My husband has been in the dementia unit for over 2 years. His complaint has got worse in that time but I feel he would be helped if staff could sit in the lounge sometimes and talk to the residents. I am aware that they are busy but talking to the residents is important.
He has had an awful lot of
his clothes lost, including slippers, T-Shirts, socks, jumper and worst of all his teeth have gone missing. I regard this as careless and have talked to the manager about it on more than one occasion. She is very understanding and has put measures in place to try to stop this happening.
The home has improved since new management took over, in cleanliness and decorations. Also the atmosphere is friendly and approachable.

Mum moved into Preston Glades Care Home September 2024 and I was pleasantly surprised how well and quickly she settled in after moving out of another home as suffers from Alzheimer's Dementia. The staff on the ward have welcomed both mum and family. Mum seems happier in her own way. Fully recommend
Preston Glades as a Care/Nursing home for any family member.

Very warm and clean, all the staff are lovely. It was very nicely decorated at Christmas with a lovely tree. The meals smell nice too, my brother goes once a month for respite and I don't know how we would manage without them.

My Mum moved into Preston Glades residential dementia unit at the end of October 2024. The care and dedication provided are outstanding. Mum has improved both physically and mentally. She has settled in so well thanks to the caring staff. There is a true and warm family atmosphere at Preston Glades
that has benefited Mum and our family in so many ways. Thank you all so very much.

Preston Glades Nursing Home sets the standard for excellent care and should be used as an example to other care/nursing homes (some of which sadly leave a lot to be desired). From the manager, the lovely, well organised and kind manager, downwards, all the staff in every capacity that we came across
were genuinely committed to providing the best care they could for Mum. From day one we found peace of mind with Mum's care at Preston Glades. The sadness of a loved one with Alzheimer's is always there but with such caring and dedicated staff her care needs are looked after. Mum was as content as she could be (given her condition) and we were always made to feel welcome on our visits several times per week, week in and week out. Mum's regular carers and nursing staff receive our deepest gratitude. However, we found every member of staff accessible and helpful. Thank you so much.

I am impressed with how kind and thoughtful every staff member was to us and to the residents. I understand how stressful the staff's job is, and they still maintain a cheerful outlook.
They made us feel very welcome.

The attention to detail from the staff has been incredible. This is a new experience for the family and it is so so uncomfortable for us at this point. The Glades staff are happy to assist us with a care plan and Mum seems to be happy amongst the other residents. Her room is so nice and with a few personal
bits and pieces, really has made it homely.

My mother came into this care home in December after a bad fall at home and from the day she came, she has been very happy and very well looked after by all the staff here at The Glades.
I would highly recommend this care home to anyone. My mother has been treated with respect and dignity at all times.

Wonderful nursing home, we are so pleased to have finally found somewhere for my mum where we are happy that she is receiving the care she (and everyone) deserves. The staff go out of their way to support my mum and communicate with us as relatives. Good continuity of staff means familiar faces, which
helps. Excellent set up where several self-contained smaller areas - each with its own lounge & dining area - results in a friendlier, cosier feel to the environment. The bedrooms we've seen resemble what you might have at home i.e. spacious, well decorated, with nice furniture and homely rather than purely functional. Most valuable are the managers, nursing staff, care assistants and other staff who are all so friendly and helpful. Thank you very much to everyone at Preston Glades, your hard work and dedication are very much appreciated.

In the time my mum was with Preston Glades, I could not have wished for better care. Despite the difficult time, the staff were all lovely and professional caring for her. She told me she was happy with them and really appreciated them. Being far away, it was a great reassurance to know that she was
well looked after, with empathy and genuine care. Would recommend Preston Glades to anyone.

The moment my dad stepped through the door he felt at home. The Glades have made him feel very welcome and everyone is so kind and friendly. He loves his room and the food. He has also made some friends. I feel very happy that my dad is being well looked after, and reassured by the level of attentiveness
of the staff to his needs.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.416)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.416) out of 10 for Preston Glades Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.824 for Preston Glades Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (84 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 102 Ratings = 4.824
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.592 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Preston Glades Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 registered maximum number of service users is 13. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 13 = 0.692
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
