Warde Aldam provides nursing, dementia, palliative and short-stay care for up to 60 residents in a purpose-built home in South Elmsall, near Pontefract.

Set on the historic grounds of the former Warde Aldam Hospital, the home blends modern design with local heritage. Located close to public transport and South Elmsall town centre, residents enjoy easy access to shops, a library and nearby green spaces including Frickley Park.

The home is laid out over three ground-floor households, each with direct garden access and its own communal areas. Single bedrooms are all en-suite and can be personalised with familiar items, offering comfort and continuity.

The landscaped grounds include winding paths, raised beds, a mini woodland and a sensory memorial tree. Residents enjoy gardening, feeding birds, and taking in visits from local wildlife like squirrels and rabbits.

My mother-in-law was cared for by the staff at Warde Aldam for approximately 4 years - initially and throughout with chronic Alzheimer's Disease, and latterly in need of a great deal of nursing care and attention.


My wife and I can well appreciate how difficult it can be to provide a first class

product and service to those in need of such care, but in Warde Aldam we not only found a place with the facilities and fabric to do so, we also found staff who's dedication and patience were second to none.


My mother-in-law passed away on 31 July 2015 but the enduring sadness will be made easier to bear by the knowledge that Warde Aldam made her as comfortable as anyone could in such difficult circumstances. We are extremely grateful to the staff in general and in particular to two real stars who also helped the whole family through these last difficult years.
