When it became necessary for my mother to have 24 hour care in a nursing home it was a difficult time. We felt guilty, anxious and fearful as a family, mother was very ill and the services we had were inadequate.

The manager of Manorcroft Care Home was very empathetic to me (I'm an Registered General Nurse) and understood the emotional trauma.

The staff, both registered and unqualified were kind, understanding and patient with all our questions and anxieties. They took great care of my mother, nothing was too much, they were compassionate, sincere and maintained my mum's dignity always.

My parents have just moved to Manorcroft. The home has been very accommodating in letting us decorate their rooms to make them as homely as possible. Within just one week we notice a big difference in the way their nursing needs have been addressed compared to their previous homes. Staff are all very friendly and welcoming and there is a really nice atmosphere at Manorcroft.

We visited our family member who was admitted to Manorcroft for respite care. Having visited other homes that smelt strongly of urine e.tc. it was a lovely surprise to visit on that smelt fresh and clean. The staff were lovely and very helpful. Our relative feels safe, comfortable and happy. She also told us the manager was a wonderful and caring young man who really put her at ease. We left feeling much less concerned about her. Thank you Manorcroft.

My mum in law has only been in this home a few weeks. She is happy and is eating well. She likes all the staff and family feel the same way. They are always very friendly and are caring. All in all we are very pleased with the care mum receives from this home.

My mother 92½ has been here for nearly two years. The care, support provided has been excellent. I try to visit most days, but on the days I cant make it I have no issues/worries.

Our mum was resident in Manorcroft for five months and was extremely happy . She was well cared for and comfortable in the time she was there. Although the staff were always very busy they were friendly and caring. It was reassuring to know that she was safe.

Review from Sam G (Grandson of Resident) published on 2 October 2015 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My Grandma was in Manorcroft for a short while whilst waiting for a place in another home to come up, I felt that the newer staff seemed nicer and more up-to-date with new approach to person centred care, but the older staff were complacent and in a rush to get done to take a break, I felt that they were understaffed and running around.
I found grandmas care lacked time and effort as there was stress in the air, one day I came and all I heard in 2hours was a girl shouting commands down the corridor and making derogatory comments to the other staff if they didn't do what she asked, saying she had " been there years and she'll have them sacked". And when questioned about grandma's care seemed to get stroppy as if we shouldn't have been questioning her.

All in all the place wasn't bad but the staffing situation needed a overhaul.

Thank you for your feedback. We take our responsibility for providing high quality care very seriously and are disappointed to hear some of our staff did not meet our high standards on this occasion. We are following up with the local team to ensure these issues are addressed appropriately. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you would like to discuss your feedback further.
