Hampden House

Helpful staff on arrival. I was impressed with all the measures in place to support residents and their visitors during the coronavirus pandemic.

My father needed respite care and this was arranged very quickly. Hampden House has provided a safe and caring environment for Dad. He has dementia which combined with the current restrictions because of COVID makes things difficult. The staff have all been very supportive of Mum and I and he is receiving excellent care. Thank you

My mother moved into Hampden House in November 2019 from another Care Home. She had been having recurrent falls and was unable to manage in her own home. Hampden House is based in lovely grounds, with plenty of space for residents to safely remain active. The staff are fun, friendly and professional and I feel that my mother is being well looked after - she said to me the staff are her friends! There is a great programme of stimulating activities as well and residents can get involved as much or as little as they want to - there are keep fit classes, art classes, baking, films, musician performances, a library and more. As a family, we are so happy that our mother feels comfortable and settled at Hampden. Their response to the Covid-19 crisis has also been extremely professional.

Hampden House provided end of life care for my Mother. The service they provided was exemplary. They were professional, attentive, and caring. They always went the extra mile and were lovely with Mum. They attended both her medical and emotional care and were supportive and vigilant throughout her stay. The carers had a lovely sense of humour which we all appreciated. They were also very supportive of the wider family. Thank you!

Well-appointed, clean and tidy. Staff friendly. Food is OK. Well looked after.

Twice I have been rushed to the hospital since I arrived here on 6th September, due to the staff quick recognition all was not well, I had refused help from hospital (one involving a major op). I was most impressed with the care and reaction to my needs. Now the aftercare and encouragement in my recovery is great on all lengths.

Lack of contact with management of home.

I was at the home for almost 4 weeks after a hip operation for rehab and found the home excellent. All of the staff were very good and helpful - food was also excellent.

Activities are improving but there is room to improve.

The staff make Hampden House I cannot praise them enough they are superb, a happy, caring and kind group. Excellent food is served daily and domestic and laundry staff do a great job. The rooms are looking a little tired and a few more activities would be appreciated. Overall I personally am happy at and with Hampden House.

I have been a resident here since September 5th and in the three months of my residency have found the staff to be extremely kind and caring. As I am unable to take part in some of the activities, I have not completed the questions. The ones I have attended I enjoyed very much e.g. armchair yoga, Scrabble, creative writing, gardening, quizzes.

I would like to be taken into Harrogate shopping once a forgnight.

This traumatic move was, for me made easier by the kindness and seemingly genuine understanding of all the staff. Friends warned that nothing is perfect, perhaps not, but I am happy with whatever this is.

Only been here two days but so far everything has been up to a very high standard.

Excellent initial impression. My father has been a resident for less than 2 weeks. The initial assessment was very friendly, sensitive and thorough. A room for respite care in the first instance was arranged very efficiently at less than 2 days notice. All the staff go out of their way to help and the atmosphere is warm, welcoming and caring. Aids for my father's very poor eyesight e.g. tactile marker on his door, coloured plates are helpful. I cannot comment on the entertainment as my father has had visitors and outings with family, so has not experienced this yet. He and we are seriously considering long-term residence; a tribute to the high quality of the care he has received to date.

My father has been treated with the utmost dignity at the end of his life. Thank you.

Moving from your own home to a care home is not easy. It takes time to get used to the change but in my case, it had to be. I am getting settled slowly. All the days seem the same and I find it rather boring at times. Events are organised which helps.

This is the most pleasant stay - long term or short. The staff are excellent and most helpful and I would not hesitate to return. Lovely bedrooms. Food etc and lots of things to do.
