I have really enjoyed my stay here at Richmond House. All the staff are caring and kind. Nothing is too much trouble and we are treated with dignity and it means so much when you are feeling unwell. The food is good and served with a smile and kind words. I would recommend this home to friends and family.

When I arrived, I was greeted well and given a drink. I had a pleasant room overlooking trees. The staff were extremely kind and reassuring. I wash and have problems with waterworks but clothes and bedding were changed promptly and gently.
The food is varied and enjoyable and the dining room is very
attractive. Tables are beautifully set with proper white tablecloths.
The staff are all delightful and go the extra mile to make you comfortable. It is excellent to have Wi-Fi and charging point for Ipads and mobile phones.

During the period that my late mother was a resident. I found the staff carers and admin alike to be kind, patient and helpful. My mother's needs seemed to be met as far as was humanly possible. Her room was clean and the food good.

Treated my mum with care and respect when she came in for rehabilitation. Her stay was very pleasant. The carers, nurses and physio all made her feel very welcome and was very caring. Staff also made mums visitors welcome.

The food was variable from poor to reasonable. Soup and a single sandwich is the mainstay of lunchtimes and is insufficient. The staff are friendly and courteous.

Our Chefs pride themselves in knowing the tastes of our Residents and preparing a choice of home cooked, fresh, nutritional meals and catering for any dietary and cultural needs.
Soup and Sandwiches are served at lunchtime with an alternative meal also available. Residents are able to choose from a minimum choice of two meals at each sitting. Positive feedback is received on a daily basis about menu choice/meals.
The Home Manager has an open door policy, please feel free to call in and discuss any concerns you may have.

From the moment Mum was admitted the family have been delighted and relieved about mums treatment. The staff clearly explained the problems, nursing care and physio were excellent. Mum has told me herself that the staff were kind, polite and understanding and made mum welcome in her temporary home.

Whilst in the rehabilitation unit in Richmond House Dad has been well looked after and treated with dignity and respect. The staff have been helpful and have responded to questions about Dad's condition promptly and efficiently. Dad says he has no complaints at all.

Very noisy during visiting times. Children running up and down corridors. Patients calling for help and being ignored. Only two baths in two weeks. The staff were friendly, but sometimes when we needed to ask something there weren't any staff available that could answer our concerns. The décor was dated.
Food was satisfactory. Medication suddenly taking a lot more, tablets throughout the day without knowing why and what they were for.

What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?


“I believe kind care is treating each person as an individual and enabling them to make their own life choices.”


As a Registered Nurse, Lorraine has gained over 35 years’ experience in providing care and support to older people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Having worked at Richmond House for a number of years, Lorraine shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Richmond House.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Lorraine remarked: “Knowing that I can go home at the end of the day leaving my residents happy and well cared for.”


Away from work, Lorraine enjoys swimming, watching Rugby League and DIY.
