On sunny days, residents can benefit from visiting the large landscaped garden, or relax on the patio area to enjoy the warm weather. Each private bedroom has a 24-hour call system which help residents to live as independently as possible in a safe environment. New large 'Super Suite' rooms boast lovely aspect views out over the gardens to the front of the home and include a wet room and space to accommodate items of your choice.
The home works hard to cater for any special dietary requirements and seeks regular feedback on mealtime options to ensure everyone enjoys the food offered.
Regular reminiscence groups are organised for residents to help them live well with dementia and engage residents with activities. Gentle exercise is encouraged in the form of armchair aerobics to stimulate residents and keep people active.

Initially, communication was poor. There are still issues, such as not being able to video call with Mum. Since a complaint was made communication is very good. Mum is well cared for and I am truly pleased with her placement, just a few tweaks then it will be excellent.

My mum, who has dementia, has been in Woodend Care Home for over four years and has now been joined by my dad, who is having respite care after a spell in hospital. They are looked after very well by friendly staff, spending a lot of the day together, even though they reside on different floors.

My mother is currently staying here and she is very happy. All the staff are very understanding of all her needs. My mother is 88 years old and it is lovely to see her smiling in the latter stages of her life.

First impressions were very good, very friendly and helpful. My brother has settled in well. Not wanting to pack his back as he was in the hospital. Nothing too much trouble. Setting lovely, nice and peaceful.

My uncle moved into Woodend Care Home in late December 2022. Beautiful room, exceptionally clean and well decorated. The care he has received from the staff has been outstanding, nurses and care assistants, nothing is too much trouble. All staff are friendly and helpful. The home is cleaned constantly throughout the day and to a very high standard. My uncle really enjoys the food, all prepared fresh daily and to an amazing standard and variety. Since moving into Woodend Care Home he has gained his confidence and he is very happy and settled. Thank you all.

Our lovely dad moved into Woodend in May 2019 following 3 months in hospital where he was extremely poorly. We thought his stay at Woodend would be short as he was so frail. After a short time, Dad was up and about cracking jokes and making friends. Family visited daily until Covid hit then, like many, his 'family' were the care team at Woodend. They were all brilliant, putting our minds at rest. Dad continued to remain well until a few months ago, he slowly started to decline. The team at Woodend have treated him with so much love, dignity and respect, they followed Dad's wishes not to go into hospital and to be cared for at Woodend. Mum visited Dad and she too was added to the Woodend 'family' which gave her so much strength. During his final days family visited continually and we were supported so well. We stayed over for three nights and again the staff were amazing. Sadly, Dad passed away this week. We cannot fault the care and attention Dad received both in life and beyond. Thank you.

Such a lovely experience, thank you.

The recent Platinum Jubilee celebrations were incredible.
Mum had her hair washed and blow waved that morning, nails were painted and she was dressed in clothes that had the Jubilee colours on, she looked so happy when we arrived.
Everywhere was decorated beautifully and party hats for all.
A great selection of food, drinks and music. The day was very well organised.
The gardens are absolutely beautiful which is where we celebrated first before going inside for a sing-along, love filled the lounge with everyone involved enjoying themselves.
Cakes, teas and coffee were served to all.
The activity leaders and staff are incredible and all went above and beyond to make this day a very special one.
Thank you for such a memorable day.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are glad you like the new look at Woodend.
My mother was no longer safe to live in her own home even with a lot of support. Finding the right 24-hour care setting for her involved a good deal of research because the decision needed to be right the first time as routine and familiarity mattered given Mum’s advancing dementia. Thanks to the...
I would like to thank everyone who works on the Stamford Unit for the compassionate care they have given my mum, especially recently after a stay in hospital upset Mum’s equilibrium leaving her anxious and upset. Special thanks to the nurse in charge of the unit who leads a team of wonderful people who make a real difference to the quality of my mum’s life and give me peace of mind.
Woodend is well-run and found in a lovely leafy setting but it’s the people that work there that really make it a good place to be.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are so glad to hear that the transition was easier than you had anticipated and that you have peace of mind knowing that your mum is safe and well cared for at Woodend. Thank you again for your kind words.

I have wanted to see my friend for many months, due to the current situation this has not been possible. The staff have kept me updated on a regular basis and are a complete joy to speak to. Nothing is too much trouble when relaying messages and updates. My friend speaks so highly of the staff and how well they have coped under very trying circumstances. The food is spot on and when I have visited previously have always been included at mealtimes, and at the very least always offered a drink and snack. They really do include everyone and make, not only the resident but visitors alike feel part of the family. I cannot recommend the staff and home highly enough.

I’d like to thank everyone at the Tatton unit for looking after my Mum so well. When she came to Woodend straight from hospital, we were naturally anxious, especially as due to lockdown restrictions, we hadn’t even had a chance to see the place, however, my mum is happy. She can be challenging, but, only ever has nice things to say about the unit and her caters - believe me, if she was not happy, we’d hear about it.
Thank you so much for your lovely words. We are so pleased to hear Mum is happy in our care and that we can help in easing the anxieties finding a care home, during lockdown, can naturally cause.
Thank you to the Tatton floor. You made this hard experience in 2020/21 a lot easier whilst you cared for our loved one. Right till the end, the staff were so supportive and kept us updated, especially one particular member of staff. I can’t thank you all enough for your support.

I’m Jane, and I joined Woodend as Home Manager in June 2022.
I became a nurse because I wanted to look after people. I qualified in 1978 and have worked in the NHS and the private sector. I also worked overseas in Abu Dhabi for 10 years.
Throughout my career, I have always been passionate about the care of the elderly, which is the reason I joined the care sector 25 years ago. Care of the elderly is complex - some have many physical needs or may be living with dementia. The work is so rewarding, though, and residents have such wonderful tales to tell. Part of my role is also to support their loved ones, who also become part of our family.
Outside of work, I have three children and four grandchildren. Family is very important to me, and they all know how much I love my job. I have lots of interests, including gardening, reading, travel and going to the theatre.

I’m a Clinical Deputy Manager at Woodend, having joined as a Registered General Nurse, before advancing to Unit Manager. I qualified as a nurse in 2024 and previously worked with the NHS as an Endoscopy Nurse. My true passion lies in elderly care and in June 2024, I took on my current leadership role, bringing my expertise and dedication to the team.
Outside of work, I’m a proud mother to a wonderful daughter and I have a close-knit family, including four siblings and cherished nephews and nieces. In my spare time, I love traveling, watching sports —particularly football — and staying active through walking and yoga.

I was a catering manager in a 120-bedded home in Warrington but went back to college and received all my NVQ administration 1,2,3, and Management level 4.
I then worked at a care home as an administrator. After 12 months I was promoted to non-clinical Deputy Manager, which I did for two years. After some consideration in where my role was going, I decided to go back to a financial administrator role and applied to work at Woodend.
I am a very caring person and I love to be able to help others and see their reaction when I can do this.
Outside of work I am married with one son who is 24 and at university. I still love to cook and bake, which I do often and treat the staff here at Woodend. I like to swim and walk where and when I can. I always love to push myself and learn new things.

I have spent many years in Health and Social Care, specialising in older people with dementia. I also taught adults and children with learning difficulties/disabilities/ complex health problems and mental health issues.
I love being able to make a difference to the lives of individuals and do my best to give them the best quality of life possible.
I live relatively near Woodend but have lived very close to it in the past and am very active in community work in the area. I enjoy walking , rambling and cycling, singing, cooking, embroidery - just not enough time for everything! I am also president of a local Rotary Club and undertake voluntary work with The Homeless and Older People. I also enjoy visiting places and going to the theatre.

I began my career at Woodend in 2007 as a Hotel Service Assistant, where I developed a strong foundation in hospitality. In 2012, I transitioned to the kitchen as a Kitchen Assistant and steadily progressed to the role of Cook. During this time, I pursued my NVQ qualifications to become a fully qualified chef. After completing my Level 3 NVQ in Senior Chef training in 2018, I was promoted to Chef Manager, a position I have held ever since, overseeing kitchen operations with dedication and expertise.
Outside of work, I maintain an active lifestyle by regularly attending the gym and running. I also enjoy hiking and have completed the UK’s Three Peaks—Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdonia—alongside colleagues from Woodend, fostering teamwork and camaraderie beyond the workplace.

I was self-employed for several years before moving to Spain in 2006. I returned to the UK in 2011 and joined Woodend.

I was self-employed for several years before moving to Spain in 2006. I returned to the UK in 2011 and joined Woodend.
I love the connection I have with the residents; they make me laugh, they make me cry, but I honestly could not think of a better work environment. I am a friendly person with a good sense of humour, and I feel the residents know this and they make coming to work a pleasure for me.
I live locally and I’m married with two children and six grandchildren. We have a caravan in Anglesey which we go to whenever we can, and we love going for lovely coastal walks. I also enjoy holidays abroad, especially Greece.
