AVOID, AVOID
Appeared very nice on first impressions however after my friend moved in we noticed it wasn't as good as it appeared.
Upon visiting my friend we noticed he had declined massively in health and on numerous occasions told staff about this whom kept saying " they would keep an eye on him and let the dr review him in a few days. After visiting my friend on consecutive days we told the staff he needed a dr and that we noticed colour change in his fingers the dr was only rung the day after because the concerns were taken to the manager.
After dr visited the decision was taken to ring an ambulance.
Paramedics arrive and blood sugars were dangerously low even after we was told my friend had been eating and drinking which was false information.
My friend was taken to hospital where it was shown he had sepsis and an infection.
With deep sadness my friend passed away 10 days.

No compassion.

Mum moved into Colton Lodges residential home a few weeks after her 100th birthday. She was happy and comfortable in her lovely room. The staff cared for her extremely well. After suffering a stroke and spending a few weeks in hospital Mum moved into the nursing care home where she was also well looked after. Colton Lodges has a warm and welcoming atmosphere where staff are very friendly and respectful at all times and keep the family fully informed of any developments. Would definitely recommend.

Our Mum is so well cared for. Any health issues are brought to our attention straight away and care plan reviews ar constantly being updated. The care staff are wonderful and engage Mum in as many activities as possible to help keep her stimulated. It's lovely to see her laughing and smiling. All staff including cleaners, carers, kitchen, laundry staff and managers, particularly activities ladies work so hard to ensure the best care for mum.

Very happy with the care provided. Mum is well looked after and seems content. The staff are very responsive to her needs and go out of their way to engage with her, which makes such a difference. She isn't able to communicate well, but her face lights up when she sees the staff.

Colton Lodge is the best care home I have ever seen, and I am really happy knowing my husband is in such a lovely place and is in good hands. The staff are very caring, and the food is excellent. As soon as you walk in, the atmosphere is very calming and relaxed, and the residents look happy and well looked after. My husband has been in for just over 2 months now, and he is settling in nicely.

Mum has now completed 6 months at Colton Lodge. The experience has surpassed all of our expectations. The rooms are a very good size, the communal areas are very well maintained, and the outside space is immaculate.

Without question, the main assets of Colton Lodges has to be the quality of staff. Fantastic individual contributors and a very well trained team. The staff really care and always go the extra mile. A special mention to the entertainment coordinators. First class... Thank you

Dad was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer in April 2025 whilst in hospital and he also had mixed dementia. There were no places available in Wakefield to meet his needs so I rang HC One to see if they could accommodate dad at short notice. Within days he had been moved in and was being taken care of. Every single member of staff was great with dad even on his most difficult days. His room and clothes were all kept clean, he was fed his special diet and absolutely loved it when the catering team made him a soft diet birthday cake ! His nurses have advocated for what dad wanted first and foremost. The carers and wider team are all lovely, kind, caring people and dad always said of everyone who looked after him 'he's a lovely fella or she's a smashing lady' which meant my sister and I felt absolutely fine when leaving him. The team always kept us informed about dad whether it was good or bad and would support us too when we were finding it very hard sometimes. Highly recommend

My dad has been in the care home for the last 4 weeks after a fall, we were hesitant about him going into care but need not have been. The staff are caring & welcoming, his room is clean & homely & warm, nothing is too much trouble he's really settled in. The staff are friendly I never have to worry about leaving him, he's happy & content and I couldn't ask for anything more. It was a good choice for anyone when a family member is unable to care for themself. I would thoroughly recommend Colton Lodges.

when mum first arrived she was very confused but soon settled in with care and support from the staff team, who listened to our concerns about how much mum's care had changed since August when she was fully independent.
Every member of staff when have ancountered is friendly, cheerful, respectful and kind. We were worried about mum going into care but the care we have received as a family not just mum has been better than we could have hoped.
Mum can no longer vocalise but we can see by her body language she is relaxed and calm which is a great support.
I am kept aware of any changes in mums health and I feel very confident of the care given to mum is the best she could have as she reaches the end of her life journey.
Words cannot express how thankful we are to your fantastic team. I'm not good at this sort of thing but hope you understand how knowing mum is being looked after by such a great team helps us cope with the changes mum is going through.

Thank you all xx

Before dad arrived he was visited in his rehab centre to assess his needs and preferences. He was transported to Colton Lodge with the help of the manager in charge.
Since arriving on the 4th of December dad's care has been second to none. It's lovely to see him clean, cared for and stimulated in a happy environment. The staff are always able to help with dad's needs. His room is clean and the home has a hotel feel all been on one floor.
The only negative would be the extras you have to pay for as in toiletries which we didn't

expect.

My mum recently died at the age of 92 years, during her final 18 months she lived in Garforth House, Colton Lodges where she was very happy. Caroline and all the staff were brilliant with mum, pandering to her care needs and mental wellbeing. I cannot thank them all enough for enhancing mum's life and giving her quality time in addition the care and consideration given to us all on mum's death by all concerned was of the highest order. Thanks to all.

My mum moved into Colton Lodge in Jan 2024, it took her a long time to settle, but she has thanks to the most wonderful team of staff who care for her needs, both her and our dementia journey has been easier. The personal experience they create for every dementia patient is excellent and I couldn't ask for more. She is settled, content and safe, which is simply amazing and all down to the dedicated and caring staff. I couldn't be more grateful.

The change in D since coming to Colton Lodges Care Home is amazing to see. She looks so well. Being a carer myself I can tell that D is being cared for properly. I used to work here at Colton Lodges 7 or so years ago, it loosk a lot fresher and seems to be running really well since I was here. I've also noticed D has been joining in with activities. It's really nice to see the different activities here. Really happy for D.

My great aunt is a resident at this care home, and I honestly couldn't be more grateful for the wonderful care she receives. The staff are absolutely amazing, they go above and beyond every single day to make sure she's comfortable, happy, and treated with so much kindness and respect.

The level of compassion and attention they show to residents with dementia is truly outstanding. The home is always warm, welcoming, and full of life, and it gives our whole family such peace of mind knowing she's in such capable and caring hands.

Everything about this place is exceptional, from the cleanliness and atmosphere to the activities and personal touches that make it feel like home. Thank you to all the staff for the incredible work you do. You are real angels!
