Gledhow provides nursing, dementia, palliative and short-stay care for up to 51 residents in a purpose-built home tucked away in a leafy suburb of Leeds.

Set at the end of a quiet driveway, the home offers a calm and connected setting just 10 minutes from Leeds city centre. Residents benefit from nearby green spaces like Roundhay Park and local amenities on the nearby high street. A bus stop at the bottom of the drive makes visiting simple.

All bedrooms are en-suite and can be personalised with familiar touches. The home includes a sensory room, garden room, salon, and a dedicated pub-style lounge known as The Gledhow Arms. There’s also a dementia café and a strong pastoral presence through the home’s full-time chaplain.

Meals are freshly cooked by a team of three experienced chefs, with input from residents. Popular options include Friday fish and chips, seafood specials, and themed menus. Afternoon teas, birthday cakes, and pub lunches make mealtimes social and memorable.

Daily life includes “Move to Music,” flower arranging, Reading Club, Joyful Noise singalongs, and animal therapy visits. Trips, intergenerational events with local schools, and volunteer-run projects bring colour and community throughout the year.

Since my mother's entry into Gledhow nearly 10 years ago, she has been treated with compassion and dignity by all the staff, when my mum entered the home, her life expectancy was 3 months, I think it is due to the excellent care she receives at the home is the reason for her longevity, the staff are
a credit to the group and are superbly led by fantastic management and staff. Kind regards.

The staff at Gledhow care home were fantastic in the way that they managed Mum's move from hospital into the facility and immediately made her comfortable and at home.
She was always treated with care, dignity and respect and I am very grateful that her final days were in such a wonderfully caring
place.

My Mum received wonderful care at Gledhow - all the staff are so caring, professional and respectful of the residents. The ethos is fantastic - nothing is too much trouble either for residents or relatives and the staff, whether nurses, carers or domestic staff, all buy into that approach and do brilliant
jobs. I am so grateful for all the staff did for Mum and I know she could have been better cared for. Gledhow is a superb nursing home and if you can get a place for your relatives there do it!

Mum has only been at Gledhow for approx 3 weeks; however, the care she received was outstanding. In the last few days of Mum's life, it was so obvious that the staff were simply not doing a job; they actually really cared.
I can honestly say that when I was asked to go the nursing home as Mum had deteriorated
I wasn't sure if I would be able to handle the situation (as never had to do anything like that before. I was only able to do this with the support of the staff who also looked after me, keeping me fed and watered, as well as mum.
I will never forget the kindness and care of every member of staff I encountered over the five days I was there.
Special thanks to the senior male nurse and Deputy Manager who supported me on the day Mum passed.
My sister and I will never forget the exceptional care Mum received and it brings us both comfort at this difficult time.

My mum has been at Gledhow for over 12 years. She has had excellent care throughout this time. The staff are wonderful. Very caring and kind. Management is also very good. Very responsive communication. I'm so thankful for everyone there, for all they do.

My father had a very good stay here. The staff were all lovely and helpful. Big special shout out to one of the staff who went above and beyond. Sadly he became ill due to his illness and had to be moved to a hospice. (His wish was to die at the hospice) but wouldn't hesitate to recommend the home and
the manager and all the lovely staff.

Since my wife moved into Gledhow, she has been extremely well looked after by the excellent team. They are always welcoming and considerate and do their very best to keep her safe and well cared for. The homecooked meals are lovely - especially the homemade cake on her birthday. The continuous programme
of activities demonstrated the dedication to making the residents feel stimulated and entertained. The staff are not only supportive of my wife but also of all of us as a family. Thank you, Gledhow!

I want to say a huge thank you to Gledhow for the wonderful care they gave my father over the last 3 months. He wasn't always an easy patient but they always showed the utmost respect for him, putting his welfare at the centre of everything they did. They were also a huge support for all of the family.
We really can't thank them enough, they made a very difficult time bearable, thank you.

When we were in urgent need of nursing home support we could not have asked for more from the team at Gledhow. Within 4 hours of our initial visit they warmly welcomed Mum into their care. Naturally she did not wish to leave her own home and it was a great relief when she was soon expressing her surprise
at how we had managed to find somewhere so homely with such welcoming and caring staff, responsive to her personal wishes.
Being a regular church goer coming to terms with a terminal diagnosis the pastoral support provided by the dedicated chaplain was greatly appreciated.
As Mum’s condition deteriorated the level of care was correspondingly increased, this including the assuring support of the specialist community nursing team based at a nearby hospice.

The staff at Gledhow are wonderful. When Dad moved in, there was nothing that was too much trouble. The staff treat Dad with respect and care and we have full confidence that he is in the right place. Being able to personalise his room has really helped him settle. The environment that has been created
here is truly home from home. The nursing team are always available to discuss our concerns regarding Dad's palliative care and provide us with support and reassurance.

Mum was a resident for 2 years and during that time her dementia went from bad to worse, leaving her often in distress. Having her cared for so well at MHA Gledhow was such a blessing as we felt the staff understood her and were compassionate and empathetic. If we had any concerns, they were listened
to and acted upon wherever possible. The manager was particularly supportive and helpful, but so were all the staff with whom we interacted.

My mother-in-law resided at Gledhow Care Home for two years and throughout that time received excellent care from every member of staff. In the second year of her stay her medical needs increased quite dramatically and the care she received from the wonderful nurses and care staff could not be better.
She, and the family, were given so much love, compassion and respect, her end-of-life care was a very positive, though sad, experience.

Mum has been cared for at Gledhow for the last seven months. The care she has received has been great. The staff are caring and accommodating to both residents and family. Facilities are good, nice rooms, lounges and a garden room. Mum was always treated with respect and could join in activities when
she felt able.
I would recommend to other families.

My dad has received excellent care from everyone at Gledhow. When he couldn't sleep, due to a noisy resident, he was offered another room and has settled into it well. He is not very clear sometimes where he is or why, but he does say that everyone looks after him well and they're all friendly. It's
not an easy job and I thank everyone. There is always a lovely, friendly, lively atmosphere in the home and everyone is approachable and eager to assist/answer queries etc. I feel very much more at ease knowing Dad is being well cared for.

My stepmother, who also had a dementia diagnosis, moved to Gledhow ten weeks after suffering a stroke. She was confused and could do very little for herself. Throughout her short stay at Gledhow, she was treated with kindness, gentleness and respect. When she died within three weeks of her arrival,
she was building good relationships with the carers and responding positively as they encouraged her to join others for meals and enabled her to participate in activities. Whatever their role at Gledhow, the staff we met couldn't have been more helpful to us, answering our questions, patiently helping us as we put things in place to improve her comfort and wellbeing, welcoming us as we visited and weeping with us when she died so suddenly. Thank you all for your loving kindness.
