The staff at Mount Vale are very caring but the home definitely has insufficient staff mainly because some of the residents with dementia on the the 1st floor need a lot of care and attention. The staff at Mount Vale are very caring but the home definitely has insufficient staff mainly because some of the residents with dementia on the the 1st floor need a lot of care and attention. I usually visit in an afternoon and it is often impossible to find help if my husband needs to be cleaned or changed. I sometimes do it myself but at 87 years old I find it difficult and sometimes staff have to stay in the lounge "on watch" as residents can't be left safely. An extra member of staff would really help. Sometimes it is obvious my husband hasn't had a shave for 3 days. I am grateful for all that the staff do but considering the cost of care it would be nice if he had a more frequent shave and perhaps his pad could be checked now + again

My sister moved in just last week 2-7 2025 and the change in her is incredible - from day 1 the staff have been nothing but amazing - extremely friendly, couldn't do enough for us, very supportive - I went to visit her at the weekend, she's bedbound, in her last home she was always just dressed in a nightie 24/7, she said with a smile on her face "Look what I'm wearing", pulled the quilt back and she was fully dressed, wonderful, we went to visit her today and for the 1st time in years she'd had a shower, was sat in her wheelchair waiting to go to the hairdressers. The family cannot thank the staff enough.

Mount Vale has been the home for mum for 2 years. The staff are amazing nothing is too small or large they can't handle. Food and entertainment are always 5-star. Shortly after my sister's husband had died she moved into Mount Vale Care Home on Easter Saturday of this year. All the staff, office, management, activities, the nurses, kitchen staff, have all been so helpful and understanding. Her room is delightful, overlooking the garden. My cousin and I were invited to join everyone for a Coronation party on the afternoon of 5th May. Mount Vale was decorated to a very high standard, even the "stone dog" wore red, white and blue! The kitchen staff provided amazing party food for us all, even fit for the King and Queen. Thank you.

Our family have nothing but praise for the manager and her team. The standard of care is exemplary, and all the staff ( nursing, carers, housekeeping, and admin) are a credit to Mount Vale. The care home itself is beautifully decorated and we always found Mum's room and en-suite to be clean and tidy. The resident's meals and snacks are also of a high standard. There are plenty of activities going on in the home for those wanting to join in. Mum was always treated extremely well and it is obvious that all the staff have taken the time to get to know each of the residents. We as a family have always been made to feel welcome during visits. During Mum's final days, the staff treated both Mum and our family with the utmost care, respect, dignity and sincerity and a couple even attended her funeral.

My dear mum stayed here for twenty months. She was treated with the greatest love and care possible by the very hard-working staff. On numerous visits, I found everyone welcoming to us and supportive towards residents. Their dedication and devotion under sometimes challenging situations (Covid regulations, staff recruitment issues) are to be respected. Mount Vale Care Home was clean, light and airy and there were activities when possible.- again impacted by Covid/ staffing issues. Mum loved to walk in the garden every day, weather permitting and this was facilitated. I have visited family and friends in ten care homes over the years and Mount Vale Care Home consistently stands out as the best by far. During Mum's last days, all the staff again were exemplary and treated Mum with the greatest kindness and respect, which in turn, made this time more bearable for my daughter who has a very special bond with her grandma, my family and myself. Thank you.

Hi, I’m Camille, Deputy Manager and Registered Nurse at Mount Vale Care Home.
I used to work in a different care home as a nurse, supporting residents with a variety of nursing and complex care needs. My experience in care has taught me that good nursing isn’t just about medications, observations and care plans; it’s about knowing the person behind them. Everyone has a story, and I’ve always enjoyed getting to know it.
One of my favourite parts of my role is leading and supporting our clinical team. I love coaching people, sharing knowledge and seeing someone grow in confidence. I try to be the person I wish I’d had around when I was learning: someone approachable who will help rather than make you afraid to ask questions.
I also genuinely enjoy spending time with our residents and learning about who they were before they came to live with us. They’ve had careers, families, adventures, romances, mischief and entire lives before we ever met them. Sometimes their stories are much more interesting than anything I could find on Netflix!
Outside of work, I’m a committed documentary binge-watcher, particularly anything involving true crime, investigations, war, soldiers or medicine. I also love House and Grey’s Anatomy. Apparently, working in healthcare all day and then coming home to watch fictional healthcare is my idea of switching off! On a good day, you may also find me in Wetherspoons.
I don’t have pets of my own, but I’ve managed to acquire several honorary ones! I’m friends with Ruby, a Spaniel–Black Labrador cross, and I’m the proud god-fur-parent to two cats, Whiskey and Kobe.

Hi, I’m Shaki, a Healthcare Assistant at Mount Vale Care Home.
Before joining Mount Vale, I worked as an agency support worker and, before that, as an administrative officer in my home country. These roles gave me valuable experience supporting others, which I have been able to bring into my role at Mount Vale.
I really enjoy getting to know our residents and spending time with them. Building positive relationships and being there to support people is something I find very rewarding, and I believe that kindness can make a real difference, especially when someone is going through a difficult time.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family. I also love reading and jogging, which helps me stay active and fit.
I don’t have a particular pet, but I do enjoy watching squirrels from afar! I’m also someone who genuinely enjoys helping people who may be struggling or in need of support, and I believe that everyone deserves kindness and understanding.

I love my job as I am able to have lovely conversations with all of our residents and relatives every day. Previous to working at Mount Vale, I was a housekeeper or BT for 18 years, as well as being a creche leader at my local leisure centre.

I have had a varied career and have enjoyed many different roles over the years. I worked as an office junior at Boots for 20 years, ran a pub for a couple of years, and have experience in home care and as a Healthcare Assistant with the NHS. I also worked in retail before retiring. After retirement, I joined Mount Vale Care Home, where I now work as a receptionist and cleaner.
I really enjoy spending time with our residents, learning about them and helping to make a positive difference to their day. I’m a real people person and enjoy getting to know everyone.

Before joining Mount Vale, I worked as a Health and Safety Officer and Training Manager, bringing my experience and passion for supporting people into my role today.
My favourite thing about Mount Vale is the residents. I really enjoy spending time talking with them, getting to know them and hearing their stories. I also enjoy supporting the staff team with their training and helping them develop the skills and confidence they need to provide the best possible care.

Jack and Pals Therapy Dogs visit Mount Vale Care Home each month and have been visiting for over three years with their owner, Wendy. The team consists of Alf and his grandson Billy, who are both Border Collies. Jack, the founding canine pal of the organisation, visited for many years until he passed this year. Their visits aim to provide companionship, friendship and spread happiness to all they visit each month. Many of the residents have been dog owners themselves and enjoy chatting to the team about their own dogs. Billy and Alf are Wendy’s own dogs, who have been temperament assessed and then insured and registered with Jack and Pals Therapy Dogs as being suitable dogs to carry the title of therapy dog. They also compete in agility and obedience, but most of all enjoy a good cuddle with their family and friends.Jack and Pal’s mission is to bring the exceptional benefits of therapy dogs to the residents of Mount Vale, and they do this free of charge, relying on donations from fundraising events, regular or one-off donations. The organisation has visiting canine pals throughout the county who visit care and nursing homes, prisons, educational settings, businesses and day care centre on a weekly and monthly basis too.

My military career took its toll on me, and I was medically discharged through injuries received after just short of 20 years' service, and yes, I would sign up again in a heartbeat.My son is a fifth-generation veteran who served for 12 Years in the RAF and is serving on TCW like myself. I do wonder if any of my many grandchildren will become the sixth generation to serve
