I feel that the care home is lacking in staff. Also, breaks should be split so there are at least two carers in the lounge at one time.
Also, this is a very vulnerable unit and should have more carers on Waterside House.
No security at all - my grandson had his motorcycle taken in broad daylight.
Security must be a priority for all!

Thank you for your review; we value all feedback as this allows us to improve our service where required. We were sorry to hear of the theft of a family member’s motorcycle, however, unfortunately, as with most car parks, vehicles are left at the owner's risk. Our home is staffed according to Residents needs and staffing levels are regularly reviewed. Waterside is staffed with 2 nurses, 4 carers and a hostess and staff breaks are split, with 2 out of 7 staff taking breaks at one time. Please don’t hesitate to liaise with management at the home, we are always happy to assist with any issues you may have.

My mum went into the Waterside Unit in Birch Court in August 2015 when she was in a bad way, since then she has come on fantastically. She now eats on her own and has calmed down a lot. She interacts with the staff and other residents alike. She has put on nearly 2 stone in weight which was needed,
she was skin and bones because she refusing to eat. The staff are wonderful, patient and kind, so I would strongly recommend the Waterside Unit. Thank you so much from myself and the rest if my mum's family.

I would like to pass on my sincere thanks to the carers, nurses and managers of the residents in Fern House, who recently looked after our Dad during a two month stay. There was always a friendly atmosphere and myself and my family were made to feel very welcome when visiting. Thank you for looking
after him so well. If the need ever arose again, I would be confident of his care in your hands.

My mum resides at Birch Court Care Home Brook House. I found her care to be very good all the staff treat all the residents with exceptional care and attention. The care home has now purchased comfortable new chairs for the residents in the lounge and dining area. The lounge and hallways are much improved following the recent refurbishment, nice and clean. The staff work really hard and the improved environment is better for all!

I am a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse with over 15 years of diverse clinical experience in both the Philippines and the UK. My nursing career began in 2009 as a Nurse in the Philippines, where I developed strong foundations in outpatient care, health education, and preventive medicine. I also served as a Nurse in a corporate occupational health setting before relocating to the UK in 2019.


Since moving to the UK, I have steadily progressed in the adult social care sector – working as a Registered Nurse, Unit Manager, Clinical Lead, and most recently stepping into the role of Home Manager at Florence Mill Care Home in March 2025. In these roles, I have gained extensive experience in care planning, team leadership, and quality improvement. My leadership journey reflects a strong commitment to person-centred care, staff development, and operational excellence. I am passionate about providing high-quality, person-centred care and creating a supportive environment for both residents and staff.
