“My passion is end of life care and ensuring that residents are advocated for and families experience support at the worst time.”
Nichola has worked in the Health and Social Care sector for 17 years and has been with Regency for four years. Nichola comes from a family of nurses and believes this was her calling in life.
Why did you decide to join Lovett Care
Having suffered bereavements myself, it emphasised my need to want to care for others. I wanted to be a positive change agent ensuring the delivery of meaningful care and treatment to a high standard.
Also, I was really impressed by the care and nursing team at Regency as they strive to deliver person-centred care to the highest achievable standard. I liked how the home is friendly, engaging and has a homely atmosphere.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
As the Registered Manager, I enjoy having the opportunity to make meaningful changes to the service that directly affects the health optimisation of the residents in my care. Also, I like how nothing is too much for the care team and they always go above and beyond their duties to ensure the residents lives are enriched.
My passion is end of life care and ensuring that residents are advocated for and families experience support at the worst time.
What are your favourite hobbies and pastimes?
I have two teenage children and my little dog Bella, so I enjoy spending time with family and going on trips away. I am also passionate about fundraising for charities.
Are there any highlights in your career you are particularly proud of?
In 2018, I was awarded the FSHC National Deputy Manager Award from 235 applicants. Also, in 2019, the Chief Nursing Officer visited Regency and commended the service we provide.
Recently, in 2020 myself and the home was awarded 'The High Sheriff Special Recognition Award' for outstanding care delivered and innovation shown throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
What are your Qualifications?
I worked as a hospital auxiliary for the first part of my career. Then I went on to complete my nurse training. I worked a registered mental health nurse across a variety of hospital settings, before working the private sector in 2015.
In 2016, I took the role of Deputy Home Manager at Regency. After a short period, I became the registered Home Manager.
What top tips would you give someone when looking for the right care home?
If you are looking to place a loved one in care, I would advise anyone to read the CQC inspection report and look around all available facilities to ensure the choice you make is the right one for you and your family.
