Staff are proud to be one of the first homes to be accredited as part of Barchester’s 10-60-06 Dementia Care programme, reflecting the enhanced quality of dementia care and improved quality of life experienced by those they support. They also offer respite care and short breaks, which can be pre-booked up to a year in advance.

A beautifully restored, former maternity hospital, Mount Vale is located in the scenic Northallerton. It has easy access to both the North Yorkshire Dales, Cleveland and the historic city of York.

The home is also situated close to Thirsk, Ripon, Yarm, Stokesley, Richmond and Bedale, so is well placed for visiting friends and family, who are always welcome.

Shortly after my sister's husband had died she moved into Mount Vale Care Home on Easter Saturday of this year. All the staff, office, management, activities, the nurses, kitchen staff, have all been so helpful and understanding. Her room is delightful, overlooking the garden. My cousin and I were invited
to join everyone for a Coronation party on the afternoon of 5th May. Mount Vale was decorated to a very high standard, even the "stone dog" wore red, white and blue! The kitchen staff provided amazing party food for us all, even fit for the King and Queen. Thank you.

My mum was a resident at Mount Vale for almost 3 years in Memory Lane.
Our family have nothing but praise for the manager and her team. The standard of care is exemplary, and all the staff ( nursing, carers, housekeeping, and admin) are a credit to Mount Vale. The care home itself is beautifully decorated
and we always found Mum's room and en-suite to be clean and tidy. The resident's meals and snacks are also of a high standard. There are plenty of activities going on in the home for those wanting to join in. Mum was always treated extremely well and it is obvious that all the staff have taken the time to get to know each of the residents. We as a family have always been made to feel welcome during visits. During Mum's final days, the staff treated both Mum and our family with the utmost care, respect, dignity and sincerity and a couple even attended her funeral.

My dear mum stayed here for twenty months. She was treated with the greatest love and care possible by the very hard-working staff. On numerous visits, I found everyone welcoming to us and supportive towards residents. Their dedication and devotion under sometimes challenging situations (Covid regulations,
staff recruitment issues) are to be respected. Mount Vale Care Home was clean, light and airy and there were activities when possible.- again impacted by Covid/ staffing issues. Mum loved to walk in the garden every day, weather permitting and this was facilitated. I have visited family and friends in ten care homes over the years and Mount Vale Care Home consistently stands out as the best by far. During Mum's last days, all the staff again were exemplary and treated Mum with the greatest kindness and respect, which in turn, made this time more bearable for my daughter who has a very special bond with her grandma, my family and myself. Thank you.

Mount Vale Care Home is a warm, friendly home. The management is efficient and well-organised. The staff are wonderful and do a really good job sometimes in difficult circumstances. My observation would be that there are occasions when they are stretched and staffing levels could be increased. This
problem cannot always be solved by expensive agency staff some of whom do not always reach the quality of the lower-paid permanent staff. Neither do they have the same relationship with the residents. Food and facilities are of a good standard. There is a wide range of activities and visits which are very well organised and everyone is encouraged to join in if they so wish. I feel comforted that my husband is receiving the best of care at Mount Vale Care Home.

I am very impressed with Mount View Care Home. All of the staff from the launders, carers, caterers, nurses and management show care, respect and concern for the residents. I am so impressed with the kindness, sociability and resourcefulness and politeness and warmth of all staff. They are willing to find answers to put right any hiccups in a calm "can do" way. Even when agency staff have found problems, the attitude is... I don't know, "but I know a man/woman who can".
Excellent was within reach; we all know we can do better, and all staff are willing to do so!

My dad arrived on the dementia unit (Memory Lane) in May 2021 after breaking his hip. My mum had been admitted to the same unit in April 2021. My dad died in September 2021. My dad was really well cared for during his time at Mount Vale and he was comfortable and dignified at the end of his life. Mum
remains at Mount Vale in the dementia unit and I am confident that she will continue to be well cared for Highly recommended.

On the first contact with Mount Vale, I was treated with respect and efficiency. An immediate invitation was offered to visit and inspect. When my wife arrived her immediate needs and comfort were seen too, this continued until her passing.

I am very pleased with how Mount Vale looks after my mother. The care and support which they give her is always excellent and all the staff treat her with the utmost kindness and respect. Mount Vale have been exceptional throughout all the Coivd period. Not only have all the residents been kept safe
and well, but the staff have all gone the 'extra mile' and ensured that my mother and all the residents have had love and social support when no visiting was allowed. A very big thank you to all at Mount Vale.

My dad was on the memory lane unit for 3 weeks for emergency respite care, throughout his stay he was treated with respect and dignity always, even when things were difficult. He was encouraged to join in activities and even enjoyed dancing! My mum and myself were always made to feel welcome and nothing
was too much trouble. Staff were always polite and went the extra mile. We have now found dad a new home nearer to family and friends but I will always be grateful for the care he received and will recommend Mount Vale always.

The decision to move my dad into a care home was a hard one to make, not helped by lockdown happening soon after. However, once we could begin visiting again it was lovely to see how settled he was and it had definitely become home to him. This made us confident it had been the right decision and that

Just absolutely excellent. The care and love they show my mum is outstanding. During the lockdown, they have sent photos and updates and began garden visits as soon as it was possible. Can't recommend enough.

My Mum has only recently moved into the Mount Vale Care Home. All her admission details including a Covid test were done efficiently and quickly and everyone was extremely helpful and friendly.
She's now been in the home just over a month and is settling in and has made friends and is now accepting
of the situation - she was living independently in a bungalow but struggling to look after herself properly due to the onset of Alzheimer's. It's never easy making these decisions but in view of Covid and her dementia, it was definitely the right decision. When I speak with Mum she says things like 'it's brilliant' and 'I'm definitely in the right place' and always comments on the helpful and friendly staff. This has helped greatly making the move from her home to the care home.
The home is fantastic and we call it Mum's 5-star hotel - it's spotless and beautifully decorated with a fab lounge and dining area.
The main thing Mum is safe, secure and happy, and so in that knowledge am I.

My Dad has received a very good quality of care whilst resident at Mount Vale. The nurses and care staff have taken a great deal of trouble to ensure Dad was well cared for. This was obvious whenever we visited him. They were also very caring with us as a family, which counts for a huge amount.
