When we first realised we could no longer care for Mam at home we were so worried a care home wouldn't take the same great care of her. We needn't have worried, Charlton Court Care Home was excellent in every way. From the beginning, the staff were both very friendly and professional and took great care of our mam. I am not allowed to single anyone out but in truth, all the staff were lovely and caring and treat Mam with great dignity. We could also see how they treat all of their patients individually and compassionately. Mam always said she wanted to go to sleep - looking all neat and tidy and that is exactly what she got. It was of course very sad but also beautiful. Thank you so much for all you did for her and us - her family.

Garden party indoors because of the weather, never stopped laughing, the staff worked their socks off yet kept smiling and laughing, and the residents loved it, but everything you call the feel is always the same. You can realise why the home is always in demand.

Visit - Covid test, waited thirty minutes for results, then went on to visit Nanna. When went to the back garden for test as directed, gate wasn't open so had to go back to home to advise gate wasn't open, then had to go back to garden.

Staff friendly, a little cold while waiting for results for thirty minutes.

The staff are all excellent in looking after my mum, especially in a very difficult year with Covid etc and extra pressures that they had. They have tried so hard to facilitate visiting and calls whilst looking after residents. Lots of staff have been there for a while and know residents well and the staff who do the entertainment/stimulation etc for residents are so dedicated and enthusiastic. Feel communication from management i.e. via updates on email or other ways has been lacking at times as could send generic messages out to relatives that wouldn't take much time.

Staff are very caring and have a good rapport with residents. Within the care home there are sufficient areas for residents to socialise with one another. The rooms themselves may be basic, but actually, they meet the needs of my father and above all are kept clean. It is reassuring to know my father is being well looked after and I am eternally grateful to all of the staff at Charlton Court for this.

As my wife was admitted during 'Covid' I am unable to give much of a review due to only half-hour visits once a week. I was unable to see much of the establishment, however what little staff I met were very friendly and helpful, although I could do with more spontaneous feedback. My wife seems to have settled quite well and I am quite satisfied with her treatment.

Charlton Court has been creative in managing through covid, ensuring relatives retain the ability to talk to and to see the residents. Charlton Court installed an outside tent so relatives could visit but remain covered, then with full lockdown, they ensured incoming calls were prioritised and introduced a monthly video call for the relatives led by the Charlton Court Manager. This allowed 2-way communication and ensured the relatives were up to date with what was happening. Whilst it was frustrating for everyone not to have face-to-face visits, these calls reassured us that all was OK and gave us an insight into what actions and activities the home was taking.
Charlton Court has been flexible on relative visits as their opening hours are not compatible with my work hours so they have allowed occasional out of hours visits which I am really grateful for.

The staff are great, very professional, enthusiastic, always smiling and really show empathy to the residents and relatives. It makes for a relaxing, enjoyable environment.

There is no good time to put a much loved Dad into care, but this year has proved to be so hard for us, as the family members, but also my dad!
For the staff who work in the home, this has been such a horrific time, they are suffering the same way as the relatives who can't see their loved ones as often as they would like to.

As a relative, I have nothing but admiration for them all and the work they do.

Mam has been in Charlton Court since January 2019 and has settled in wonderfully. I cannot say enough about the wonderful staff and the care they give mam. I moved her from another home, where she sat in her room all day and did not socialise at all, to a warm, friendly and inviting place where mam is encouraged to socialise with the other residents, who are all fabulous, may I just say. Mam has now made friends and enjoys eating and sitting in the lounge, she has put on weight and her general quality of life is so much better than it was.

As I live overseas, it is comforting to know that mam is happy and content living at Charlton Court, I get regular updates and visit as often as I can, it is always a delight to see everyone.

I thank you all for the wonderful job you do, all special people in my book.

This is my second review of Charlton Court. I am writing a second review because my Mother-in-law is now almost into her first year at this care home.
Her general health has improved and she is fitter and healthier now than she was 1 year ago. She is encouraged to join in many of the activities that are provided on a daily basis but if she feels she doesn't want to join in she doesn't need to.
My husband and myself are more than satisfied with her care and we are always kept up to date by all the carers and management. The new manager is very friendly and always makes us feel welcome when we visit.

We are more than satisfied with the care my mother-in-law has received over the last twelve months.

I am currently satisfied with the service but it could be improved by additional staff and more activities in the dementia unit. However, I will be involved in the dementia review that is about to take place so well hopefully see some improvements. Also, the quality of the furniture and fittings in residents rooms could be improved.

I saw about 17 care homes before I visited Charlton Court.
I couldn't believe my luck when I found it. The first thing that struck me was the lack of smell. I was very impressed from the first moment. The care is excellent. The attitude of both the carers and management is very impressive.

No one wishes to see a parent having to go into a home but I couldn't be happier. My mother is well looked after, well fed and very safe. And it wasn't the most expensive! Well done Charlton Court.

My uncle was admitted to Charlton Court to recuperate after breaking his hip in a fall. The staff were warm and friendly from the very start, dealing with his initial fear and anger extremely well. Within days, he was settled and started to engage with staff and other residents. After a few months, he was discharged home a different man, happier and healthier. Charlton Court is a very cosy and welcoming place, not only for the residents but for the family too.

I can't recommend the home and staff highly enough.

My uncle spent almost 3 months here following a hospital admission for a hip fracture. He received excellent care, kindness and support, despite his initial reluctance and he quickly developed a respect and fondness for his carers and much appreciated their help.

We were also grateful for the staff's patience and care of our uncle and we were always met with great friendliness when we visited.

My Mother was cared for at Charlton Court for only a few weeks before she died in November 2016.
However, in that short time, though she was very poorly and didn't have long to live, the warmth, care and support offered to her and to our family was wonderful.
My Mother was very impressed with the staff team, telling us that she felt safe and well cared for, and we witnessed directly on lots of occasions the extra lengths the staff went to give her comfort and to encourage her to eat and drink.

During this very difficult time, their compassion and kindness meant so much.

Mum required nursing care following a discharge from the hospital. Charlton Court was able to meet her needs. Mum settled in immediately as the Court was so homely and all staff welcoming and friendly. The care provided I could not fault. From being a lady who needed a lot of coaxing, she soon joined in the many activities and entertainment. Towards the end of her life, the palliative care was given professionally and tenderly. The staff treated mum with respect and dignity. Nothing was too much trouble. I thank them all for giving mum such care.

My mother entered Charlton Court just over a year ago straight from hospital, a very ill lady indeed. She has just celebrated her 100th birthday and friends and relatives are amazed at how well she is doing, and how nice the home is. My mother is articulate and she is content. She thinks all of the staff are lovely and look after her well. I couldn't be happier knowing she is in good hands.

My wife was an emergency admission. From the start she was treated with kindness and dignity and was always talked to in kindly (and not too loud) tones. The staff took an interest in her past and also her current welfare and always treated her as an individual - even someone they might like as a friend. Her medical and physical were always promptly dealt with - without any fuss. In total, her last few weeks and days were clam, happy and full of friendship. The staff also dealt with relatives on an excellently friendly basis. Access for them was always easy and they were kept fully formed. Well done.
