Overall Experience

I visited Darnall Grange Care Home unannounced over a Bank Holiday weekend (due to hospital timings) before mum was discharged there from hospital to make sure it was the right place for her. I was only expecting to see a quick glimpse of the building and maybe foyer. However, a member of the care staff welcomed me in and showed me around. As if that wasn't enough, the senior nurse on duty, despite being busy, talked about my mum and her needs for nearly half an hour. When mum was discharged into Darnall Grange, every single member of staff and management on duty made an exceptional effort to introduce themselves and make mum and me feel incredibly welcomed, understood and supported. The building and rooms are clean and well positioned. The food is very good, varied, appetising and nutritious. The staff do an incredible job, they work long and hard, which makes how they have treated mum and me all the more valued - please do bear this in mind if things can't always meet your expectations.

My husband came to Darnall Grange for respite care. He has advanced Parkinson’s disease and a diagnosis of Lewy Body dementia. He also has complex medical conditions which means he requires 24-hour care.
I cannot praise the staff and the level of care they provide sufficiently. The manager is efficient and approachable he and his staff seemed to care for my husband and his needs with genuine compassion and understanding.

I personally saw genuine respect and concern for residents provided each time I visited my husband. My husband has said he would be happy to return to Darnall Grange in the future. I would be happy to recommend this wonderful nursing care home. Many thanks.

The staff who have cared for my father have been professional and friendly. All the staff have been welcoming and there is an atmosphere of positivity at all times. The home is spotlessly clean and well-appointed. The food is well cooked and served. It has been a pleasure to visit my father and to feel confident that he was being cared for in my absence.

My mum was given care with friendliness and compassion. She was treated as an individual with her own needs but was also given the confidence to attend to her own needs. She enjoyed the company not only from the residents but also of the care staff. Thank you everyone who looked after my mum, what a lovely family of people you are.

Darnall Grange Care Home is such a wonderful home. My father was only here a short time before he passed away due to ongoing illness. All the staff are kind, helpful and made a very difficult time easier to deal with. The manager is a credit to the owner, along with all his staff. Our family was blown away by all the support and kindness. So clean and tidy. Such a beautiful home.

I'm very happy with my mother's care at Darnall Grange Care Home. The staff are all friendly, caring and professional. They have lots of activities to keep the residents occupied and a lovely garden for them to sit in. The home is well-run and welcoming with good security to keep residents safe. Rooms are all individual with ensuite facilities.

I cannot praise the staff enough at Darnall Grange Care Home. Initially, my dad came to the home for some respite care to give my mum a rest. However, it was apparent that dad needed 24-hour specialist care due to his Parkinsons' and Dementia illness. I spent a lot of time at the home and saw how the staff cared for the patients/residents. There is a calmness around the home with every member of staff treating the residents with dignity, care and respect.

I have not had any dealing with care homes before but I have been really pleased with the care and help my mother has had at Darnall Grange Care Home. They are helping to get Mum back to her own home and they do it at her pace and not rushing her. The odd meals we've seen Mum having are well balanced and nourishing, so she has gone from not eating to enjoying her food.

Mum was in for respite for a week. When I brought my mum she didn't want to stay but the staff persuaded her to go in for a drink, she went. As soon as she went in she was happy to stay. I phoned every day and Mum sounded happy and full of life, every day she said she loved it and the food was brilliant, she came out with her hair done in plaits. Mum will definitely be coming back. Thank you.

Staff are so committed to caring for residents with such kindness, understanding and empathy. They continued to keep residents safe from Covid using appropriate PPE and following the rules to keep them safe.

Communication with relatives is such an important part, caring for residents with dementia and Darnall Grange has been amazing throughout my father's stay.

A few months ago my uncle had to go into care, we looked at several and decided on Darnall Grange. The manager and all the staff were great, really clean attentive to his every need and so welcoming. They really couldn't do enough to make sure we and him were cared for and catered for. Thank you so much to all at the care home and would recommend it to anyone. Regards.
