At Prince’s Court Care Home the staff pride themselves on giving visitors a warm and welcoming greeting when they arrive, whoever they are. That’s what you’d expect, because Prince’s Court is in North Shields, close to Newcastle and in the North East people are known for their friendliness and hospitality.

Staff at the home are very professional, committed and caring, and work hard to forge close relationships with residents, getting to know as much as possible the residents’ individual needs, their likes and dislikes – to really know and understand them. They do the same with their families and friends, who they encourage to visit and get involved in activities, as much as possible.

Regular resident meetings are held, where they discuss what’s happening in the home and every effort is made to get them to be part of the decision-making process and to be involved in the running of the home.

One of Piper Court’s priorities is to enrich the residents’ lives, physically and mentally and so give them the best quality of life that they are able to enjoy, depending on their abilities. This can be as simple as having a chat, doing person

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 7 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Prince's Court in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.848 for Prince's Court is calculated as follows: ( (68 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 79 Ratings = 4.848

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

The 4.017 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Prince's Court is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Princes Court - wow what can I say. My grandma went to the home in March. The family couldn't ask for better staff and the level of checking on the patients is fantastic. I could not think of a better place where my grandma could have been. That why the family picked Prince's Court.

I would highly recommend this care home, the management is fab, excellent staff levels so please visit this nursing home. If you are in the processes of putting your loved one in a nursing home, the cleaning is fab. They came in my grandma room every day and clean the units and clean the toilet. So why don't you came along for a visit before you put your loved one in this fab nursing home?

My elderly mother was transferred to Princes Court after a very traumatic couple of weeks following admission to the local hospital. She spent her final few days in room 28. The care she received in order to make her passing as dignified and pain-free as possible was exemplary. Also, the compassion shown by staff, in particular, the deputy manager, the two male nurses who led the staff team overnight and the visiting female doctor could not be faulted. My sister and I are also extremely grateful for the caring and support we and the family received at this very difficult time.

My father lived at Princes Court for almost a year and passed away here a couple of days ago. The staff were compassionate and professional. I was a nurse and another family member is an NHS consultant: we know what excellent care is and that is what my father received at Princes Court. The whole family are eternally grateful for that, thank you.

Recently a relative was transferred from hospital to Prince's Court for what turned out to be end of life care. She was too ill to use the facilities and was there for too short a time for me to comment properly on value for money - other than to say that the care given was priceless.
All the staff I met were brilliant but I do have to mention the nursing staff in particular, who treated my aunt with such care and kindness. I was perfectly happy to go home for a few days (some 300 miles away) and not worry that she was being looked after. The staff managed her pain and obvious distress with great compassion but still managed to give relatives a few moments of quality time with her towards the end.
As relatives, we were also looked after - communication with relatives was excellent at all times.
I will always remember the nursing staff were as upset at losing a patient, as we were at losing an aunt.

This care home is outstanding. My mother was transferred to it for private care in the last 12 days of her life. Every member of staff, from cleaners to carers, to nurses to doctors were amazing. Caring, friendly, professional, sympathetic and genuine. Every member of staff was friendly, welcoming and kind. This extended to every member of family who visited. I cannot praise this home highly enough. A big thank you.

Excellent care and facilities - residents and families are treat like one of the family. Excellent and approachable management and staff. Good activities programme with a growing residents and family committee which ensures that everything happening in the facility is discussed and agreed. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a stable, nurturing and safe residence for their loved ones.

My mum has been in Prince's Court as a patient on the palliative side for five months during this time mums care and support has been second to none. As well as caring for family members during this very upsetting time. The manager is first class and very hands on, she is totally approachable and I feel able to talk to her about mums on going care. The carers are fantastic and work extremely hard providing extra support to us all. Standards of cleaning are first class and the rooms are cleaned regularly. Mum is treated with care and dignity and all her needs are met. First class home.
