At Prince’s Court Care Home the staff pride themselves on giving visitors a warm and welcoming greeting when they arrive, whoever they are. That’s what you’d expect, because Prince’s Court is in North Shields, close to Newcastle and in the North East people are known for their friendliness and hospitality.

Staff at the home are very professional, committed and caring, and work hard to forge close relationships with residents, getting to know as much as possible the residents’ individual needs, their likes and dislikes – to really know and understand them. They do the same with their families and friends, who they encourage to visit and get involved in activities, as much as possible.

Regular resident meetings are held, where they discuss what’s happening in the home and every effort is made to get them to be part of the decision-making process and to be involved in the running of the home.

One of Prince's Court’s priorities is to enrich the residents’ lives, physically and mentally and so give them the best quality of life that they are able to enjoy, depending on their abilities. This can be as simple as having a chat, doing person

This was rehabilitation care. Accommodation and food very good, above satisfaction. Nice to have physio, etc., all in one place. Certainly aided recovery. While my house was being adapted. Staff outstanding.

I thought it was an excellent experience. Everything was well organised. Staff were most helpful, friendly, and all willing to make you feel better. The physios were amazing and worked hard to get you to do your best without making you push. All staff were fantastic.

A very good place to get rehab but lacks a day room with TV and games. Where patients can meet and help each other. Sadly missed by all.

Staff very pleasant, helpful and friendly. Facilities generally good - bed not comfortable, pillows inadequate. Food tends to be comfort food more than healthy - could be improved.

Since coming to Prince's Court I have had proper care and attention specific to my needs. My mood is lifted. I feel a lot more positive in reaching full health and capabilities once more. Staff are considerate and discreet, and respectful. Physiotherapy is tailored to my needs and every consideration
is taken into account. Highy commendable rehabilitation centre.

Carers correctly support patients rather than doing things for them. This ensures that going forward the patient can rebuild a normal life. I was a little disappointed with physio as having been in the unit before and receiving physiotherapy my expectations were the same. This is purely down to resourcing,
nothing to do with the physios themselves. Good service from everyone involved in my care, made easier by having been here before.

I have found the staff at Prince's Court very cheerful and very helpful to my requests with my brother-in-law's needs (he suffers from multiple health problems and is now terminally ill). It is always clean and smell-free in all areas.

Prince's Court was outstanding, following my surgery. I have so much admiration for the staff as they work so hard. They all have a professional manner. The physio treatment was Mon-Fri and was superb. If you want to help yourself, they go above and beyond. My elderly mother was in a care home and unfortunately
no longer with us. I wish I had known about Prince's Court for her.

Prince's Court is the only place we felt comfortable placing my dad. My dad was really happy.
A special thanks to Martha and her team. They took the time to get to know my dad looking past his dementia.
Prince's Court is the best around, all staff are great and the whole place is extremely clean.

I am delighted about how Dad has settled into Prince's Court. I have been impressed at the care that Dad receives from the staff and how well they have got to know him and his needs. The whole team are always welcoming to me and my family, as well as our dog Hattie. Nothing has been too much trouble
to arrange. I am particularly over the moon that Prince's Court have facilitated my Dad being able to see my Mum who is in another care home each week. They realised that seeing Mum is vital for his wellbeing and prioritised this. Today I was able to book out a room to bring my mum's cousin and my mum to visit Dad. This was the first time the three of them had been together in years.
I know that Dad is safe and well cared for and this means so much. Thank you.

Princes Court provided a friendly, caring and professional home for our dear friend. He required nursing care and was treat with dignity and respect throughout his time there. He was provided with a nice clean room with private facilities with appropriate safety measures in place.

Princes Court is

a bright and airy building with spacious corridors and handrails on either side, communal day rooms and gardens for residents and family to enjoy. Residents are encouraged to take part in their activities programme bringing them together. The meals are extremely good - all home cooked food - varied menus and enjoyed very much by our friend.

Our admiration and thanks go to all the staff in Princes Court from management to nurses, to all caring staff, the catering team and cleaners, all of whom do an amazing job.

In our opinion we would have no reservations about choosing this Care Home for your loved one.

Well done to Princes Court

We were reluctant to place our mum in a care home, but due to progressing dementia, we had no option. A room was available at Prince's Court. She receives excellent care and settled quickly. Our mum appears to be content here. The manager is lovely and the staff are great. Our mum is treated with care
and dignity. I can't praise the staff and manager enough. I would definitely recommend Prince's Court to others. Thank you for caring for our mum.

I was admitted to Royal Quay's intermediate care unit following a fall resulting in a broken leg and muscle deconditioning. From arriving on the unit to being discharged, the service of care of all the team has been excellent. The physio team are brilliant and take such care and consideration of everyone
they support on their way to recovery. The unit itself has a lovely, friendly feel to it and the carers make everyone feel at ease and relaxed. I can't praise the staff enough for all of the help I received during my time there.

Since entering the rehabilitation centre, 4 weeks ago, I have found the service given to be outstanding. The food was wonderful; plenty of variety and always hot. Every member of staff was friendly and polite and above all ready to give help whenever needed. I must admit to being very emotional when
saying goodbye to staff.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.621)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.621) out of 10 for Prince's Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 34 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.621 for Prince's Court is calculated as follows: ( (283 Excellents x 5) + (94 Goods x 4) + (18 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (4 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 401 Ratings = 4.621
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Prince's Court is based on 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 75 registered maximum number of service users is 15, which has been reached with 33 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
