My dad moved in June 2022 until he passed in December 2023. He had advanced Parkinson's and needed nursing care.
The home is well laid out. It doesn't smell like some others.
The most important part of any care home is the staff and they are top-grade here. Some cared for my dad even more than family
members could - with their heart.
From the manager to the nurses, to the carers to everyone else, the staff were top class.
With regards to activities. There was always something going on, although my dad's condition meant he didn't partake.
On my dad's passing, the care home helped the family. They offered an undertaker, they gave us space and time to collect Dad's things to empty the room.
Well recommend.

My 92 year old father, increasingly frail and in poor health, moved into Pavilion Court earlier this year, after the death of my mum in April. I have nothing but praise for Pavilion Court. Right from the start the management were solicitous and reassuring and the interest in my dad's personal needs
(which can be complicated and at times rather exacting) and the review of his circumstances have been thorough. The GP in attendance is caring and interested, as are the nursing staff, whom I have witnessed in action and who telephone me regularly to update me on his situation. Without exception, the carers I meet are polite and cheerful and always attentive. This has been an extremely challenging year, for him and for all the family, and I am enormously grateful for the role all the staff at Pavilion Court now have in the care and well being of my father; they treat him with care, patience and dignity and he is more settled, stable and at ease than I have seen him for a long time.

First impressions count for a lot and my first impression was that this care home was 'underfunded' in appearance. My aunt and uncle were transferred together from the hospital at short notice which we appreciate. They were placed in a dementia unit neither having dementia but we were grateful they
were together. Points - Both rooms had missing light bulbs, handles falling from drawers, generally neglected. The light fitting in one room was damaged. The carers met were great.

My expectations were not high but after arriving at the entrance my first impressions were less than good. It looked unkempt and uncared for with lots of deliveries just dumped in the hall. Not welcoming at all. My aunt and uncle have separate rooms, no light bulbs in lamps or pendant lights, handles
hanging off drawers and an old table (from god knows where!). It is obvious that this care home needs a lot of love and attention. It is not homely in the slightest.

The manager is fantastic and has developed the home a lot since COVID. She is approachable and really cares about residents, family and staff. The residents have Alzheimer’s and I think it is appalling to change the manager when residents need familiarity as change can be frightening for them. She creates
a supportive and caring environment and fosters a positive and inclusive culture within the care home. She encourages open communication, respect for residents and staff, and creates an atmosphere where everyone feels valued and heard. She develops strong relationships and establishes good relationships with residents, their families, and staff members. The manager shows empathy and listens actively. On behalf of the families, a lot of families will remove their residents because the manager has done so much for them. I really hope that you will reconsider your decision to remove a fantastic manager who has already done so much and will do more to make the home outstanding if you give her time.

I would recommend this care home because they make all the residents feel like they are at home, they change them every day, and get them in and out of bed so the residents can interact with other residents and family!

My grandad has been in Pavilion Court for just over a year and was bed bound, he was always wanted to be in a chair or wheelchair, the staff have been amazing, he is now out of bed every day he goes to the dining room and the lounge every day too, he has his good days and bad but the staff are amazing
they make him feel at home and they always have a laugh and carry on with him which he loves they always treat him like he's part of the family. I would highly recommend Pavilion Court to anyone they treat the residents with dignity and respect and as a family, we can't thank them enough.

My father was bedbound when he first went into the home. He was lonely, bored and shouted quite a lot. Since January he has been hoisted out of bed and taken to the day room where he is much happier, seems a lot more alert, and is able to socialise with the other residents. He is also taken to the dining
room for his meals now instead of being alone in his room. The staff and carers treat my dad with respect and dignity. Whatever he requires the staff and carers do their best to supply it, even when he requests a cup of tea at least every half an hour. The home is very welcoming and they keep you informed of any problems or incidents regarding my father.

My dad entered Pavilion Court under the lockdown. Although we were unable to visit for a long time due to Government restrictions, the staff kept us fully informed as to how he was doing and arranged phone calls and facetime with him. Since we have been able to visit, we can see how well he has been
looked after and how professional, helpful and friendly all the staff are.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.561)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.561) out of 10 for Pavilion Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.611 for Pavilion Court is calculated as follows: ( (141 Excellents x 5) + (58 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 211 Ratings = 4.611
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Pavilion Court is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 75 registered maximum number of service users is 15, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
