So happy we found Sharston for my dad. Staff and care is second to none. Everyone is very caring and friendly. Lots of activities to help stimulate residents and the food is excellent.
Highly recommend Sharston - a little jewel!

Since Mother has been a resident at Sharston House I have been pleased with Mother's care. The staff have always been understanding and sympathetic. Any issues have always been dealt with efficiently. Mother will not engage a great deal with activities but she has always been antisocial which is a shame
because the activities team work really hard to provide an extensive range for the residents.

I have been very pleased with the care given to my Mother since she moved to Sharston House in October 2023. My Mum was very frail when she moved to Sharston House following a difficult time in hospital following a hip operation. She has made some good friends, joins in with the activities, and enjoys
the food. She has regained the weight lost whilst in hospital and is happy and settled.

My sister and I very much appreciate the standard of care given to our mother. It is a friendly and cosy home where the carers and staff go beyond 100% dedication many times. The nursing care is excellent and we feel that Mum is safe in their capable hands. The food is wonderful which our mother does
so enjoy.

From my initial enquiry, the staff at Sharston House were all so professional, helpful and caring. Mum moved in just before Christmas and she is being extremely well cared for by everyone. Whenever time of day visitors come, we all get a very warm welcome and Mum's room is clean and staff are always
checking in with her. We are so grateful to have found Sharston House and to now have the peace of mind of knowing Mum is safe and her care needs are fully met. Thank you to everyone working there!

Due to the urgent need for respite care at Christmas, Sharston House was able to meet Mum's needs at very short notice. Sadly, due to her condition, her health rapidly worsened, and we were advised by medical and specialist nurses not to move her. So, although we hadn't chosen Sharston House for Mum's
long-term care, we have been very happy with it. The staff are person-centred, they show empathy and compassion and adopt a holistic approach in caring for us as well as Mum. They have listed and actioned our requests. We were anxious at the start, but the staff quickly gained our confidence and trust.

My Mother has been a resident at Sharston House for over two years. In that time she has always been very well cared for by all the staff she has come into contact with. I feel confident that she is treated with dignity and is always safe. The activities at the home are excellent providing a wide variety
of interesting and creative themes. It is a shame that a number of carers have left recently but hopefully, the new recruits will be just as good. My only gripes are that the fees have increased a lot, three times in eighteen months and also that my Mother's bathroom smells rather damp and musty. I have raised both of these items with the manager.

My mum has been a resident of this home (Sharston House) for two and a half years. I have to say it is a lovely, caring home, and the care team starting with management, nursing team, care staff and domestic and kitchen staff are so amazing; they go above and beyond and work so, so hard in providing
fantastic care to the residents. They are very caring towards the families. I strongly recommend this home to anyone who is looking to find a care home for their loved ones, as it is a family home with the best care team and staff you could ever want and the best care that your loved ones deserve.

My mother has received excellent care for over two years now from a very professional and friendly team of staff. She is bedbound now but still enjoys chatting and watching television. The staff always respect her choices and are all so kind. Things seem to be more normal now, and we are always made
to feel welcome whenever we pop in for a visit. It is always lovely to see Mum eating so well.

The circumstances of my elderly relative changed suddenly resulting in a short stay in hospital followed by a period of rehab care in Sharston House. The house is lovely, it smells fresh and was spotlessly clean on my (so far) 2 visits and I receive a cheery hello from staff during my visits.
My relative
initially struggled with the thought of not being at home, but he soon made good relationships with the staff. Some of whom he likes so much, he'd be happy if they never went home! The nursing care on his previous skin wounds has been exemplary and other existing medical complaints have dramatically improved under the watchful eye of the team. He is not a joiner of groups but has very much enjoyed the weekly visit of the Pets as Therapy dogs in his room and the menu can be tailored for individual tastes.
I have been impressed with the responses when things haven't gone so well. Any issue has been listened to, addressed and resolved with sensitivity by the manager - I couldn't ask for more.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.753)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.753) out of 10 for Sharston House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 45 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 44 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.753 for Sharston House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (415 Excellents x 5) + (107 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 534 Ratings = 4.753
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Sharston House Nursing Home is based on 44 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 48 registered maximum number of service users is 9.6, which has been reached with 44 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
