I have been amazed and delighted by the care, support and respect I have been shown in Richmond House. You hear so many negative reports about care homes but my experience has been 100% positive. The assistant manager is fantastic and always goes the extra mile to ensure your comfort and care.
The
physio and all the staff work tirelessly. I give Richmond House five stars.

Very pleased with overall care. Staff go the extra mile. One member of staff kindly accompanied me to hospital providing support when I needed it. Can't do enough for me, always cheerful and helpful. Only criticism of this person is her singing is awful!

I cannot praise the staff and management of Richmond House too highly. The infirmary failed my mum. She was sent to Richmond House from the infirmary very poorly. It was Richmond House's own blood tests that identified mum's hypomagnesium. Now she has recovered and with the rehabilitation physio, she
is back to her old self. Richmond House has given us our mum back. For that we are truly grateful and we always will be. This is what care looks like.

An elderly neighbour has been transferred to Richmond House following a back and two hip operations. Unfortunately, her one relative is aged and caring for his bed ridden wife.
I have visited where possible every couple of days and spoken with your team for regular updates on her progress.
The care
team have an extremely demanding job but have always found time to update me. Their care and dedication to my neighbour has been to an extremely high standard, nothing has been too much trouble. She returns home tomorrow to continue her recovery. It's a big thank you to all the staff at Richmond House.

My mum has visited twice in the last six months and on both occasions the care she received was excellent. On the second visit, she was not as strong and she did struggle with walking and eating. The very experienced staff helped my mum to reach her full potential by offering her support with kind
words and encouraging her to eat in the dining room surrounded by others. The staff were all very cheerful and professional in their approach and I was delighted mum went there the second time she needed rehabilitation as I felt confident it would help her towards recovery. The meals whilst might not be to everyone’s taste, were varied and nutritious and well balanced. The rooms are welcoming and very homely which was what my mum needed.

I arrived here from the hospital about a week after breaking my left fumer. My recovery was uneventful and I was lucky enough to be given a room at Richmond House Care Home to recuperate after my operation. Since being here I have been treated with respect and dignity and total professionalism by all
members of staff. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care centre to any of my friends should they require care of the highest order.

A very good experience. The care and attention are excellent. The staff are very caring and always give that little bit extra to make life easier. An example of their extra care was when I first arrived, there was no TV in my room but one of the staff brought one from their own home and this has made
a great difference to my stay.

My mum stayed here for 3 weeks after being in the hospital. From arriving to departing she really progressed from not being able to stand up unaided, to walking the length of the corridors today rooms etc. The care she had was excellent, with all staff so helpful. The gentleman manager at the moment
is brilliant and so kind. Nothing too much trouble. Definitely, recommend this care home for a short stay or permanent residency. Menus always on display for residents and family to see. Lovely!

I was treated with respect. The staff were very obliging. I had a pleasant room and my own bathroom which was appreciated. The food, on the whole, was quite good. I have only a small appetite and found sometimes the meals a bit overwhelming. I just like plain food. Drinks were constantly provided and
nothing seemed too much trouble.

As a family, we have never had to experience the facilities of a residential care home for our 87-year-old mum.
We initially requested Richmond House for its reputation for intermediate care and can honestly say that this was the best choice ever. Whilst a resident for 3 weeks, mum was cared for with
great respect from the professional, a dedicated and fantastic team of workers. She felt very safe in this environment which in turn helped the family feel confident in her recovery.
The kindness shown was second to none. Thank you from all the family.

The staff in this home always show respect and care towards the residents. Not once in the 3 weeks, my father was in, did I see any signs of exasperation towards any of the residents or relatives. Not easy when the staff are so very busy. Do feel they could do with more colleagues. From a health and
safety point of view, there needs to be emergency pull cords on both sides of the room. Wires strung across the floor are a danger to patients, staff and visitors. The food does need to be served at a higher temperature. Many thanks for the excellent care.

Thank you for your positive comments regarding the care provision at Richmond House and the respect shown to your father who resided in our intermediate care unit. This is a very busy unit which provides people with intensive rehabilitation to allow them to return home. We have reviewed the serving temperature of the food following your comments as well as the probe temperatures at the point of service. Additionally, the home manager and deputy will carry out spot checks on this and will seek feedback from our residents. We have recently had a new nurse call system installed at the home, have reviewed your concerns regarding trailing leads and we have requested a number of pendants for our more independent residents to use when in their rooms.

As a Registered Nurse, Lorraine has gained over 35 years’ experience in providing care and support to older people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Having worked at Richmond House for a number of years, Lorraine shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Richmond House.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Lorraine remarked: “Knowing that I can go home at the end of the day leaving my residents happy and well cared for.”


Away from work, Lorraine enjoys swimming, watching Rugby League and DIY.
