My mum has been a resident of Colton Lodges Care Home since February 2020 and in all this time, we have been happy with the care and dignity with which she has been treated. She can no longer sit in the lounge and join in any activities but she always looks warm and cosy in her room. A big thank you to the carers on the Newsam Wing.

The home is clean, good food. Husband is well looked after. Day staff have a good relationship with both husband and family. Room is nice, would prefer hard flooring not carpet. The activity staff are lovely, trips are good such as nature walks/pubs.

My sister has been a resident of Colton Lodges Care Home for almost 4 years now. Her condition has deteriorated in that time but the kindness and care has stayed the same high standard. Thank you.

Mum moved here from another residential - only home as she now needs nursing care. We are very happy with the care she has received. The staff are lovely and well trained and she is treated with care and consideration. Particularly as she is living with dementia. She has thrived here, and we are so happy to see her doing so well.

When I go and visit my brother, I can see for myself the good care he gets. The food is excellent. You can go to any staff if there is a problem. They are so kind and caring, nothing is too much trouble. The entertainment and activities are good. They are taken on trips. It is a very well run home.

My mum has been in Colton Lodges Care Home for 4 months now and she is happy and looked after. The nurses and staff are always happy to help and will listen to you if you have any problems. The nurses and staff will also keep you informed of any issues with your loved one. I can sleep easier knowing she is safe and that mum is being cared for with compassion and care.

Buzzers not answered in time. Big shortage of staff. Medication not being given on time. Patients who can't help themselves should be washed down or showered, plus their hands should be washed before meals. Some are left in wet pads which causes bad smells of urine and the patients smelling of urine. Some are left in their chairs just staring at the same four walls all day with no motivation. The food is really bad and not enough, so they are told there is not enough to go round, i.e. meatballs (just one per patient), ice cream etc. What about their dignity? It's so sad.

I visit regularly at Colton Lodge and I have found it to be quite a depressing time. The residents just sit in the lounge staring at the walls, there is no or hardly any interaction between residents and staff. On visiting my friend or making requests to staff such as nail cutting, hand washing, and cuts - their reply is yes it will get done but takes weeks for basic needs to be met. There is minimum communication between staff - no one seems to know any answers.

I am very pleased with the care Mum is given at Colton Lodges. The staff are always friendly and smiling, and are always happy to answer any questions. If there are any problems, they contact me immediately and contact the doctor immediately if there are any medical issues. There are lots of activities for residents to take part in. Mum always says she enjoys the food and that it is appetising and nicely cooked.

The decision to put Gran in a care home was really difficult and took us a long time to pick the best one. We visited 4 homes in Leeds. We chose Colton Lodges after a second visit at a different time. The staff are lovely, so kind and caring. Gran is on the general nursing unit. She has a lovely room looking out onto the garden. I live far away and find it difficult to visit but I'm always getting updates on how Gran is and how well she is looking. The family cannot fault the care she is receiving. Thank you all for making us feel at ease.

My husband has been a resident requiring nursing and dementia care since last December. Overall I have been very happy with everything. The care and support offered, not just to him, but to me too has been amazing. If I am there at a mealtime, I am always offered a meal too and tea or coffee is always offered. The residents are treated with dignity and respect, (they are consulted over which clothes they want to wear that day for example and they are shown plates of each choice of main course at meal times so it is easy for them to choose what they want). Every member of staff, be they nursing, caring, catering, housekeeping, maintenance, admin, or management is very friendly and approachable and I feel it is important to them that their residents are as happy and comfortable as possible.

I was amazed at how much furniture was thrown away during the months of decorating the home. A lot of the items were in good order and could have been passed on, given to charity, or kept in the home for continued use.
The replacement wash basins in the rooms are awful without a plug and a waste of water after the residents wash with a running tap! The shelf in the wardrobe is too high to reach.

At the end of the corridor there was homely wallpaper of plants and books now it is just white emulsion, as clinical.
