Sharston House Nursing Home, which is situated in a peaceful residential area close to Knutsford Town Centre, has recently had an impressive refurbishment. The home combines the warm, friendly feel of a family home with the elegance of an impressive Victorian residence.

The home offers nursing care for older people, in a luxury homely setting. It support residents needing either long term or short term care, including respite care. The home also specialises in providing end of life care and supporting people with Parkinson's Disease.

Set in beautiful grounds it has a large, pleasant patio area, with plenty of outdoor seating areas for residents to sit, relax and enjoy the fresh air, particularly during the summer months.

The home is spacious with a large lounge, quiet conservatory area and a music room as well as a café area where residents can spend time with family and friends.

Mealtimes are an important part of the day and chefs prepare delicious home cooked food to tempt even the most discerning appetite. Residents are encouraged to enjoy their meal in the dining room, taking their time, while socialising and making new friends.

The bedrooms are spacious and Residents are encouraged to personalised their rooms to make them as homely as possible, which helps them settle in quicker.

The well-being of residents is important and the home has a varied entertainment programme which takes into account the likes and dislikes of residents and the different levels of abilities of residents, including a film club, yoga sessions, music afternoons, craft, trips out and visiting professional entertainers.

My Mother has been a resident of Sharston House in Knutsford, Cheshire for 4 months. This is the 4th Nursing Home she has been in and I visited 26 different ones this time, as I was determined that she would have somewhere that was right for her complex needs. She is perfectly sound of mind but has
Parkinson's Disease which requires a complex medication regimen and attentive Caregivers who notice when she needs a top-up of her meds.
I am so delighted with Sharston House. The manager and her team are nothing short of outstanding. They are managing her needs and are always willing to adapt to the changes the Consultant makes. She is checked on regularly throughout the day and night time too.
She has her hair done weekly, assisted showers, and is joining in with the activities which she didn't have the confidence to do in her previous homes. She has been accompanied to the dentist and her medical appointments which I can no longer manage to do. And the food is really superb!

The care staff at Sharston House are excellent. They greet visitors by name and are so welcoming. They are very patient when dealing with residents and take time to ensure their needs are looked after.
They seem to work so well together as a team.
Although the property is a Victorian house rather
than a purpose-built building, I feel this makes it far more homely and has a better atmosphere than a modern building. This was a great help when settling in my mother-in-law when she first arrived and continues to be a benefit to this day.

My aunt has been in Sharston House since July and we only have praise for ger care and attention by the staff. Nothing is too much trouble for them and I know my aunt us very happy there and realised how well she is treated and looked after. Activities, my aunt doesn't participate but I know there is
a varied programme enjoyed by the other residents.

My parents are both 98 years old, nearly 99 and have been married for 77 years. There was a period of difficulties for my parents settling into the new location. They live together in a large double bedroom, small lounge, and ensuite. My Father has an assisted bed and they both enjoy a bright, happy
room with family pictures displayed on the walls. The care and support my parents receive is of the highest standard. This results in my family and myself being relaxed and happy knowing my parents are receiving the best possible care and support.

My sister has resided at Sharston House since January 2024. The staff are very caring, and extremely hardworking, carers, nurses, management, cleaners, chefs and kitchen staff, I cannot fault their dedication. The nurses and management are very diligent and always keep you informed of any changes etc.

My parents began their stay in a pleasant double room complete with an ensuite. We did request additional grab rails for safety in the bathroom which were fitted. My Mother died 5 weeks after admittance.
My Father remained in the double room but moved to a single room as it was too expensive to maintain.
Took my Father a few weeks to settle.
Some issues which we have mentioned e.g. H&S of bathroom. We have other concerns that we will bring up at the next residential meeting on 25/09/24.

I was told that following a knee operation because I lived alone I would not be able to go home so needed somewhere to stay for two weeks. I had been in Sharston House before I did not hesitate to phone the manager and ask if she could fit me in for two weeks. I very much enjoyed my time at Sharston
House, the staff were wonderful, without exception.

Mum has been a resident of Sharston House for 14 weeks of respite care. The initial stay was for 2-4 weeks and the manager has been extremely flexible in accommodating her extended stay, week by week. Without exception, all the staff have been kind and friendly and no request has been too much trouble.
The food has been great and the activity programme entertaining and varied. Mum has been happy and contented throughout her stay. Thank you!

My mum has been a resident at Sharston House for almost 3 years, she was accepted in a temporary rehabilitation capacity initially but sadly she did not recover fully enough to return home. My overall experience with the staff and management at Sharston House has been very positive. The home is welcoming.
The atmosphere is upbeat and friendly. The food is good and Mum has been well cared for during her stay.

My mum has been at Sharston House for about five years. Over the last two years she has been bedbound, every member of staff knows her really well. She is always well looked after and the company has spent a lot of money on the home, it's all in beautiful condition. Everyone who works at the home is

We used Sharston House for my wife on a short-term basis for respite care. The care she has received during her stay has been really good. The staff are caring, friendly and attentive with several going the extra steps to make sure my wife was always comfortable and well cared for, despite her being

Since Mother has been a resident at Sharston House I have been pleased with Mother's care. The staff have always been understanding and sympathetic. Any issues have always been dealt with efficiently. Mother will not engage a great deal with activities but she has always been antisocial which is a shame
because the activities team work really hard to provide an extensive range for the residents.

I have been very pleased with the care given to my Mother since she moved to Sharston House in October 2023. My Mum was very frail when she moved to Sharston House following a difficult time in hospital following a hip operation. She has made some good friends, joins in with the activities, and enjoys
the food. She has regained the weight lost whilst in hospital and is happy and settled.

My sister and I very much appreciate the standard of care given to our mother. It is a friendly and cosy home where the carers and staff go beyond 100% dedication many times. From my initial enquiry, the staff at Sharston House were all so professional, helpful and caring. Mum moved in just before Christmas and she is being extremely well cared for by everyone. Whenever time of day visitors come, we all get a very warm welcome and Mum's room is clean and staff are always
checking in with her. We are so grateful to have found Sharston House and to now have the peace of mind of knowing Mum is safe and her care needs are fully met. Thank you to everyone working there!

I completed my general nursing and midwifery in 1995 in India. Started my nursing career and worked in super speciality hospitals in medical and surgical wards till 2004.


After moving to the UK, I worked as a staff nurse at Macclesfield General Hospital for 6 years and in different healthcare settings as a nurse.


I joined Kingsley Healthcare in 2019 and held roles as Clinical Lead, Deputy Manager and now Home Manager as of 2022.

Kate has worked as an Administrator for over 10 years and has a wealth of experience in the role.


Kate has previously worked in Administrator roles in Hong Kong and, although she has never worked in the care sector before she is loving the challenge of such a busy positive.


She likes working with all the friendly team at Sharston House and enjoys meeting and chatting with residents and their relatives.


In her spare time Kate enjoys running, travelling and meeting new people

Sunali Weerasinghe

Job Title: Lifestyle Co-ordinator Joined: 2025

With over 20 years of experience in media planning, digital strategy, and brand communications across the Middle East and Sri Lanka, I have refined my skills in audience engagement, event curation, and personalised experiences. My expertise lies in designing meaningful and enriching activities that enhance residents' well-being, ensuring every event, social gathering, or therapeutic activity is tailored to their interests and needs. I hold a Master’s in Marketing Communication from Middlesex University, which has strengthened my ability to develop innovative and engaging programs that foster a strong sense of community and connection.


Beyond my corporate background, I am deeply passionate about person-centred care, ensuring that every resident feels valued, heard, and engaged. Whether organising stimulating social events, coordinating wellness activities, or arranging personalized experiences, my goal is to bring joy and fulfilment to residents' daily lives. My approach combines creativity, empathy, and meticulous attention to detail, creating a warm and inclusive environment where everyone feels at home.


I am also committed to intergenerational and community initiatives, having previously supported children's education through creative learning projects. My love for art and craft, baking, and event planning naturally led me to pursue a role as a Lifestyle Coordinator at Sharston House, where I bring my enthusiasm for creativity and connection to enhance the daily experiences of residents.

Louise

Louise Thompson

Job Title: Head of Care

Louise has worked at Sharston House for over 15 years, since she left school.
Initially Louise worked on a part time basis at the home as a Catering Assistant, while she was still at school, as she wanted to go to college and work in the Travel Industry however, she loved working at the home so much that when she left school she decide working in care was her calling and she took on the role as a Carer worker at the home.


During her time at Sharston House Louise has been keen to learn, develop and progress in her role. She has undertaken a number of courses including, her NVQ Level 3 in Care, CHAPS and has also completed a Diploma in Health and Social Care.


Passionate about delivering quality care, she has gained a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience during her career and was delighted to become Head of Care at the home.


In her spare time she loves spending time with her 2 children, which usually involves taking them to their various activities. She also loves going on holiday and exploring new places.

Fatima

Fatima Mir

Job Title: Head of Care

Fatima has worked at Sharston House for over 8 years, initially she started as a Support Worker.


Throughout her time at Sharston House she has been eager to learn, develop and progress in her role and successfully gained her NVQ Level 2 & 3 in Care as well as completing her CHAPS training which has helped her progress to the role of Head of Care at the home.


Fatima has gained a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience during her career and is passionate about delivering person-centred care to residents.
When she is not working Fatima loves relaxing, enjoying the outdoors and spending time with her 2 children.

Douglas

Douglas Hemlin

Job Title: Head Chef Joined: 2017

Douglas has been a chef at Sharston House for the past four years.


He completed his chef apprenticeship with the Hilton Group and worked at several of their hotels across the globe. He was also the executive chef at the Sea World resort in Australia. Douglas enjoys chatting with the residents and takes pride in providing them with five-star quality meals.
