My husband went to Moorend with FLD which is a very aggressive illness. From the start, he was treated very well up to the time of his death. The staff are really caring, I can't thank them enough. I give them credit for what they do.

Dad was transferred from a stroke rehabilitation centre to Moorend Place for further assessment.
The staff are all fantastic, I cannot praise them enough, they made him feel very welcome and he settled in very quickly.
After a few weeks, it was evident that he would need to stay in care and I was
relieved to be told that he would be able to stay here permanently. The home has been able to meet all of his care needs and there was never any question of moving him anywhere else because he was so settled.
I can now sleep at night knowing that he is safe, secure and cared for 24/7, its the care home staff that makes this place so special - thank you.

From the moment Mum arrived in quite a distressed state, the staff calmly and efficiently put Mum at her ease. Since then no question about her care etc is too small to be answered. Mum is thriving due to the excellent care she is receiving.

I am so thankful for the care and kindness my mother has received this past 15months. She is a very private person and generally prefers to stay in her own - lovely - room. I appreciate that the staff respect her wishes whilst encouraging her to have her lunch in the dining room with the other residents,
especially during the restrictions on visiting because of Covid.
I am especially grateful to the member of staff who helped me to keep in touch with my mother via WhatsApp when I was stuck in France last summer.
My only criticism relates to the laundry service: many items have gone missing and I have seen my mother wearing other people's clothes several times.

My husband was taken into care from the hospital during the COVID epidemic so this review is only part filled in because I have been unable to see everything but the nursing home and its workers are doing an extremely hard job extremely well. Everyone has been so helpful, nothing is too much trouble
and my husband is happy and well cared for.

The staff work incredibly hard to keep the residents safe, well, protected and comfortable. I cannot praise them enough and I am full of admiration and appreciation of their unfailing dedication, particularly in these difficult and challenging times. I do not think my mum would be here now if it wasn't
for the care given by the staff at Moorend Place.

It's very traumatic when you have no alternative but to place a loved one in care, but our fears were soon alleviated. Mom soon settled into Moorend Place. The management and staff did all they could to help and put our minds at rest. Mom is cared for medically, physically and mentally. All staff and
nurses are always friendly and helpful both face to face and over the telephone. Thank you.

My wife, aged 80, and suffering with fairly advanced Alzheimers was admitted to Moorend, initially on a respite care basis, in August 2020. On returning home and after a short period in hospital it became increasingly clear that even with increasing home care that long term residential care was needed.
After considering carefully alternative care homes my daughters and I were in no doubt that after the care she received during her respite care at Moorend, that Moorend was the obvious long term placement for my wife. Our decision has never been in doubt and despite the enormous difficulties created by Covid 19 we are confident that she is receiving first-class and very personal care from both care staff - who have been excellent - and management. Communication with both has been extremely helpful. We are in no doubt that the CQC 'Care' rating of 'Outstanding' is fully justified.

Mum had sadly reached a point where her needs due Alzheimer's had progressed rapidly and we could no longer keep her at home. After a lot of searching, we found Moorend Place. "A little gem" The care and love Mum is receiving is second to none and we are so grateful we were recommended this care home.
The staff keep us regularly informed and we can now sleep at night knowing that she is safe and well cared for.

In probably the most challenging times looking after the wellbeing and safety of the elderly who are clearly the most vulnerable throughout the 'crisis', Moorend have kept the lady in question (and other residents) safe and secure throughout. Although I haven't been able to visit in person due to their
sensible isolation policy, I have been kept informed via phone calls and photographs, etc. so have been confident that wellbeing has continued to be the priority. Hats off to Moorend!

My dad became a permanent resident of Moorend Place in February 2020 and we are so glad that we chose this home for him. The care he has received is second to none. Dad has always been a quiet gentleman and to see him happy and joining in with the activities was so good. The staff are amazing and nothing
is too much trouble for them, you can contact the home at any time and they are so extremely pleasant and helpful. Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, once again the staff have been brilliant keeping us informed. I received a little homemade gift with a photo of Dad which was such a lovely thought and also received video calls. It was Dad's birthday and Father's Day while the pandemic was happening and the staff arranged a video call and sent photos which were lovely. Before the pandemic happened the home had planned activities and day trips but understandably had to cancel them. We know that Dad is in good hands at Moorend Place and we certainly appreciate everything they do. Thank you to you all.

Mum went into Moorend for respite, but due to covid-19, has now become a permanent resident as she couldn't have lived on her own during this time. The staff are so caring and have kept in touch through this difficult time, contacting me with video calls so Mum could see me. They have addressed health
issues immediately with their GP and always discussed with me before and after the appointment. They have a full timetable of entertainment, which during normal times, includes visits to the cinema, theatre and external entertainers going in. They let the staff help with setting and cleaning the tables at meal times etc as they would do in their own homes. I can't fault Moorend at all.

My husband has been a resident in Moorend Place for 18 months. He is very happy and we as a family are extremely happy with his care and the staff (carers and management) go over and above to care for the resident as well as us his family.
If at any time we have a problem, there is always someone to
talk to and the matter dealt with immediately.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.812)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.812) out of 10 for Moorend Place Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 32 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 32 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.812 for Moorend Place Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (316 Excellents x 5) + (62 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 383 Ratings = 4.812
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Moorend Place Nursing Home is based on 32 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 58 registered maximum number of service users is 11.6, which has been reached with 32 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
