well chosen and correct.
The unfortunate time of "lockdown" during the Covid crisis was handled firmly, but sensitively, all care was taken to protect everyone concerned.

When leaving, after visiting, it is with a feeling of confidence regarding the care of one's loved one.

Mum came to Cheaney Court Care Home in December 2020, since becoming a resident there have been ups and downs with Mum, but her care has been exemplary. Given the current restrictions with Covid Mums needs have been truly met, staff, have gone above and beyond to do everything possible for her. Everyone has encouraged Mum to eat and drink more which is vital. Even putting something she really enjoys on the menu. If an issue has been raised it has been dealt with promptly and professionally, my only criticism is regarding Mums laundry. It is still in parts being laundered even though we want to do it as some items don't come back.

I was a friend and neighbour for many years and it was lovely to see him thrive at Cheaney Court. His appetite picked up and he was a happier person all round. Cheaney Court made such a difference and improved his life beyond expectations. The care he received was the best and he was always saying how good the food was and couldn't wait for his next meal. He will be sadly missed.

My mother was admitted to Cheaney Court on the 24th of October 2020 and died on the 23rd January 2021. During her three months in Cheaney Court, she was treated with care and love by all staff. With Alzheimer's and dementia and other ailments, she was given appropriate and timely care. She was comfortable until her death. I have no hesitation in recommending Cheaney Court.

A very welcoming home. Staff are caring and really seem to know my mum well.
The management team have gone to extraordinary lengths to ensure residents maintain positive links with family and friends in the community in a safe and Covid aware way.
I am very happy with the care my mum receives here.

(What a difference to the previous home she was in).

My late husband was only under the care of this home for a brief time until his death there.

The care was exemplary from the start until his passing. This was such a comfort to us, his grieving family.

After a long search to find a suitable home for my mother, my family and I decided on Cheaney Court. The management and staff are excellent, the level of care is second to none. Whilst the building has a "lived in" look unlike some that are "places" cold and sterile it is always clean and smells nice. We have peace of mind that our mum is safe and well looked after.

The assessment procedure to accept her into care was very good because of how vulnerable she was and it took a while for her to settle. The staff were very good at bringing her around to accepting her position. She has been very well looked after whilst in care. I do, however, think something needs to be done about self-funding fees. This is not a criticism, but for the future, only people of real means will be able to sustain the cost.
