St. Catherine's Care Home is located in the middle of Horwich near Bolton and is close to shops, amenities, public transport and the M62 motorway link. Middlebrook Shopping Centre is just one mile away.

This purpose built care home provides nursing and social care for the frail elderly and the mentally infirm elderly.

Accommodation at St Catherine's is provided in single occupancy rooms, some of which are spacious enough for sharing.

St. Catherine's provides TV lounges, quiet sitting rooms and a bright conservatory with access to extensive gardens for residents enjoyment. Meals can be served in one of the separate dining rooms, where residents can enjoy the company of others when dining. Meals are based on traditional home cooking using fresh produce, with daily choices being available. Special diets can be catered for.

Visits are made to the home on a regular basis by an experienced hair stylist and a qualified chiropodist. Complementary therapies can be arranged.

Residents benefit from a varied programme of activities that are available.

Generally satisfied with overall care for my mother. Standard of home is good, decor and rooms are clean and well maintained. Staff are hard working and we feel there is a caring ethos towards residents although sometimes staffing numbers appear to be under pressure.

I always find the staff to be highly competent, friendly and caring. Many seem to go the extra mile to ensure residents and guests are provided with the very best care and attention. It is not pleasant to have to visit a relative in a care home, but the staff here attempt to make the experience a pleasant
one. I have nothing but admiration for the work they do.

My Dad was in St Catherines from July 2015 until April 2017 when he sadly passed away, as a paraplegic he needed care and St Catherines was the Nursing home we chose and we were so glad we did. The care that was given to dad was fantastic and the staff helped us get through the difficult time at the
end, nothing was too much trouble for them they looked after dad as if it was their own father. I can honestly say from the bottom of my heart they are truly Angels. I would recommend St Catherines to everyone that wanted their loved ones to be treated as the way they should be with people that are passionate about their jobs and the care they give

My mum went into St Catherines on 3rd June, so she has only been there for a couple of days. I like what I have seen up to now but would like to do another review in 6 months, when I see how the home looks after my mum.

Over the last 3 years my mother-in-law, who suffers from Dementia, has been looked after with loving care and dignity at St Catherine's. What is a heartbreaking situation seeing your loved one ravaged by this disease, has been made bearable, knowing that she is so well looked after by professional staff.
Her needs are carefully assessed and catered for, by compassionate staff, who always do their utmost to ensure that she is comfortable, pain free, and as happy as she can be.
I would have no hesitation in recommending St Catherines to anyone who is in a similar situation with a family member. Thank you to everyone, front-line and behind the scenes for doing a wonderful job.

My mother is now in the final stage of Alzheimer's disease. She is 4 st. has cancer, her skin is breaking down, yet the staff in the care home look after her carefully and well. She has been there for 4 years, after periods in hospital and falls at home. She is now 96 years of age. I live in North Wales
and could not care for her, but we all try to take care of her.
We have seen the steady decline in her which is dreadful, but I know that staff have done their utmost to care for her. The meals look good, the standards high and the staff are friendly.
There are only two nursing homes in this area of Greater Manchester and I know Horwich very well. Alzheimer's and the deterioration which my mother has suffered has been handled efficiently and the local doctor handles medical matters and medicines adequately. So far we have been satisfied at each stage of her steady deterioration over 4 years that she has received the best care possible in the circumstances.

I was very satisfied with care given to my late husband. I found all the staff very caring and very patient with all his needs. For the short stay he was in he was very contented and happy. The team at this home are brilliant and always provide outstanding support whether this be to resident, relative or own staff member. The morale throughout is great. I attended an Easter bingo night and all the staff were constantly smiling and enthusiastic throughout. I would highly recommend this
home to anyone I know as I am assured my relative is in the best care possible.

What great care they have taken of my dad. He's back to his old self, happy, smiling and not miserable. His weight has gone back to normal, his health is a lot better and he's so happy. Thank you all staff at Four Seasons.

My mother has now lived at St Catherines for five years. She began with residential care nut is now fully nursing. The advantage of this is that the staff knew her well before she deteriorated and they have continued to treat her with dignity and respect and as an individual. The staff are sometimes
stretched but the ethos is of kindness and support to all residents and a sense of teamwork. The communication is good.

The staff are always very caring and attentive to my mothers needs. The home is kept in a very clean way at all times. The staff ensure mum is well fed and whenever the occasion depends they call to advise on her condition. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home to anyone.

My sister said she is happy here. I feel the staff treat me with dignity and respect. I've been joining in with the activities, been playing cards. I enjoy the meals here, I don't eat a big portion and I get offered plenty of drinks. I like my bedroom and its kept clean. I love the fact when she was
in her bedroom different staff kept coming in to check she was okay and I love that. I know she is being cared for properly.

This is one of the nicest care homes I've been in within the Bolton District. The staff are very cheery and do seem quite happy in their work. This attitude to their vocation can only be beneficial to the homes residents. The home is extremely clean well looked after and it's obvious the pride people

Since my mum was welcomed into St Catherine's care home on New Years day 2016 she has been cared for with the upmost respect and dignity. All the staff at St Catherine's are extremely friendly and helpful to both residents and visitors. I am so happy that our family found St Catherine's to care for
my mum long term. Quite a distance from the family home town but well worth the travelling time usually around four visits per week.

My mother has been treated with dignity and respect from day one. She has been at St Catherines for about 5 years. Her faculities are impaired but the staff treat her flights of vivid imagination with humour and understanding. She loves the food which the home provides and is given the right amount.
Her room feeld lke a safe space to her, and we, her family, have easy access to her. She says it would grieve her to leave and she needs to know where she is going to sleep.

My aunt unfortunately was only in the care home for one week before passing away, during that time I found the staff to be very caring and helpful. Her bedroom was spacious and well appointed. Overall I found St Catherine's to be satisfactory, clean and friendly.

Gill achieved her nursing qualifications a little later in life; however, this hasn’t stopped her from thriving. She began as a care assistant and, before progressing to Home Manager, she achieved her nursing qualifications. Gill is very proud of receiving a ‘Good’ rating from CQC for St Catherine’s. She loves working with the local community and creating a bond with them. Outside of work, Gill is a lover of arts and crafts. She is full of creativity and loves knitting and sewing. She is a proud grandmother and enjoys spending time with her family where she can too. Words of encouragement from Gill for someone looking for the right care home would be: “Good care needs to be observed. Make sure the home is clean. Look at the residents to see if they’re happy. Look at the website to see if there are activities going on and have a browse at the menus.”
