I feel very stressed sometimes. What I call multitasking, the care workers really work very hard. All day the buzzer is going and they are in demand. We have a man shouting all the time. The unit is very efficiently run and very clean. I am hoping to settle down soon.

On visiting the home the staff are very welcoming, friendly and caring to their clients.
Mostly you see the same staff, giving you the feeling of continuity of care.
There seems to be ample food with a wide variety of choices, beautifully cooked and well presented to the client.

The clients who cannot feed themselves always get help and are never left.

I went to see Mum at tea time. Mum was sat there happy eating away. Staff were busy as always tending to their needs always a smile and time to chat. My mother is well looked after and clean. If anything is wrong I get a phone call to keep me informed, nice and secure with lovely gardens and lots of activities.

Having seen many care homes, this is highly recommended. Not only does Brook Court provide a safe and secure environment, it is fun and sociable, with always something going on.

Fantastic staff who provide individual care based on needs. Lots of activity and noise! Rooms are fit for purpose. It would be nice to have a quiet area to be able to sit in.

Katrine SimmJob Title:Nursing Home ManagerJoined: 2022

Hello, my name is Kat, and I am delighted to introduce myself as one of the Registered Home Managers at Florence Mill Care Home.

As a qualified nurse with many years of experience caring for others, it has always been at the heart of what I do. I feel incredibly proud to work in a home where kindness, dignity, and compassion are so highly valued. I have worked in the care sector for 8 years, supporting older people with a range of care needs, and throughout my career, I have always believed that every resident deserves to feel safe, respected, and truly at home.

For me, a care home is much more than a place to live — it should be a place where people feel comfortable, valued, and able to enjoy life in the way that matters most to them. I believe in taking the time to get to know each resident as an individual: learning about their interests, routines, preferences, and life stories so we can provide care that is personal and meaningful.

As Home Manager, my priority is to create a warm, welcoming environment where residents feel happy and supported, families feel reassured, and staff feel proud to provide the highest standard of care. I am passionate about building a strong sense of community and ensuring every person living here feels listened to and included.

Whether you are considering care for yourself or someone close to you, I understand that choosing a care home is an important decision. My team and I are here to answer any questions, offer support, and help make the process as comfortable as possible.

I look forward to welcoming you to Florence Mill and showing you everything our wonderful home has to offer.

Glady Gervacio-ArdivillaJob Title:Nursing Home Manager

I am a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse with over 15 years of diverse clinical experience in both the Philippines and the UK. My nursing career began in 2009 as a Nurse in the Philippines, where I developed strong foundations in outpatient care, health education, and preventive medicine. I also served as a Nurse in a corporate occupational health setting before relocating to the UK in 2019.

Since moving to the UK, I have steadily progressed in the adult social care sector – working as a Registered Nurse, Unit Manager, Clinical Lead, and most recently stepping into the role of Home Manager at Florence Mill Care Home in March 2025. In these roles, I have gained extensive experience in care planning, team leadership, and quality improvement. My leadership journey reflects a strong commitment to person-centred care, staff development, and operational excellence. I am passionate about providing high-quality, person-centred care and creating a supportive environment for both residents and staff.
