Mill View has been my mums home for the last four years. She had advanced dementia and the unit she lived in was Rutland house EMI nursing. I cannot praise the staff enough for their care and dedication and respect to my mum, and the care and respect they gave to myself and my family. When my mum was put on end of life, the staff on Rutland were amazing, it was a very emotional time for me and my family and they were there for us 24/7. God bless you all and thank you.

The staff are all very welcoming. They do their very best for my husband. I am very pleased with all aspects of the home.
They do make my husband comfortable. He is always well presented.

I would recommend this section of Mill View Care Home (Martin House) to everyone for their loved ones.

My mother is very well looked after by the dedicated staff. The home is very clean and well cared for with a comfortable lounge. She has a key carer who lets me know if any supplies such as toiletries are required.

Our mum is well cared for at Victoria House. Staff work hard and have become "family" too.
Communication is good, nurses always keep us informed/

It gives me great peace of mind that mum's needs are maintained to good standards.

As an occasional visitor, I cannot comment on some of the questions. I find the staff excellent and hardworking. The rooms in Maring House need a refurb as does the whole building inside and outside area. Another of the houses seemed much more bright and cheerful and welcoming, and fresher we do take the resident outside weather permitting and would welcome more seating and perhaps a little shelter of some kind, perhaps like a bus shelter for colder windy days.

My mother, 99, has lived in Atlas House, Mill View Care Home, Bolton, for 17 months, since 10th October 2017.
I have wide experience of care homes, as a priest and as an ex-community psychiatric nurse for the elderly.

Rarely have I witnessed such kindness, patience, imagination, creativity, personalised care as my mother and our family receive here. We dreaded a care home, but our fears were groundless.

My Aunt went into Mill View Care Home for respite and then into longterm care, between September - December 2018, at which point I moved her due to the lack of care, she often had incorrect clothing no socks or underwear, dirty hair, she was not encouraged to walk and constantly put into a wheelchair.
She was so ill when I visited in December I had to request that staff call a doctor -symptoms had gone untreated and not reviewed appropriately.
I did not see a caring environment or any respect for any of the elderly clients. There were too few staff and they were often sitting around not engaging with clients.
My Aunt lost 4.5 kilos in 1 week.
Thankfully she is now in a new care home in a different part of the country almost back to her old self, walking everywhere and putting weight on.

I would not recommend this establishment.

Reply from Cheryl Wildman, Home Manager at Mill View Care Home

I am obviously very disappointed to hear that you felt the standard of care for your Aunt did not meet your expectations. My dad was discharged from hospital into Mill View on 10 October.
This was an extremely difficult time for my family as my brother died in June and, at the time dad was due to be discharged from hospital, my mum suffered a stroke and, against all expectations, died in hospital before she was discharged.
During dads stay in Mill View the staff and management were extremely understanding and supportive of my family’s needs; they allowed a member of staff to escort my dad to mums funeral in November and treated dad with absolute kindness and respect.
They kept me in the loop every step of the way if anything happened or anything was needed.
Sadly my dad also died on 3 December after a brief illness; however the day before, he was bright and cheerful.
Everyone in dads unit did their utmost to cater for dads practical and emotional needs.

I honestly cannot thank them enough.

When we started looking for care homes for my grandad (who at the time had spent months in hospital and couldn't return home). We viewed homes in the 10s. We wanted the best for my grandad somewhere we could spend with him as a family. Millview (Rutland) made us feel very welcome. They are a very friendly team and welcome us every time we visit. I often take my two young children (age 11 months and 5 years). Since moving to Millview grandad has come on leaps and bounds. The staff team support him round the clock (often having a little dance at 2am in the morning). My grandma often struggles leaving him and can gets upset. The team are very supportive of her too. They even provided us with space to have an 80th birthday party which meant so much, making memories that will last. We are very happy with Mill View Care Home. The staff have a very difficult job and they do it day and night. I can’t thank them enough for all that they do, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I have no issues with the quality of care that my mother is receiving. All the staff are approachable, considerate, friendly and very helpful. My only concern is that it seems to be the policy that all toiletries have been removed from the sink area and in my mother's case placed in the wardrobe. Not a good idea for those who are forgetful and don't remember where they are kept.

No matter what time you visit Atlas Houser has a lovely atmosphere. Everyone is welcoming and always have a spare minute to say hello. I've been a nurse for 34 years and expect the best possible care for my 103-year-old grandma and I believe she receives this.

It's good to know my very special/wonderful grandma is receiving the care she should.

My husband had vascular dementia, due to my illness and treatment he had to go into care. He was re-assessed after 3 months to needing more secure accommodation and went to Millview (Albion House). He settled very well under the excellent care received, but had to be hospitalised with flu. After 8 weeks in the hospital, he was re-assessed as end of life care and moved back to Millview Rutland House. Under the excellent care, he was back to normal in 3 months.

It is now Dad's second stay at Mill View. He was in Dove House, but now resident in Martin House. His vascular dementia has made him a different chap to look after and his obsession to escape care is heartbreaking at times. But we fee Martin House are looking after him as is best possible. We feel he is in the best place, with Mum being across in Albion, which means we can get them together on visits. Martin House phones us to keep us in touch with any issues or concerns regarding Dad, which give us peace of mind when we can't be there.
