My husband of 57 years lives with advanced Alzheimer's Disease. He recently moved to Springhill after a fall and a spell in the hospital. I have been impressed with the way he has been cared for. All the staff are caring and compassionate to my husband and meet all his needs, taking his dignity into
consideration at all times. On my daily visits, the staff are always friendly and welcoming. I feel that their care extends to me as well. Communication from the home is excellent, and I always feel I know how my husband is faring.
Reply from Deborah Bennett, Manager at Springhill Care HomeThank you, Patricia, for your thoughtful review. It is a pleasure to help out and care for him.

My auntie is currently in Springhill Care Home. I visit her regularly, and I would like to express how highly thought of Springhill is with my family. I feel my auntie is safe and well cared for. She has the most caring team of staff - all staff members pop into her room during the day for a chat and
keep her happy. She still has the capacity and is asked regarding her care and is able to make her own decisions. If, as a family, we have any concerns, we can talk to the nursing team, and they are very responsive. I really could not recommend the home enough to give you peace of mind whilst your loved one is being cared for.
Reply from Deborah Bennett, Manager at Springhill Care HomeThank you for your lovely review. I’m glad to hear we are communicating well with the family regarding your auntie.

Exceptional in every way!
The experience for both my parents and us as a family, from enquiry and assessment through to residence, was done with great care and understanding. The support provided has helped my parents transition from their own home to residing and planning for their future needs and
wishes. All of this has been carried out in a compassionate and caring way. The facilities, staff, food and management are amazing!

Extremely satisfied. All staff, except one, were perfect. Mum had a rough passing, as she was unable to drink. Milnshaw was clean, friendly and accommodating. The care assistants, even down to the cleaners, dinner ladies and tea trollies, were very kind and offered help all the time. One last (who we
called snake lady) was fantastic at all times, over and above what was necessary, including hours.

My father has many complex health needs. He has suffered neglect and poor treatment with both NHS providers and at a previous nursing home.
Following another admission, my father was patched up and ready to be discharged into a nursing care facility. A home that could meet Dad's complex nursing
needs.
In January this year, Springhill Nursing Home came into our lives. From the minute the general manager took the time to visit my father in the hospital to assess his needs, we knew things would improve for my father. Springhill put in place a thorough and detailed nursing care plan for Dad. We can now enjoy our visits with Dad knowing that he is receiving the best care possible.
The home is stunning, clean and purpose-built. The staff are well presented and highly professional; they always treat Dad with kindness and respect.
I think that the biggest endorsement I can give is that Springhill is the gold standard for a nursing home.

The staff on Woodlands are like a second family; not only do they support my mum's needs from washing, feeding and changing etc, but they also care about the families involved with the patients, providing lots of advice, support emotionally and friendly. They really do work hard.

I would like to compliment all staff at the home for the care they provide to my mum. I would like to give special mention to those who represented the home at a recent meeting regarding my mum. Their knowledge of Mum and her needs came through, so all the assessor’s questions were answered. What was
reassuring was the ability of staff to speak about Mum from a position of knowledge, but also their caring nature and empathy shone through.
Reply from Deborah Bennett, Manager at Springhill Care HomeThank you very much for taking the time to leave a lovely review. We do try to always pick the closest staff to the service user for meetings. Effort definitely goes into being prepared. I will let the staff members know about your lovely comments.

My sister has lived at the home for eight months now. She has settled in really well due to the staffs caring nature. Everywhere is always clean, the carpets were being as I visited. My sister has started to improve slightly, putting on weight. This much be because of the overall standard of nursing.
Thank you.

The care my mother received at Springhill was exceptional. She moved to Springhill after a very bad experience at another care home, and the difference was incredible. She settled in immediately, and the staff throughout her time at Springhill were fantastic and very professional. At all times, the
staff at Springhill showed understanding and compassion, and it was a pleasure visiting her there. I would not hesitate to recommend Springhill as an excellent care home.

My wife has been in Springhill since February 2018. She has Alzheimer's and suffers from occasional fits. Since she was admitted, her condition has deteriorated to the stage where she is incapable of doing anything for herself. Throughout her stay, the staff have treated her with love and respect. I
cannot speak too highly of the care she receives. It is absolutely first class. I would recommend this home to anyone.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My cousin moved into Spring Hill in June last year after a lengthy hospital stay for the repair of a broken leg, which went badly wrong. Since entering Spring Hill, her condition has dramatically improved as the quality of her care has been so exceptional. The standard of nursing is first-class, as
is the environment within which she is living. Everyone from reception and management to nursing, therapists and catering staff is cheerful, but cannot do enough to make her comfortable and to encourage her to make her way towards a better quality of life. We have been especially helped by the manager in dealing with the many issues we have encountered in ensuring that my cousin's care is properly provided and adequately funded. An exercise which we have found to be extremely complex and daunting as we have no experience in this field. What a lovely place to visit and know that my cousin is being given the best of care.

My husband was admitted to Springhill Care Home in April. He has Alzheimer's and had previously been violent at home and in a previous care home but from the first week, he had settled in well and has not been violent or asked to go home. All due to the care and compassion from the carers.
The home
is clean, never smells and is very open and bright. Some places could do with a lick of paint but on the whole fine. My husband is treated with dignity and respect and as far as I can see that is the same for other residents too.
The home seems well run if at times short on staff but not detrimental to the care given. The staff on reception are very friendly and helpful.
The entertainment team are brilliant but have noticed not supported enough for whatever reason by residents' relatives.
I feel so blessed that I have found a place where my husband is safe and cared for in the best possible manner. I also feel that I am supported by the staff as well.

The staff at Springhill were amazing! Our mum was sent to Springhill from the local hospital for rehabilitation. The manager was extremely helpful from the start. She explained all the procedures and sorted out the correct care Mum would need. Unfortunately, Mum took a turn for the worse, but the nursing
staff took great care of her and kept her pain-free and comfortable. She died peacefully, and the staff were caring right up to the end.

From the moment I entered Springhill, the reception staff greeted me with a cheery, welcoming smile. Their help proved invaluable, and no query remained unanswered.
The accommodation is bright and spacious, with numerous places for residents to sit, share experiences, listen to music, watch TV or
just chill. Residents make full use of the meals/snacks and copious cuppas too!
My aunt was a resident of Springhill Care Home for just under 12 months. She had advanced dementia and wasn't the easiest resident to care for, but the staff always treated her with patience, dignity and respect. Each time I visited, (even when times were difficult), the staff remained 100% committed to ensuring all residents (including my aunt) felt loved and valued. They created a warm, comforting environment, and their professionalism was outstanding!
My aunt sadly passed away just over a week ago, but her final days were made very special thanks to Springhill's unswerving care and wonderfully warm hearts.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.882)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.882) out of 10 for Springhill Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.882 for Springhill Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (282 Excellents x 5) + (26 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 313 Ratings = 4.882
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Springhill Care Home is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 116 registered maximum number of service users is 23.2, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
