The care in planning our mother's move to Connaught Court was exemplary. The support shown to my sister and me during the transaction has been amazing and nothing has been too much trouble.

Mum moved into the dementia wing at Connaught Court and her care has been really good. The staff soon got to know her likes and dislikes and strengths and weaknesses. The staff are always willing to go the extra mile. Her care when in the residential wing was average as mum did not get the support she needed. Not a criticism more a build for others at this early dementia stage as more help is needed.

We visit our friend regularly. The care provided is excellent our friend has settled and joins in the many activities. We usually stay to lunch well-presented food and a warm welcoming dining room. All areas are so warm and welcoming. There are facilities for coffee and biscuits, the staff are so welcoming and remember our names. We have been a visitor for 18 months it is a care home we would choose if we could afford it.

Prior to Mum coming to live here, she was in another nursing home and very unhappy. Although Mum has only been a resident for 9 days here we are very impressed as to what the care home staff have managed to achieve in such a short space of time. Mum is happy and seems to be eating a lot better. Her personal care needs seem well met, including having her hair washed and set for the first time in 2 1/2 years. The staff have been able to encourage social interaction and, again, for the first time in 2 1/2years she is out of bed and interacting socially. Overall, our impression of the care and attention to detail of the staff is highly commendable.

My father is extremely happy at Connaught Court. They try to give him the support to be independent. The staff are all very caring and look for areas and suggest to me things he needs. They are very proactive. The house has become his home. I would recommend highly Connaught Court York.

I visit regularly partly as a friend and partly as a Lodge Almoner and it is lovely to see the way staff look after residents. Especially when they are new arrivals because this can be a very traumatic time for them.

The home is clean and personnel friendly. I find the decor of Mum's room to be a little on the drab side, personally I would have thought that a brighter decor would be more appropriate.

Whilst participation is very much down to residents, I would have hoped for more emphasis on availability of activities - a daily film perhaps is not overly difficult to provide? Maybe involvement in flower arranging for use throughout the home??

Mum has been less than complimentary about the food standard - I would add, however, that my personal experience of a midday meal was that it was very good, I am not convinced that Mum's view is the norm! - maybe a reaction to no longer providing meals for herself.

I am very happy here because it is like being in your own home but with the knowledge that if I need help in any way, it is here for me. The meals are excellent - 3 great meals a day, plus coffee time with snack. I am surrounded by kind and friendly people all the time. We have a wonderful garden to enjoy. We are entertained and have lots of opportunities to make friends so one never feels lonely!

My mother has been a resident for two years and recently had to move to the dementia wing.

The move was handled very sensitively. The staff are very attentive and friendly, taking time with each resident to engage and interact/stimulate them. Activities are good and outside visits and walks valued and are key memories for mum.

My mother moved into Connaught Court five years ago to be with my father who needed nursing care there. My father's last year was much enhanced by the care and support he found there. After his death, mum stayed on and has a wide circle of friends and enjoys all of the entertainment and outings that are provided, so she is never lonely or bored. Staff are invariably helpful and supportive and all facilities and rooms are clean and well furnished. Overall, we have been delighted and have no regrets or worries.
