Sharston House Nursing Home, which is situated in a peaceful residential area close to Knutsford Town Centre, has recently had an impressive refurbishment. The home combines the warm, friendly feel of a family home with the elegance of an impressive Victorian residence.

The home offers nursing care for older people, in a luxury homely setting. It support residents needing either long term or short term care, including respite care. The home also specialises in providing end of life care and supporting people with Parkinson's Disease.

Set in beautiful grounds it has a large, pleasant patio area, with plenty of outdoor seating areas for residents to sit, relax and enjoy the fresh air, particularly during the summer months.

The home is spacious with a large lounge, quiet conservatory area and a music room as well as a café area where residents can spend time with family and friends.

Mealtimes are an important part of the day and chefs prepare delicious home cooked food to tempt even the most discerning appetite. Residents are encouraged to enjoy their meal in the dining room, taking their time, while socialising and making new friends.

The bedrooms are spacious and Residents are encouraged to personalised their rooms to make them as homely as possible, which helps them settle in quicker.

The well-being of residents is important and the home has a varied entertainment programme which takes into account the likes and dislikes of residents and the different levels of abilities of residents, including a film club, yoga sessions, music afternoons, craft, trips out and visiting professional entertainers.

Mother was settled and happy at Sharston House once she got over the shock of Dad’s sudden death and the need for her to go into care.
She liked her room, which was important since she was bedridden.
She enjoyed the food and the home usually managed to adapt it to her needs e.g. pureeing some
things or leaving off a sauce which she did not like.
She was a fussy eater, a creature of habit and her condition could make her cranky so the home did very well in largely managing to accommodate her needs and quirks.
She did establish a deeper relationship with a few of the staff she particularly liked and her overall care was good.
On what I saw and experienced, I would recommend the home.

Although my Aunt is classed at the moment as a hospital patient her treatment is excellent. I cannot comment on value for money as I don't know this.

Sorry, not 100% positive about food - my taste-buds seem to have been affected by happenings...sorry chef! One suggestion I have, a more direct way of communicating with management/nursing staff. Care staff are so busy with so many different people with so many problems) Just an observation which may
be helpful. The smiling, attentive, personal care given by all the staff bounces off the walls and creates a happy, friendly atmosphere! Thank you to you all! Love and laughter.

Generally pleased with cleanliness and friendliness. Good variety of activities and entertainments. Mum took a while to settle. It would help if a) staff all wore name badges b) introductory booklet or leaflet would help with general routine i.e. mealtimes, laundry, hairdresser etc. c) fluid intake
could be better monitored. Mum often let her tea get cold, then removed by staff. She didn't like water in the jug, so often didn't drink enough.

Sharston House has a homely atmosphere, friends and family are made to feel very welcome. The standard of care is very good on the whole, the carers and nursing staff are very responsive to any questions regarding care provision. The food is of a very good, nutritional standard, paying particular attention
to individual dietary needs. The home provides a varied programme of entertainment and activities, providing stimulation for all the residents and their families. The home offers very good value for money providing a high standard of care.

We are fairly satisfied with Sharston House.
I appreciate it's a demanding job but to us, this is my dad, so to us, he is very special.
-Buzzing the bell, help does not always appear.
-Clothes have gone missing.
-A couple of members of staff not too keen on.

ALL the staff were very kind and pleasant and helpful when needed. I was treated with dignity and I felt no troubles at any time. If I had to go into a care home again, I would always ask for Sharston House.

My late mother stayed at Sharston House during the last four months of her life. She has been in two previous care homes which she did not like. However, the move to a proper nursing home was the best move, we the family, made. The staff at Sharston House are super professional and caring and my mum
loved it there. The management too are super caring and professional. I fully recommend Sharston House to anyone who needs 24/7 care.

My mother, at 96, has had a new lease of life here. The activities are wonderful and she has done more here than in the last decade. My brothers and I know she is being looked after really well, and are so happy to have complete peace of mind. The staff are exceptional. The place really feels like home
from home. We have already recommended it a number of times to others looking for care.

Own room really nice after 16 days in a hospital ward, which was very noisy. Minor negatives were almost perpetual "alarm beeps" and on occasions, a neighbour, presumably hard of hearing, with the radio turned up. Food was good and varied. Staff were excellent. Very helpful and cheerful.

When we chose Sharston House for my mother we made a very wise choice. At the age of 97, after living on her own with help she reached the point where she needed 24-hour care. We, her family, have been most impressed by all the staff at the home. Mum settled in well, enjoying good food provided by an
excellent Chef and regular activities and entertainment which was provided by super, happy activities staff.
The nurses and carers are pleasant, hard working and well motivated. The manager and administrator have always been very approachable, understanding and helpful. Excellent!

My mum has continued to thrive in Sharston House.
She is 97 years old, blind and arthritic so has her up's and downs but she is very well fed and looked after. She looks forward to the activities every day and the staff are good to her.

I am very happy and settled here and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
The food is very good.

My wife had a number of problems, particularly limited mobility. The carers at Shaston coped well and my wife was treated compassionately and became one of the family. Her second home.

My mother received intermediate care after a major operation. All the staff are friendly and attentive and very thoughtful. Mum was well cared for, care tailored to her individual needs. She felt content and secure and it was a good place for her to make her recovery from surgery.

My father was in Sharston for 3 weeks respite while my mother recovered from an operation.
We found dad was treated with respect, dignity and friendliness. The staff can't do enough and it feels very homely.

I completed my general nursing and midwifery in 1995 in India. Started my nursing career and worked in super speciality hospitals in medical and surgical wards till 2004.


After moving to the UK, I worked as a staff nurse at Macclesfield General Hospital for 6 years and in different healthcare settings as a nurse.


I joined Kingsley Healthcare in 2019 and held roles as Clinical Lead, Deputy Manager and now Home Manager as of 2022.


I am compassionate, dedicated, caring, and supportive to the residents, family and staff and a good team player.

Kate has worked as an Administrator for over 10 years and has a wealth of experience in the role.


Kate has previously worked in Administrator roles in Hong Kong and, although she has never worked in the care sector before she is loving the challenge of such a busy positive.

Louise Thompson

Louise has worked at Sharston House for over 15 years, since she left school.
Initially Louise worked on a part time basis at the home as a Catering Assistant, while she was still at school, as she wanted to go to college and work in the Travel Industry however, she loved working at the home so much that when she left school she decide working in care was her calling and she took on the role as a Carer worker at the home.


During her time at Sharston House Louise has been keen to learn, develop and progress in her role. She has undertaken a number of courses including, her NVQ Level 3 in Care, CHAPS and has also completed a Diploma in Health and Social Care.


Passionate about delivering quality care, she has gained a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience during her career and was delighted to become Head of Care at the home.


In her spare time she loves spending time with her 2 children, which usually involves taking them to their various activities. She also loves going on holiday and exploring new places.

Job Title: Head of Care

Fatima has worked at Sharston House for over 8 years, initially she started as a Support Worker.


Throughout her time at Sharston House she has been eager to learn, develop and progress in her role and successfully gained her NVQ Level 2 & 3 in Care as well as completing her CHAPS training which has helped her progress to the role of Head of Care at the home.


Fatima has gained a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience during her career and is passionate about delivering person-centred care to residents.
When she is not working Fatima loves relaxing, enjoying the outdoors and spending time with her 2 children.

Douglas

Douglas Hemlin

Job Title: Head Chef Joined: 2017

Douglas has been a chef at Sharston House for the past four years.


He completed his chef apprenticeship with the Hilton Group and worked at several of their hotels across the globe. He was also the executive chef at the Sea World resort in Australia. Douglas enjoys chatting with the residents and takes pride in providing them with five-star quality meals.
