St. Catherine's Care Home is located in the middle of Horwich near Bolton and is close to shops, amenities, public transport and the M62 motorway link. Middlebrook Shopping Centre is just one mile away.

This purpose built care home provides nursing and social care for the frail elderly and the mentally infirm elderly.

Accommodation at St Catherine's is provided in single occupancy rooms, some of which are spacious enough for sharing.

St. Catherine's provides TV lounges, quiet sitting rooms and a bright conservatory with access to extensive gardens for residents enjoyment. Meals can be served in one of the separate dining rooms, where residents can enjoy the company of others when dining. Meals are based on traditional home cooking using fresh produce, with daily choices being available. Special diets can be catered for.

Visits are made to the home on a regular basis by an experienced hair stylist and a qualified chiropodist. Complementary therapies can be arranged.

Residents benefit from a varied programme of activities that are available.

My mother was at St Catherine's Care Home for 9 weeks. Sadly she passed away in September. Mum loved St Catherine's Care Home and even though her stay was short, she was happy, comfortable and treated with respect and dignity. The staff at St Catherine's Care Home are amazing not only in there care
for mum but going out of their way for her family too. Thank you to everybody at St Catherine's Care Home for their care of my late mum.

I would highly recommend St Catherines, it is by far the best care home that we have used.
They cared for my Father during his last few weeks, the staff are very friendly, nothing is too much trouble.
They treated my dad with dignity and the level of caring is beyond reproach.
The facilities are
good the rooms are good and you are free to make this feel your own during your stay.
Highly recommended.

We have found since our daughter first came to St Catherine's, they have treated her with love and care. Although she is unable to tell us how she feels, we are sure she is content and happy but doesn't always or cannot show her feelings. Staff are always there and look after her very well, with her

Our mother who sadly passed away on November 10th 2017 was given care second to none, full of compassion, dignity. They always kept to us up to date with any medical changes and changes with her care staff. A head nurse couldn't do enough for her and us as a family. Would highly recommend St Catherines.

Overall I have no complaints. My father has been here nearly 18 months. However, at one point I don't think Dad was being put in pyjamas at bedtime which I strongly disagree with. Now I don't know whether this was due to him fighting with carers or not but handled rightly Dad can be talked round and
he is always dressed during the day, so I think there has been a communication problem somewhere. I feel the night time staff don't seem to put enough effort in.

Over the past 12 months, my father has been resident at St Catherines Care Home in Harwich. In this time the care has been wonderful, so kind and caring towards him and his needs. His room is well looked after and the food enjoyable. What really makes this place special is by far the staff and the lengths

I am really pleased with the care my husband is receiving here at St. Catherines. The staff are without a doubt caring to all the residents. My only concern is that there is not enough stimulation.

My husband has been in this home for the last 10 months and I have been happy with all aspects of his care. I have also received all the support from all members of staff I have needed. My husband has settled well in the home which has made it easier for myself and my family when visiting.

My husband has only been in St Catherines for 6 months, but I cannot try to tell you about the care he is given. The staff cannot do enough to help my husband, he is lovely and clean, well dressed every day. My husband is incontinent and day and night and he is changed, kept dry as soon as noticed.
The staff are also concerned about how I am as they know how difficult if is for me. The food is excellent and amenities in bedrooms are fine. All at St Christine's are excellent and I would not hesitate in recommending it to anyone.

My mum has been at St Catherines Care Home for the past ten years. On the whole, she is well cared for. If I have had any issues I know I can talk to staff about it. Mum gets her hair done every week and enjoys her music which the staff are aware about. Sometimes she gets depressed but the staff put
her music on or play musical bingo which usually cheers her up.

Gill Johnson

Job Title: Home Manager at St Catherine's Care Home, Bolton Joined: 2010

Gill achieved her nursing qualifications a little later in life; however, this hasn’t stopped her from thriving. She began as a care assistant and, before progressing to Home Manager, she achieved her nursing qualifications. Gill is very proud of receiving a ‘Good’ rating from CQC for St Catherine’s. She loves working with the local community and creating a bond with them. Outside of work, Gill is a lover of arts and crafts. She is full of creativity and loves knitting and sewing. She is a proud grandmother and enjoys spending time with her family where she can too. Words of encouragement from Gill for someone looking for the right care home would be: “Good care needs to be observed. Make sure the home is clean. Look at the residents to see if they’re happy. Look at the website to see if there are activities going on and have a browse at the menus.”
