My husband has been at Belong Wigan for 6 1/2 years and sadly passed away this month. The home have been outstandingly supportive and caring towards my husband and the family during these difficult times and the love shown from the whole staff team has been exemplary.

My husband did a farewell pass at the home on his final travel to the cemetery and we were greeted by residents, friends and staff to say their goodbyes to Bill. Thank you for such a lovely farewell, it was emotional and pleasing to see the love they had for him.

My friend has found Belong to be a very caring, compassionate and extremely welcoming place. The day she arrive at Belong she wasn't in a good emotional place due to circumstances at home. Within a few weeks she became much more relaxed and calm and was no longer frightened. All of the staff are excellent and very loving towards the residents. On reflection, I couldn't think of anything better to spend your hard earned money on than your own health, well-being and care at Belong. There needs to be more places like Belong.

Five stars all the way!

My wife was diagnosed with Alzheimers and she has the additional issue of being blind it seemed to us she had given up on life until we brought her to Belong. Our Mum recently passed away after almost 9 years as a resident of Belong Wigan. We cannot praise everyone at Belong highly enough they are amazing not only extremely professional at their job, but they go above and beyond everyday for all the residents, the households feel like one big family.

Moving my mum to Belong was a very easy decision to make the facilities and staff make it feel like a new start for my mum, and within a week I could see she looked better than she had in ages due to the round the clock care she has been receiving. The staff are truly wonderful and have encouraged her to join in the activities, gym and outings that are on offer. I have complete confidence in the care they are providing they are on the ball with medication and reviews it is a wonderful facility truly providing a 5* service.

My mother has been in Belong Wigan now for nearly two years. She has dementia and is virtually bed ridden
She has always been cared for in the most sympathetic and considerate way by all the staff involved with her. They have gone out of their way to make her feel at home even when she could be difficult at times. I was particularly impressed when some of the staff came into work in their own time and at their own expense to arrange a birthday party for her.
I have always found the staff helpful and open when I wanted to discuss any issue my mother may have had with her care.

In short I cannot praise the Care Home and staff high enough for the care my mother has received over the past two years

Our sister came into Belong wigan in October 2025. She has Alzheimers and previously lived in Leeds with live in care. We find she is very well cared for in Willow house and the staff are very caring. It is good that we can come and take her out or eat as a family in the Bistro. It is a very clean environment and we think we made the right choice in choosing Belong Wigan.

I can't recommend this care home highly enough.
My Dad just loves the daily activities and trips out in the mini bus that make his life enjoyable at 98 years.
He is allowed to maintain his independence while getting the care that he now needs.

He particularly likes going to The Bistro every day for his lunch which is a lovely social event with nutritious delicious food.

My auntie had been on one of the households until she passed away with dignity, love and care.
So when mum needed 24 hour care. There was nowhere else I would consider for her.
I wanted for mum what her sister had previously.

When we visit all the staff are friendly and caring. It feels like home from home. Everywhere is clean & tidy and lots of activities and events to keep everyone entertained. They even have their own mini bus now for trips out. In my opinion there is nowhere better.

My auntie moved into Belong March 24. The care team made her so very welcome and she loved her time here. Her carers 'loved' and cared for her with such dignity, they couldn't do enough for her and us as a family. They went over and beyond what I could only hope for. I would highly recommend Belong + all the staff as you'll be in safe hands if you come here!

Belong Village, Wigan has provided faultless care to my mum since she moved into a household about six months ago. The 24/7 presence of the care staff is highly reassuring and every carer takes their responsibilities seriously, getting to know the residents individually by spending time with them to understand and cater for each person's needs. The standard of care is very high and medical support is available if necessary in the form of onsite nursing staff. Fresh meals are produced three times a day within the household, to a high standard: all dietary needs are catered for and staff are flexible so Mum always gets food, even if she misses a mealtime. A convivial atmosphere is encouraged by the carers and Mum has made new friends and revived old connections since living at Belong Wigan, much to her benefit. A huge effort is put into the provision of meaningful and fun activities, including trips out in the minibus. I highly recommend this home and can't thank staff enough.

Overall Experience
I needed one week respite at short notice following the sudden closure of the place where I normally go. I was so lucky to find this excellent nursing home that could accommodate me in Laurel House. I was a little nervous, with it being my first stay, but I need not have worried as the care and attention I received from all the staff was second to none. I use a ceiling track hoist at home for transfers and here they used a very comfortable mobile hoist which was perfect.
I had a very spacious, modern room with a profile bed and air mattress. It also had a TV, fitted wardrobes, desk, cupboards and walk-in wet room.
Laurel House, like the other five 'houses' at Belong, only has eleven residents which made the lounge and dining area very cosy and homely.
The food was very good both in the 'house' and also in the bistro on the ground floor.

I really enjoyed my respite week and will definitely be going back in the near future. I would have no hesitation in recommending this wonderful place.

My father has been in Belong Wigan for nearly three years before he very sadly passed away. The care home is excellent, from the receptionists who are welcoming and knowledgeable to the bistro staff who are friendly and provide excellent food.
The care, love and support my father received in Cedar House was fabulous. My father suffered from dementia and at first, he was very active but displayed classic symptoms of sundowning in the evenings. He liked to arrange tables and chairs in the home which was sometimes annoying but the staff were always on hand to divert his attention.
In his last year, Dad lost the ability to walk and he became "grumpy". He hated having to be hoisted into a wheelchair or turned to be changed. This did not put the staff off, they continued to do their best for Dad.
The staff at Cedar House made our family feel part of the household - they looked after us and gave us emotional support in the challenging times.

I would highly recommend Belong as a care home.

Mum was in Willow House for a year. The staff prioritised her wishes and well-being at every stage of her illness. She was always treated with dignity and kindness and during her end-of-life stage, Mum was given outstanding care, beyond what we would expect. Willow House is a home to the residents and always felt homely, very clean and everyone was very well cared for. All staff gave highly professional care. Thank you.

Lana's goal was to move away from acute care into a social care setting and in 2016 she began her career at Belong Wigan, as a Registered Nurse. She went on to be nominated for the Good Nurse Award at the 2017 Great British Care Awards, before progressing to the role of Lead Nurse in 2018 and in April 2019 she was appointed to the role of Support Manager. In 2021, due to the retirement of the village’s long-serving front-of-house manager, Tanya made the decision to move back to the front-of-house team to lead the front-of-house, administration and caretaking teams.

Charlene Frodsham
Charlene FrodshamJob Title:Experience Coordinator

Local community champion, Charlene Frodsham, from Wigan, joined the team at Belong Wigan in early 2021, taking up the post of experience coordinator and working alongside residents and colleagues to provide a creative programme of meaningful occupation via events, one-to-one and group activities.

Initially from a customer service background, Charlene's enthusiasm and cheerful nature prompted her to take on the role of community champion for the supermarket brand Asda. It was here that her talent shone as she organised community challenges and fundraising activities for local groups and charities, including those that provide dementia care and support for adults with learning disabilities. When donating board games to Belong, she was 'blown away' by their set-up, which far exceeded her expectations of a typical care provider. Upon learning about the vacancy of experience coordinator, Charlene was excited to apply, feeling this was an opportunity that she couldn't let pass by.

Taking a leading role in both these programmes, Charlene will be working closely with the residents and providing activities to inspire and delight them.
