St Nicholas Care Home

All the staff are very understanding with regards to the language changes of my Grandma.

Friendly staff who give full care to my mum. They have been here long term which is good for residents. If there are any concerns they are very prompt getting in touch. Everyone helpful if you have any questions. Mum has been here for 4 years and they have known how to care well during all stages of her illness.

I have visited my friend on many occasions over the past year. I've always found staff very caring and helpful, always polite. On observation of care and support is that clients are well looked after in a happy caring environment. Nothing is too much for staff. Thank you.

During mums time here she was treated with dignity and compassion. She was always clean as was her room. She enjoyed the food which was plentiful and varied.

My sister is very happy at Brocklebank, she is well looked after. Staff are very caring.

I visited mum today, the care she was receiving was very good. She has only been here a couple of days so she is still unsettled. The staff are friendly, approachable and helpful.

My granddad and auntie are both residents at St Nicholas' - one on Huskinson and the other on Brocklebank - and they have both received great care from the staff on each unit. My granddad has been in two previous care homes and had extremely bad falls and accidents but this has not happened at St Nicholas'. They are always cared for and family made to feel welcome. I think that some issues could be communicated better e.g. My granddad's seizures have never fully been explained, however, this has been referred to a doctor.

I find the overall home good, with some exceptional staff. I feel the home lacks enough activities. More entertainment should be provided or trips out. I'm sure if asked, friends and relatives would help. But on the whole, more day to day activities.

The home was clean and tidy and plenty of activities if wanted.

I am really pleased with the quickness of assessment in hospital and admission to the unit. Staff and nurses care for all his palliative care.

I have not as much worry as I know mum is being looked after.

The care staff are always on hand. The home is immaculately clean. The food seems to be of a good standard.

The staff are extremely helpful. The entertainments lady is not really helpful.

I am very pleased with the care and facilities that St Nicholas Care Home provide for my sister. The staff are really great in Brocklebank. Could ask for nothing better.

The care and understanding to my Mum's care is excellent. My mum is settled and happy in this environment. The staff are very helpful and friendly and professional.

They all treated him with very loving respect and on his difficult days they appealed to his sense of humour. Their pastoral care was also extended to me which I greatly appreciated. Gladstone House now has the care of my best friend of 50 years on my recommendation.

My dad settled in very well as the staff were friendly, concerned and interested in him as an individual. His room is clean, spacious and clothes well laundered. On every visit, he is clean and tidy. He enjoys his food and he is shown consideration when he prefers to remain a little longer in bed. There is usually a relaxed atmosphere, but other residents, if feeling unsettled, are dealt with patiently.

The quality of the food has improved since my complaint, packet (smash) potatoes has no place in residential care menu's.

We are confident that our uncle is being looked after well. The staff are pleasant and approachable. Our visits are not very frequent due to commitments so our observations below are based on what we have seen. We are confident that if any problem does arise HC One will contact us. We think this care home is expensive because self-funding clients are in the minority and therefore subsidise the clients funded by the local authority. It is unfair on people who have worked hard to fund their own retirement.

All staff at the home are pleasant and very patient with the residents.
