St. Catherine's Care Home is located in the middle of Horwich near Bolton and is close to shops, amenities, public transport and the M62 motorway link. Middlebrook Shopping Centre is just one mile away.

This purpose built care home provides nursing and social care for the frail elderly and the mentally infirm elderly.

Accommodation at St Catherine's is provided in single occupancy rooms, some of which are spacious enough for sharing.

St. Catherine's provides TV lounges, quiet sitting rooms and a bright conservatory with access to extensive gardens for residents enjoyment. Meals can be served in one of the separate dining rooms, where residents can enjoy the company of others when dining. Meals are based on traditional home cooking using fresh produce, with daily choices being available. Special diets can be catered for.

Visits are made to the home on a regular basis by an experienced hair stylist and a qualified chiropodist. Complementary therapies can be arranged.

Residents benefit from a varied programme of activities that are available.

The nursing staff and care workers are wonderful. The care I have witnessed given to my dad has exceeded my expectations and has alleviated any worries that I had before. His room is clean and tidy, and he is clean and neatly dressed every time I see him. He is well-fed and has gained weight over the
past three months. Staff give me feedback on how he is, and that gives me confidence that he is in the right place for his care.

My father was a resident for 6 weeks. We as a family were well informed by management and nursing staff. Our father's care was extremely good. He was safe and treated extremely well. The staff were all patient and always had time to chat with us. Rooms are clean and well equipped we wouldn't hesitate
in recommending St Catherines to any future residents.

I have found the staff to be extremely helpful, caring, knowledgeable and extremely hard working. My mother and I are very happy with her placement here at St Catherine's. Her room is always clean and tidy. The food is of a very good standard and she really enjoys it.
The overall care and attention
my mother receives is adequate for her needs and I have no need to question it. All of the residents always seem happy and well cared for when I visit my mother.
The reception area is always clean and tidy.

Absolutely first class! My brother was only at St Catherine's for one month on comfort/end of life care. We were more than satisfied with every aspect of the care he received. The staff were fantastic, keeping us informed, and very caring towards us. Everything was spotlessly clean and very comfortable
to my brother and us as visitors. I cannot give praise enough! Please note we have had previous experience of care homes, so it was easy to compare.

Since my mum has been in this facility, my dad and I have found all the care staff have been very friendly and pro-active in making my mum's stay very relaxing and providing a friendly atmosphere noting is too much trouble.
They interact with mum very well and she has been eating a lot better than
she has ever done due to the encouragement and time they spend with her.
Also, it's nice for us as a family to also have the interaction as well.

My mother was at St Catherine's Care Home for 9 weeks. Sadly she passed away in September. Mum loved St Catherine's Care Home and even though her stay was short, she was happy, comfortable and treated with respect and dignity. The staff at St Catherine's Care Home are amazing not only in there care
for mum but going out of their way for her family too. Thank you to everybody at St Catherine's Care Home for their care of my late mum.

I would highly recommend St Catherines, it is by far the best care home that we have used.
They cared for my Father during his last few weeks, the staff are very friendly, nothing is too much trouble.
They treated my dad with dignity and the level of caring is beyond reproach.
The facilities are
good the rooms are good and you are free to make this feel your own during your stay.

We have found since our daughter first came to St Catherine's, they have treated her with love and care. Although she is unable to tell us how she feels, we are sure she is content and happy but doesn't always or cannot show her feelings. Staff are always there and look after her very well, with her
being given so much care, it makes our lives much easier.

Our mother who sadly passed away on November 10th 2017 was given care second to none, full of compassion, dignity. They always kept to us up to date with any medical changes and changes with her care staff. A head nurse couldn't do enough for her and us as a family. Would highly recommend St Catherines.

Gill Johnson

Job Title: Home Manager at St Catherine's Care Home, Bolton Joined: 2010

Gill achieved her nursing qualifications a little later in life; however, this hasn’t stopped her from thriving. She began as a care assistant and, before progressing to Home Manager, she achieved her nursing qualifications. Gill is very proud of receiving a ‘Good’ rating from CQC for St Catherine’s. She loves working with the local community and creating a bond with them. Outside of work, Gill is a lover of arts and crafts. She is full of creativity and loves knitting and sewing. She is a proud grandmother and enjoys spending time with her family where she can too. Words of encouragement from Gill for someone looking for the right care home would be: “Good care needs to be observed. Make sure the home is clean. Look at the residents to see if they’re happy. Look at the website to see if there are activities going on and have a browse at the menus.”
