Sharston House Nursing Home, which is situated in a peaceful residential area close to Knutsford Town Centre, has recently had an impressive refurbishment. The home combines the warm, friendly feel of a family home with the elegance of an impressive Victorian residence.

The home offers nursing care for older people, in a luxury homely setting. It support residents needing either long term or short term care, including respite care. The home also specialises in providing end of life care and supporting people with Parkinson's Disease.

Set in beautiful grounds it has a large, pleasant patio area, with plenty of outdoor seating areas for residents to sit, relax and enjoy the fresh air, particularly during the summer months.

The home is spacious with a large lounge, quiet conservatory area and a music room as well as a café area where residents can spend time with family and friends.

Mealtimes are an important part of the day and chefs prepare delicious home cooked food to tempt even the most discerning appetite. Residents are encouraged to enjoy their meal in the dining room, taking their time, while socialising and making new friends.

The bedrooms are spacious and Residents are encouraged to personalised their rooms to make them as homely as possible, which helps them settle in quicker.

The well-being of residents is important and the home has a varied entertainment programme which takes into account the likes and dislikes of residents and the different levels of abilities of residents, including a film club, yoga sessions, music afternoons, craft, trips out and visiting professional entertainers.

Well, I was very well looked after. Staff were very kind in a caring way. Food was lovely, tasty and filling. I spent a very restful time. Your washing was done and brought back fresh on hangers, out in your wardrobe the same day. Thank you to everyone.

Mum was transferred to Sharston House after an initial 4-weeks in the hospital, following a bad fall at home. There is obviously never a good time for these things to happen, and with the added complications of lockdown isolation and procedures, we worried for Mum's peace of mind.
We need not have.
From a period of 24-hours before her arrival to date, my sister and I have been kept fully informed of her progress.
Due to the medication, she has been on, there have been good days and bad, but there has always been someone available to speak to and give us full updates. Phone and FaceTime calls are regularly facilitated, and more recently, face to face visits by appointment.
I had thought here to mention of a couple of members of staff by name who are always prepared to go the extra mile, but that would be unfair as there are so many dedicated staff at the home.

Every single member of staff with whom we have had contact in the 18-months that my mother has vee a resident has always been helpful, courteous, kind and supportive. Any changes in her condition are dealt with straight away and advised directly to myself or my father. Despite the incredibly difficult
times, the home has faced over the past six months, every effort has been made to minimise the upset and unrest the lockdown period must have has on residents.

Several weeks ago we lost a dear member of our family, my Father, and our daughters' Granddad. Dad was 92 and in poor health, he had struggled on valiantly for a number of years. The time came when we had to think of him going into care, it was arranged for Dad to go to Sharston House by the nurses
at MacMillan. Many years ago Mum had suffered a stroke and had been admitted to Sharston house nursing home in Knutsford so we knew from our experience then, that the care that Dad would receive would be excellent. We were 100% correct, the care was commendable; the staff were so kind and compassionate. We were kept up to date with all that was happening. When they came to give him medication it was done with care and dignity. Nothing was rushed it was all done in a calm and respectful manner. Several weeks have gone by since Dad's passing, I wanted to make sure that the review I gave was heartfelt and not on the spur of the moment. My views today are the same now as those when Dad passed.

I have enjoyed every moment of my stay. The staff has done everything to make my stay perfect. They felt like family and to be honest I will miss everybody so so much. As soon as my husband was admitted to Sharston House, he was treated with dignity and kindness. The staff assessed his needs and he was allocated a room on the ground floor to ensure his safety. He enjoyed the activities organised for the clients and these seemed to be a very varied range to cater for
the needs of all the clients. When his condition worsened, he was given a room opposite the nurses room. He asked for his door to be constantly open and he was fed appropriately. His end of life care was excellent and I and my family are so grateful he was so well treated.

We have received great care and attention. Staff are friendly, professional and very compassionate. They take great care in each individuals care and comfort them when needed. Very pleased with all the aspects of Mum's care. The staff were helpful at all times and obviously had had conversations as they know a lot of her history, where she lived etc. They were kind enough to wheel her outside for her nightly cigar and a tot of her whisky.

Sharston House is a comfortable, happy and safe environment for our relative. She has been a resident for almost seven years. The Nursing team are well led by the manager and work well together. They are caring and support relatives. The food, decor and wonderful activities team ensure the residents
are kept busy and happy. Residents are treated with dignity and empathy. Relatives are welcomed and encouraged to take part in activities.

The resident in question had an extremely infected toe, necrotic, which needed a lot of attention. New dressings every other day, pain killers and antibiotics. The worry was the possibility of septicaemia.
Thankfully due to the excellent care of the nursing staff, the local GP and the carers, the toe
is completely healed and the threat of a serious infection has diminished.

Mother was settled and happy at Sharston House once she got over the shock of Dad’s sudden death and the need for her to go into care.
She liked her room, which was important since she was bedridden.
She enjoyed the food and the home usually managed to adapt it to her needs e.g. pureeing some
things or leaving off a sauce which she did not like.
She was a fussy eater, a creature of habit and her condition could make her cranky so the home did very well in largely managing to accommodate her needs and quirks.
She did establish a deeper relationship with a few of the staff she particularly liked and her overall care was good.
On what I saw and experienced, I would recommend the home.

I completed my general nursing and midwifery in 1995 in India. Started my nursing career and worked in super speciality hospitals in medical and surgical wards till 2004.


After moving to the UK, I worked as a staff nurse at Macclesfield General Hospital for 6 years and in different healthcare settings as a nurse.


I joined Kingsley Healthcare in 2019 and held roles as Clinical Lead, Deputy Manager and now Home Manager as of 2022.


I am compassionate, dedicated, caring, and supportive to the residents, family and staff and a good team player.

Kate Yeung

Job Title: Administrator

Kate has worked as an Administrator for over 10 years and has a wealth of experience in the role.


Kate has previously worked in Administrator roles in Hong Kong and, although she has never worked in the care sector before she is loving the challenge of such a busy positive.

Louise Thompson

Job Title: Head of Care

Louise has worked at Sharston House for over 15 years, since she left school.
Initially Louise worked on a part time basis at the home as a Catering Assistant, while she was still at school, as she wanted to go to college and work in the Travel Industry however, she loved working at the home so much that when she left school she decide working in care was her calling and she took on the role as a Carer worker at the home.


During her time at Sharston House Louise has been keen to learn, develop and progress in her role. She has undertaken a number of courses including, her NVQ Level 3 in Care, CHAPS and has also completed a Diploma in Health and Social Care.


Passionate about delivering quality care, she has gained a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience during her career and was delighted to become Head of Care at the home.


In her spare time she loves spending time with her 2 children, which usually involves taking them to their various activities. She also loves going on holiday and exploring new places.

Fatima

Fatima Mir

Job Title: Head of Care

Fatima has worked at Sharston House for over 8 years, initially she started as a Support Worker.


Throughout her time at Sharston House she has been eager to learn, develop and progress in her role and successfully gained her NVQ Level 2 & 3 in Care as well as completing her CHAPS training which has helped her progress to the role of Head of Care at the home.


Fatima has gained a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience during her career and is passionate about delivering person-centred care to residents.
When she is not working Fatima loves relaxing, enjoying the outdoors and spending time with her 2 children.

Douglas

Douglas Hemlin

Job Title: Head Chef

Joined: 2017

Douglas has been a chef at Sharston House for the past four years.


He completed his chef apprenticeship with the Hilton Group and worked at several of their hotels across the globe. He was also the executive chef at the Sea World resort in Australia. Douglas enjoys chatting with the residents and takes pride in providing them with five-star quality meals.
