Moorend Place Nursing Home, in the Walkley area of Sheffield, is a fifty-three en-suite bedroom facility that specialises in dementia care in both Nursing and Residential.

Those who have experienced a high standard of care at Moorend Place have had the opportunity to pursue an independent lifestyle, the benefit of one-to-one sessions and a varied programme of activities. They now have two activity staff working full time to provide a busy programme of events.

The service involves loved ones of residents as much as possible, they invite you to visit whenever you like and discuss your loved one's care with staff whenever you wish.

Excellent place - lovely little cafe and courtyard which holds regular activities, coffee mornings and family visits. Moorend Place is really a home-from-home. The level of care, thoughtfulness and compassion
towards Dad and ourselves was outstanding and exemplary on every level and we could not have
wished for better.
We knew he was comfortable, settled, in safe hands, and got the best possible care being treated with dignity and respect.
Staff at every level were professional, friendly and thoughtful towards both us and Dad. We felt that you really got to know Dad, his likes, dislikes, needs, and character and were therefore able to deliver truly holistic and person-centred care. It was clear that this was not just a job for the staff, they were interested in Dad's life and interests, regularly engaging him in meaningful conversation. All staff have an absolute passion and vocation for the care that they deliver.
We cannot recommend Moorend Place highly enough.

My mum sadly passed away on 6 August 2023 at Moorend Place where she'd spent the last 15 months of her life. Throughout her stay, she was treated with love, kindness, humour, and respect, and I know that the staff ensured she lived the best possible life she could. The staff were always caring and incredibly
supportive to family on visits no matter how busy and they were a huge, invaluable support to us during Mum's final days.
Yes - the decor is a little tired, but the level of care and attention given to every resident and their families is outstanding. And that's what matters.
A massive thank you to everyone at Moorend Place.

My wife became a resident at Moorend in July 2021. She suffers from Alzheimer's disease and is blind owing to damage at the visual centre of her brain. She is comfortable and contented in the security of her own room, but is frightened in other places and by noises that she cannot recognise. Hence,
she has no wish for activities or entertainment, and she sleeps most of the time. I visit her almost every day and I have been extremely pleased to see how quickly she accepted her new way of life. She has never complained to me.
I give great praise to the staff at Moorend for their success in settling my wife into her altered conditions. My daughters made a wise choice when they decided that Moorend was the right place for their mother.

My wife has been at Moorend Place since March of this year. I cannot fault the care that she is receiving. I am severely visually impaired and the treatment I receive from every member of staff is brilliant and I consider them to be my extended family. I look forward to seeing them when I visit as they

The staff at Moorend are kind and hard-working. My feeling is that they do the best they can with what they have. There is a huge challenge on the second floor to keep the residents dressed appropriately in their own clean clothes, and keeping them united with their own spectacles which they don’t always
achieve. My feeling is this is not a lack of willingness but merely reflects the enormity of this task and the ratio of staff to residents.

My mum moved into Moorend Place in March. She receives amazing care from every member of staff. She is treated with dignity and respect, her medical needs are met exceptionally well. She is always clean and tidy which would mean a lot to her if she was more aware. My father visits more often than I
am able to do and the staff are so welcoming to him as he has low vision. They take their time to escort him to visit my mum and will call him a taxi and wait with him to make sure he is safe. I cannot speak highly enough of Moorend Place I feel blessed that my mum is receiving care there. I also know she is safe and well which alleviates a lot of stress from me.

My wife has been a resident at Moorend Place for 8 months now.
She gets on well with the staff who have found that she likes singing and having a joke! Personally, I find the staff to be always friendly and will phone me if there are particular concerns.

My dear mum was at Moorends from 28th September, which sadly was her final weeks. I am so glad this home was suggested to me by the placement team. I had trouble finding somewhere that could meet Mum's needs and other issues, but Moorends were amazing. The staff were caring, considerate, approachable
and always working hard. The place was a buzz with activities. It's just so sad that Mum's dementia had progressed to the point she was bedridden. This was one of the hardest things for me, especially when I think back to March when Mum was attending dementia cafes with myself and dad. Mum's strength of character and outgoing, sociable nature were taken from her due to her condition and other factors beyond the remit of Moorends. Mum was comfortable and had some better days while at Moorends, having had a long/drawn-out stay in various wards of the hospital since her admission there on 23rd April. The staff at Moorends were fantastic, and I couldn't have wished for any more. Thank you.

My mum who is 95 and has advanced dementia has been at Moorend for the past three years. She has good days and bad and after a particularly good spell this week, her dementia aside she has been unwell and appeared particularly frail. The staff team, who are always so good with her, have given her extra
support and care this week whilst keeping me updated and giving me support and reassurance. Thank you so much.

From walking through the door to leaving, all the staff are happy and welcoming.

My husband has been in bed for four months. Hospital and an assessing care home. I was amazed and delighted to find him on his first full day there, to be in the dining room in a wheelchair, feeding himself and enjoying a Chuck Berry tape, conducting away with his arms and tapping his feet. I really
thought we had found his haven. Far too short a time. He passed away eight days later. I know he could never be cured of dementia, but a longer stay would have improved his quality of life.

Lovely setting with great outside space and the canteen, which can be used for visits, is great.
Staff are friendly and my Dad does appear to enjoy the environment, even though it's a massive change for him from living independently in his own home only 8 months ago.


The decor could be updated especially

around the floor and skirting boards, in parts it looks unclean and a little dirty.


Wi-fi is much needed.

Putting your partner into a care home is a really difficult decision but I have not regretted it. The staff are so supportive of both the residents and their families. My husband is happy and safe and treated with care. He loves his carers and has a good relationship with them as do I.

The team at Moorend Place Nursing Home are truly wonderful. They treat everyone with care, compassion and respect. Staff treat residents like members of their own family which goes a long way to help reassure you that your family member is being well cared for at all times. The staff have a lovely rapport
with residents and enjoy humorous interactions which gives the home a very happy feel. Whenever I visit I am made to feel incredibly welcome and that nothing is too much trouble. If you ever have a query staff take the time to listen and offer support: despite the fact that they are incredibly busy. Most importantly my Dad is happy and content and shows affection for the staff which tells us everything we need to know now he is no longer able to fully communicate his thoughts.

Although sadly Mum only lived at Moorend Place Nursing Home for a few weeks, we could not have asked for anything more for her. The staff were so caring and understanding at what was a very difficult time for Mum and all the family. Nothing was too much trouble for them; they kept the family informed
at all times and there was always someone who had the time to answer any of our questions. We felt confident that Mum was being looked after in the best possible way. She was always treated with the utmost care and dignity and as an individual with her requests being respected.
Thank you to all the staff for the very genuine care you gave to Mum and the support you gave to us as a family. We wish we had found you sooner.

I can't praise all the staff at Moorend Place Nursing Home enough for their amazing, and genuine, care, kindness and professionalism in the looking after of our dear mum. There would always be someone on hand to answer a question or be there for support or to tend to a need. I couldn't always be there,
but even then I knew Mum was in the best of care at all times, and felt more than reassured by phone how mum was feeling and her state of health. It was a huge relief to feel confident in leaving Mum at Moorend because we knew she had the best of everything.
Everyone's kindness was extended to not only Mum but to ourselves when we went to visit and they were more than accommodating to make sure we felt happy and confident with the care mum was receiving.
Although Mum's stay was a relatively short one, we knew that everything possible was done for her to keep her comfortable and that she was cared for in a way that we would have wanted.
So, thank you, once more, you are all doing an incredible job.

I cannot praise Moorend Place Nursing Home and its wonderful, dedicated staff highly enough for the care they are currently giving Mum. I have spent a lot of time here recently and I am always made to feel so welcome, that nothing is too much trouble. Mum, now in end-of-life care is treated with respect
and dignity. When help is required it is given expediently, with Mum checked at least hourly, and the doctor visits bi-weekly.
The staff's rapport with residents is lovely, with sparkle and humour. I first visited at Christmas but I have since learnt the happiness and frivolity shown with residents is all year round, each aspect of dementia for each resident is approached individually. Many care homes say they cater for dementia but actually do not understand and cannot cope with any aspects which are remotely challenging. Moorend Place is different, they understand, they reassure. When you shut the door you know the person who you desperately wish you could care for yourself is safe and loved.

Since my mum has become a resident in September 2022, she has improved considerably. The dedicated care team at Moorend have brought Mum back from poor heat twice since she has been a resident. At all times, my mum is treated with love and respect, and I know that she is 100% safe as Moorend staff prioritises
safety, along with overall health and well-being. I am extremely happy with Mum's care, and I think all Moorend staff should have a non-taxable bonus!

Emma has undertaken several care roles within Moorend Place before been appointed Home Manager in October 2017 and is registered with the CQC. Emma is passionate about providing high-quality care and feels that residents should be at the heart of all that is done within the home. Emma and her team work closely with residents and their families to ensure that the care received is truly person-centred. Emma and the team have built strong relationships with the community allowing residents to access the community easily.

Tracy has over 25years experience and has worked her whole career in care at Moorend Place. Tracy is committed to ensuring that her residents have the best care possible. For the last 7 years Tracy has been the unit manager of the residential unit. This role has allowed her to oversea care plans, medication and develop relationships with professionals and families. Tracy was nominated for care home award in 2023 by her colleagues. Tracy is a crucial part of Moorend and the team.
