Overall Experience

The staff at Darnall Grange Care Home are amazing. They have so much patience and understanding of the residents in their care. Nothing is ever too much trouble, and the nurses, carers and other staff are always there, willing to help and assist residents. We visit a resident on a regular basis and are always grateful for the care and empathy the staff constantly provide even when faced with the difficult personality of dementia. Thank you.

Mum has been in Darnall Grange for several years and is happy and content there. The Manager is always there to help with any concerns and is hands-on with the residents. A credit to Hermes. Only a certain type of person can do a carer's job and at Darnall Grange, they are excellent and should be acknowledged for what they do. Always friendly and attentive to mum's needs. The food is great (best roast potatoes!), and the kitchen staff and housekeeping are great. Mum's room is always clean. The Activities Coordinator is the perfect person for activities, just what the residents need! Certain staff most definitely need recognition for what they do, I know I can't name them but I am sure they know who I mean! Thank you for looking after mum.

Visit Mum every week, mainly on Thursday, with my partner each week and Mum's youngest sister. We know Mum is comfortable and safe. Very friendly staff. Good activities, lovely garden to sit in in the warmer weather/day (summer). Mum is safer than she would have been at home. Good meals served. Clean and friendly. Love our visits, always smells fresh on arriving. Room lovely and modern. Thank you so much.

I know my dad is in safe hands at Darnall Grange. The carers are always friendly and caring with lots of patience. His room, bedding and clothes are always clean. He is given a variety of delicious food. We often join him for lunch in the care home. There are optional activities for him to join in if he feels like it. His health is closely monitored by all the staff. They contact me if there is a problem. I am always happy with the level of care he receives.

I have been satisfied with my husband's stay. The young carers have been very kind to him. He has eaten well with his special need to help him eat, they have fed him too when I was not there. I would like to say thank you for his medical care too. The NHS team have been very thoroughly doing a very demanding job. The food was very good, my husband loved the beef.

It's a very friendly home it's like a home from home. It's very clean, the cleaning staff are always busy and very helpful if you need anything. There is something happening most days if the residents want to get involved. The food is delicious, I have a few meals myself so I know how tasty they are.

Overall Experience
Darnall Grange is a wonderful Care home. Our mum lived there for the last two years of her life. The whole team are incredibly caring and compassionate towards the residents. They are led by a lovely manager who genuinely cares about the residents and the impact on their families and loved ones.
Mum was so well cared for and treated with dignity. We always felt as though they really knew her which was a great comfort to us. The home was always spotless as was Mum's room. The food was delicious with daily choices cooked by a lovely catering team. The manager would help out with serving at busy times. We were always warmly welcomed as a family and communication was always excellent. It is a shame that names cannot be mentioned here as we have so much gratitude for so many lovely team members. We felt as though Mum became part of their family.
We would highly recommend Darnall Grange for anyone living with dementia.

Thank you to everyone involved.

Overall Experience

Definitely not a good experience, it was disgusting. Windows didn’t close properly and when my sister went to see Dad, every day, he was really sick on this particular day. No one had bothered to do anything and when my sister said something they then called an ambulance. Dad had pneumonia and passed away a week later. I wouldn’t put my worst enemy in this home. It has taken me a long time to write this as I was really angry. Dad had his mind and staff came in, didn’t ask and just helped themselves to his sweets that we had taken. Don’t get me wrong, we didn’t mind but they shouldn’t just help themselves.

We are always devasted when a relative or loved one has a negative experience. This is never our intention and we feel that we have to respond without providing sensitive medical information but general facts for any reviewer to receive a balanced view.

My mother needed care after a fall and the use of an intermediate care bed. Every time I visited the warmth and care of the care staff was evident in all observed interaction with residents. Mum said she couldn't fault them for all the time she was there. The garden area is a calm and welcoming space, thought and care have gone into its creation for those with dementia especially. Mum's return home has been made possible due to your care. A huge thank you.
