Care and support at Mallard Court is delivered through personalised care planning, a process that begins with an assessment, carried out before admission where possible, and completed with the individual concerned, together with relatives.
Information is built upon admission and at regular reviews. It covers areas like needs, risks, likes and dislikes, so it provides a basis for areas as diverse as deciding about activities programmes and external contacts, looking at any rehabilitative medical needs and discussions with the chef about diet (who will tailor meal choices to the individual).
The team and any relevant health professional are an important element of the system when carrying out regular reviews and updates with the individuals and relatives.

Mum has settled in really well and says she is happy to be looked after and in time I feel she will participate in the many activities on offer. I would recommend Mallard Court to anyone. Mum moved into Mallard Court last month with problems following dissatisfying care. Huge improvements followed quickly after excellent care on Memory Lane. Sadly she now has behavioural problems following a fall which left her unable to walk. The carers have a difficult time with mum but the caring never falters and they appear to have a genuine fondness. Sadly the refurbishment in the lounge/dining area, though very nice to look at, benefits neither the residents or the carers. We feel the blocking of the inner windows prevents the carers keeping an eye on residents when doing other jobs or when in the office. The residents, on the whole, do not like the tiny lounge and try often in vain, to find a comfortable seat in the extremely restricted area in the dining room. The downstairs refurbished lounge is excellent.

I initially joined as a Carer and was promoted to Senior Carer, and progressed to the position of Deputy Manager in a care home. I have also trained in the position of Care Coordinator in home care. I have a very caring nature and have really enjoyed my career in the care sector, helping others.
