St. Catherine's Care Home is located in the middle of Horwich near Bolton and is close to shops, amenities, public transport and the M62 motorway link. Middlebrook Shopping Centre is just one mile away.

This purpose built care home provides nursing and social care for the frail elderly and the mentally infirm elderly.

Accommodation at St Catherine's is provided in single occupancy rooms, some of which are spacious enough for sharing.

St. Catherine's provides TV lounges, quiet sitting rooms and a bright conservatory with access to extensive gardens for residents enjoyment. Meals can be served in one of the separate dining rooms, where residents can enjoy the company of others when dining. Meals are based on traditional home cooking using fresh produce, with daily choices being available. Special diets can be catered for.

Visits are made to the home on a regular basis by an experienced hair stylist and a qualified chiropodist. Complementary therapies can be arranged.

Residents benefit from a varied programme of activities that are available.

Always find the staff very friendly and helpful. My mum is always clean and smart. She is well looked after, and her general well-being has improved since being at St Catherine's. Would definitely recommend St Catherine's.

My husband was admitted to St Catherine's dementia unit on 28th March 2022. At first, he was very unsettled and disruptive, but the carers, nurses and management were patient, caring and efficient, and he is more settled now. I feel he is in a safe and happy environment. All the staff are caring and
efficient, even at their busiest times. They keep me informed of any incidents concerning my husband, ie, infections or other medical issues. Thank you, St Catherine's.

We are very fortunate that during Covid 2020, a place was available as Mum was discharged from the hospital. The care and activities Mum receives are priceless. We are kept informed, staff are very caring and work hard to meet Mum's needs as she deteriorates. The activities are just so well thought
up and give us, as a family, great pleasure seeing Mum smiling on the various posts. I don't have a bad word or any criticism of this home. Amazing, and thank you.

Care and thoughtfulness shown by the staff are great. Always bright and cheerful no matter how busy.
The level of care is good, and appropriate action is taken when challenges arise with behaviours/social interactions with maintaining a happy and safe environment for their residents.

I have always found them extremely professional and attentive to patient care. Very informative if they need to contact if they have been seen at the GP or taken into hospital. Staff are very friendly and caring. I think they are kept very busy with all the demands on them, but when I talk about my grandma, they always seem to know who she is and what the last situation is with her care. Having a relative in a nursing home, in the condition my grandma is in, is sad, but I

Very caring and attentive staff and always aware of the needs of the individual residents. Covid restrictions are strictly adhered to, and I have always been able to book window/room appointment as per Government guidelines. My mother is always relaxed and content when I visit, despite the fact that
she has been in lockdown for most of 2020. She is always smart and well dressed when I visit, and her room is always clean and tidy.

A very well run establishment. Always very clean and tidy. No offensive smells very calm environment. My dad settled in very well and very quickly due to the kindness and professionalism of all the staff. There are always lots of activities going on, which the staff encourage my dad to participate in,
which he loves to do. The food is always very well made and adequate choice. My dad's room, albeit quite small, is always very clean. He asked for a different mattress, which was changed for him immediately. Nothing is too much trouble to make my dad comfortable.

I can rin the home day/night for updates on my dad, which is reassuring, especially under the circumstance with Covid. Dad has settled in well, and all staff are informative with updates on Dad and seem genuinely caring towards him.

I have a good opinion of the care home, they have been patient in answering my questions, and they are always polite. From what I have seen, they have a laugh and joke with their patients. The rooms are basic but clean. So far, no complaints.

My mum was transferred to St Catherine's following an accident. It was during the lockdown, so we haven't seen the room or facilities. From the very day Mum moved in, the staff and management have done their best to reassure us all as a family. Now window visits have started, it's obvious how caring

Job Title: Home Manager at St Catherine's Care Home, Bolton Joined: 2010

Gill achieved her nursing qualifications a little later in life; however, this hasn’t stopped her from thriving. She began as a care assistant and, before progressing to Home Manager, she achieved her nursing qualifications. Gill is very proud of receiving a ‘Good’ rating from CQC for St Catherine’s. She loves working with the local community and creating a bond with them. Outside of work, Gill is a lover of arts and crafts. She is full of creativity and loves knitting and sewing. She is a proud grandmother and enjoys spending time with her family where she can too. Words of encouragement from Gill for someone looking for the right care home would be: “Good care needs to be observed. Make sure the home is clean. Look at the residents to see if they’re happy. Look at the website to see if there are activities going on and have a browse at the menus.”
