When my sister and I were viewing potential care homes for our father, we immediately knew that Pavilion Court was the right one which would meet the needs to offer care for our father due to the professionalism and personal touch displayed. Although our father has been in the care home for 24 hours
we have seen an improvement already and cannot recommend the care and attention already received and given.

Having the unfortunate need to place my Mam in nursing care (although she is quite able but forgets to eat and drink) I shopped around visited many on spec and read the CQC reports I decided on Pavilion Court despite their CQC report being not so good the feeling and the welcome I got when I visited
the home made me choose it, it just felt right, i'm sure you all know that feeling when you walk into somewhere and it feels right!. The first room she was in was lovely and had an alarmed door into the garden however my Mam kept opening the door and setting the alarm off so without any fuss the staff helped me move my Mam into another room at my request where she settled lovely...however after few weeks I decided it was a bit quiet after one of my Mams friends moved out so I changed my Mam into another home with my Mams involvement, but after 5 days for various reasons she wasn't happy and couldn't settle and her behaviour at times was challenging according to the staff in the new place! I rang Pavilion where my Mams behaviour was often the same but they seemed to be able to deal with it and calm her down and asked could I possibly take her back to live there. I have to commend the staff and most of all the new manageress in Pavilion Court for making this traumatic time run smoothly for my Mam and my family the manageress was highly recommended by a social worker I spoke to as being brilliant at her job of turning the negative into positive. You can make cups of tea and eat biscuits in their hall or your room any time you visit, they are a very friendly bunch of carers and it's true they are there for the family's too. I could go on but obviously got to stop somewhere, in this instance the CQC report doesn't do Pavilion Court justice , go on personal experience. Obviously everywhere has their good staff and some not so good just as some have good days and bad days but when I go into Pavilion Court it's like going home as far as feeling we belong there.

We would like to thank this lady very much for taking the time to give Pavilion Court such a glowing review. We have noticed, however, that her opinion of the activities in the home is poor. We like…read more

The service provided is basically ok but could benefit from some more staff.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score
The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:
5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.
The Average Rating of 4.509 for Pavilion Court is calculated as follows:
(
(95 Excellents x 5)
+
(60 Goods x 4)
+
(9 Satisfactorys x 3)
+
(1 Poors x 2)
)
÷ 165 Ratings = 4.509
5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').
The 4.933 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Pavilion Court is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews.
(1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100)

1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points.
20% of the 75 registered maximum number of service users is 15. 14 Positive Reviews ÷ 15 = 0.933
When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Inspection ratings
We rate most services according to how safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led they are, using four levels:
Outstanding - the service is performing exceptionally well.
Good - the service is performing well and meeting our expectations.
Requires improvement - the service isn't performing as well as it should and we have told the service how it must improve.
Inadequate - the service is performing badly and we've taken enforcement action against the provider of the service.
No rating/under appeal/rating suspended - there are some services which we can't rate, while some might be under appeal from the provider. Suspended ratings are being reviewed by us and will be published soon.
Ticks and crosses
We don't rate every type of service. For services we haven't rated we use ticks and crosses to show whether we've asked them to take further action or taken enforcement action against them.
There's no need for the service to take further action. If this service has not had a CQC inspection since it registered with us, our judgement may be based on our assessment of declarations and evidence supplied by the service.
The service must make improvements.
At least one standard in this area was not being met when we inspected the service and we have taken enforcement action.
Care Quality Commission is responsible for the registration and inspection of social care services in England.
