Following Mum's move into Connaught Court, she has settled in very easily. She is well looked after by the care staff dealing with her medical needs. She is well fed with a good choice of menu. I have very few reasons to complain about the care here. Before coming to Connaught Court I had a short time in another care home in York. It was nothing like as comfortable as Connaught Court in every way, and it was more expensive!

My room is more than adequate. I have a nice view from my window of open parkland and mature trees. Reception is handled by friendly and knowledgeable staff. The food is good and the menu repeats over a three week period. I particularly enjoy breakfast. The staff on Knavesmire are friendly and sympathetic.
I am concerned that another resident often enters my room without my permission.

Having been a resident for five years I am completely satisfied I receive very good attention and service from the staff.
I enjoy the entertainment and am prepared to join in. Most participants like to help out when asked. In-house activity usually arranged with many residents participating.

My mother is always clean, warm, fed well and on most days has a smile which is everything I could wish for.
The whole atmosphere is welcoming, warm and friendly on every visit. The buildings and rooms are immaculate. Food is hot and looks tasty.

Connaught Court is a well run care home. Staff at all levels are knowledgeable, considerate and caring. The environment is very good - clean, well maintained and comfortable. There are well thought out public areas - lounges, balconies, conservatory, gardens - especially after the make-over in January
2016.
There are frequent events and exercises for residents with a wide-ranging and full events programme. Food is good with flexibility to have it in one of two dining rooms or in private rooms.

Since my mother moved into Connaught Court her life has improved. The staff are excellent, my mother moved from another dementia home which was horrible. Now she's in Connaught Court both her and her family are much happier knowing she has the best on offer.

Facilities always clean and tidy. Food varied and acceptable (good vegetarian options).
Personal care good and responsive. Choice of activities acceptable - main problem is remember what's on - maybe a better way of reminding the residents what's happening that day. Car parking for visitors very poor.

Visiting my friend. Unfortunately he spends a lot of time resting in bed. If he was more stimulated to be involved as he was always a very active person. Otherwise the home is well run, very efficiently and well mannered staff. Lovely warm, clean and very homely.

Has deteriorated in recent years due to staff shortages and certain building preparations being carried out. Residents communications re these subjects are poor and cause confusions as to what is happening.

Marinda Aydinalp

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2014

Marinda Aydinalp joined Connaught Court as Deputy Home Manager in June 2014. In February 2022, she was promoted to Home Manager.


Marinda demonstrates clear vision, passion and dedication for the residents in her care. She played a significant part in Connaught Court being rated ‘Outstanding’ by CQC in 2023.


Marinda leads a highly experienced and dedicated team. She inspires them by being a role model in both her leadership and her passion for delivering the best care for residents.


Marinda has achieved the Dementia Care Mapping qualification whilst also pursuing an NVQ Level 5 Apprenticeship Programme. This demonstrates her commitment to continuously expanding her knowledge, enabling her to provide exceptional dementia care.


Marinda has created a Namaste Room, which allows residents living with dementia to enjoy a relaxing environment. The room has sensory equipment, including tactile walls, fibre optic lights, a star projector and bubble tubes, which support residents’ mental health and well-being.
