My wife will shortly have been a resident of Mill View for 12 months. Both my sons and I are very pleased with both the care and attention shown to her during this time. She is very well looked after, and all her family cannot thank all the staff at Mill View for this. With regards.

Generally, the site and grounds around the six various units are tidy, except Rutland House, where the rear areas are very unkempt. The footpaths are dirty and unattended and have become slippery due to surface mould and litter. The once-grassed areas are overgrown with weeds.

The residents are relatively unsteady and cannot go to these dangerous outside areas for fear of injury.

Reply from Paul Lawson, National Sales Manager at Mill View Care Home

Hello and thank-you very much for your feedback and review. We are happy to say that work has begun today on the grounds around Rutland House and will be completed by the middle of next week. Our apologies that the area became untidy, we have had a change of maintenance staff but the new team is...

My mum spent her last 5 months at Rutland House and we only wish we could have got her a place there sooner. A care home should be judged on the care that is given and we cannot fault how the staff looked after her. They took the time to get to know her and could immediately tell if she was out of sorts. You could tell that they genuinely liked my mum and wanted the best for her. My wife and I visited frequently and were always welcomed warmly. There were always smiles and laughter and we witnessed touching moments of care even when staff didn't realise they were being observed.

Thank you to all the wonderful staff at Rutland House.

Mum had been a resident at Dove House since May 2020. She was treated with respect, empathy and care throughout her stay by ALL the carers at the home. Her needs were met 24/7 and she had a lovely time living at the home. She enjoyed the garden and activities and the general chit chat from carers and residents alike. I would just like to thanks ALL the staff for their hard work and diligence Mum received whilst living there. Sadly Mum passed away at the end of June.

My Mum has been a resident at Mill View since 2018. Mill View Care Home comprises of six large purpose-built bungalows offering residential and nursing care. My Mum is a resident at Martin House which provides nursing dementia care. The home is light and airy, it's always clean and has its own garden. Residents rooms are on either side of a large communal lounge and dining area. The rooms are getting a little tired and could do with updating but what really counts is the excellent care my mother has had and that's worth way more than interior decorating.

I feel that the staff know my Mum really well, what she needs, how to respond to her when her behaviour is challenging and which activities she enjoys. The whole team seem to have endless patience and genuinely care for the residents. The staff contact me if they need to and they have a Facebook group to share photos of activities and celebrations with relatives. I'm thankful and reassured that my Mum lives at Mill View.

Due to lockdown, I haven't been able to have a proper look round, but up to now I'm happy with the care Mum is receiving. I can however rate the covid pod. My experience was positive, lovely little pod, although not the same as being able to hold Mum's hand, it was nice to see her. Two members of staff, in particular, are excellent, cannot praise them girls enough, they go above and beyond and are really friendly. Keep up the good work girls.

My mum has been in Mill View since 2014. She has been cared for with genuine kindness, the staff are amazing. They perform a challenging job with a smile and good nature. Our family have been able to sleep at night and not worry about our dear mum. I used to take care of her and I truly feel they are angels. Thank you so much for all that you do. Plus the pod and testing is excellent, well organised and efficient. It's so wonderful to see our mum. Keep safe.

Since my grandmother became a resident of Atlas House she has been extremely happy, the staff are amazing and look after her. I now know that it was the right choice for my grandmother as she’s had made friends and everytime I see her she’s smiling which is a pleasure to see. Thank you team Atlas!

The staff are really lovely and definitely care about my nan and her needs. Due to lockdown, I cannot review the actual unit however the visiting pod has been a lifesaver throughout lockdown and we are enjoying being able to see her in person rather than via a screen or on the phone.

My mum has been a resident in Albion House since July 2020 and we are happy with the care she is receiving. The staff are always very helpful and pleasant and regular updates on their Facebook page are a warm and lovely insight into events that the residents participate in. It's good to know that mum is safe and has settled in.

I look forward to phoning her every few weeks, to have a quick chat and catch up and have done a couple of window visits, weather permitting. With the addition of the visiting POD, this has been an excellent opportunity to bring our family back together in a safe and warm environment, an experience that has been beneficial to us all. It was emotional as Dad hadn't seen mum since 7th March 2020 and we talked, laughed and smiled. I would recommend that families take up the POD visit as it is a heartwarming experience. Thank you to the staff who have helped to support the POD visits.

My mother has severe dementia and has lost the capacity to look after herself. It became apparent just over two years ago that she would need to go into care for her own good, and also to give my father a rest and breathing space from the violence and abuse which can ride tandem with dementia. My mother had received some respite care at an excellent respite care home, but this was only a temporary solution to the situation. After looking at and visiting several care homes within the area, we found Mill View Care Home. After a single viewing, I had no doubts in my mind whatsoever that this was the best facility we had visited. My mother made a relatively smooth transition to the care home. Almost immediately, her demeanour became more placid and calm. She has since moved units within the care home to cater to her needs. She now resides in the Martin Unit. I cannot praise the staff enough for the care she receives.

When Dad required care for his Alzheimer’s, we visited so many homes to find him the best possible care home to meet his needs. It was really difficult but my husband and myself, but on visiting Rutland House, part of the Mill View Advina Care Home, we felt welcomed, reassured and comfortable on our visit. Staff are hardworking, professional and caring.
My dad has lived there since 2015 and we have always been happy and reassured that he is in a safe and homely environment.
We as a family have visited Dad in the past (before COVID), on a regular basis, 2/3 times a week and we have always felt very welcome.

We would like to thank you all for everything you do for my dad. You are very much appreciated.

My wife was in Mill View and got the best care. The nursing staff and careers were brilliant. I must mention the 2 registered nurses on Victoria House where my wife was, they went above and beyond themselves. They printed photos for me to put on her wall and kept me up to date via email on how my wife was progressing. Nothing was too much trouble even though they had other residents to deal with. In fact, they have become friends. I would recommend Mill View care home to people who have a difficult choice to make.

My dad has been in Mill View Care Home since June 2019. The staff are so very caring. Since COVID they have kept us up to date. They even FaceTime so we can see our dad. They have plenty of activities, the meals are wonderful. I have been on many occasions just before lunch, they have a 3-course meal. I witnessed a meal for a resident that requires pureed food, it was set out like the proper meal the veg had been puréed separate to the potatoes and meat. All separate so it looked like the meal all the other residents were having. The staff are always very helpful and will do anything for the family and residents. I cannot speak highly enough of all the staff. I would definitely recommend the care come.

Very lovely staff who cared for my Nannie with dignity, care and respect. They were helpful and supportive during the lockdown, organising FaceTime sessions, phone call updates and emails during the day and night. These brought comfort and reassurance during a difficult time. Not only was my Nannie loved and supported, but care and support were provided for the family too.

From the day we viewed Martin House at Mill View Care Home, we knew this was the right choice for my sister. She has the freedom to walk around safely but is always observed so we know she is safe. The meals always look lovely and daily menus are displayed. Drinks are provided regularly which is so important. The home always looks very clean with no unpleasant smells and the staff are lovely with my sister and our family.
