My father was admitted for respite care after a course of radiotherapy. He was a reluctant resident at first due to his need to feel independent in his own home but soon warmed to the staff who went the extra mile. At all times they made all the family very welcome and we popped in at all times day and night, nothing was too much trouble. Unfortunately his condition deteriorated but due to the nursing care also offered on site after a short stay in hospital he came back to Silverwood where he sadly passed away. However, we as a family feel he had the best possible care at all times and we felt able to talk to the staff freely. They were like one big family and the chatter and atmosphere both in the care and nursing sides was like being in your own family home. I would not hesitate to recommend Silverwood, who gave me and my family excellent support through this very upsetting time. Once again thank you from the family.
My wife lost the use of her legs and has to rely on the staff for most things, i.e washing, dressing and toileting. Silverwood has taken a weight off my shoulders.

“Kind care to me means going the extra mile for each individual and ensuring that they feel safe, respected and well cared for.”
After working as a Manager within residential and dementia care homes for the past 20 years, Debra has achieved many awards to highlight her commitment to kind care, such as Manager of the Year and Best Activities Provider.
As a dedicated healthcare professional, Debra has gained a wealth of experience in providing care to elderly people to help enrich their lives.
Debra closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that means they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.
When asked what she enjoyed most about her role, Debra remarked: “I love being able to make a difference, as helping people fulfil their dreams as they get older is extremely important to me.”
Debra credits her biggest achievement to becoming a mother and grandmother.
Outside of work, Debra enjoys spending time with her seven grandchildren, teaching them how to bake and taking them to the park with her dog, DC.
If you would like to find out more information about Silverwood, Debra has an ‘Open Door Policy’ and would be pleased to welcome you for an informal discussion.
