I would just like to say thank you very much for the care and affection you gave to Dad while in your care. During the 28 months, he spent in the home until his death on 30th Dec 2019,

he was always made to feel special by all the staff. This was evident in how upset everyone was when Dad passed away. He was always treated with dignity and respect at all times not just when he passed away. The staff in the home are all a credit to the care profession. Thank you so much for this.

We chose Falstone Manor because of its prime seafront location. More modern than other Care Homes we also visited. The first point is great rooms good facilities, wide corridors, proper lifts to the 3 floors. The second point, make sure you visit care homes without an appointment. See how things look on a normal day. For mam on the first day we helped complete a long questionnaire about diet, habits likes etc and everything seemed good. Then we found the Care staff on the floor were very nice especially at visiting times. Mams not happy and she hasn't settled into the care home environment. A major downside of this place is that it's difficult for us trying to get feedback about how mams doing. We've had no involvement in any review of mams Care Plan in 12 months despite it being asked for a number of times. This Care Home is run by a large organisation, HC One and managers and Directors don't properly engage with immediate families of residents. It's not right but that's what happens.

Thank you for your review, we value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. Thank you for your positive comments about our home environment and facilities. Our staff work hard to deliver kind, quality care and we are very sorry you feel that your Mother has not settled...

My Mum was in the Falstone Manor Nursing Home in Sunderland for three years and I cannot fault the care she received throughout that time. All the staff were so caring, as I and my family live in Somerset, I was initially concerned about not being able to check on her welfare as often as I’d like. I need not have worried - every visit, coupled with regular telephone updates, meant that I was continually reassured about my Mum’s condition.
Every member of staff I came into contact with was exceptionally caring and all the residents I saw were treated with respect and dignity and, even though the care staff are always very busy, they still find time for a chat and a joke with residents.

The home itself was always clean and welcoming, and it really was a pleasure to visit. Those that were able to interact with the caring staff were clearly happy and indeed we spent some very amusing hours listening to their stories and jokes. A very big Thank You to all staff.

It wasn't an easy decision to put Mam into a care home but couldn't have chosen a better one. Kind, friendly staff who showed Mam lots of love and helped to retain her dignity through difficult times. Would highly recommend this nursing home, which has a lovely position overlooking the sea.

I would like to thank the staff at Falstone Manor for their ongoing care of my dad. They are very attentive to his physical and mental wellbeing. Too many people to name individually but they are all extremely attentive and caring. Particular mention must go to one individual who has provided much needed male companionship and support to my dad. I would like to thank you all.

Falstone Manor was purpose built as a Care Home, it's obviously well suited to the purpose and is in a prime seafront location with great views. Parking is always available. Three floors have about 50 rooms which cater for different levels of need. Our mam is on middle floor pays extra £100 a month for sea view. It mostly smells fresh due to the sea breezes and cleaning and care staff, in general, do a good job. Having visited a few homes before settling on this one we are relatively pleased with the standard of care. The residents are served meals in the restaurant on set tables. Our mam doesn't eat very well so we are keeping an eye on her intake. Some activities are arranged centred around the main lounge. Many of the care staff are first rate. You can tell they are dedicated to providing a kind caring service. Rooms have own toilet but shower room is shared. Some rooms are larger than others. Mams room could be a bit bigger to accommodate things she needs like wheelchair etc.

In my point of view, the nursing staff and management are always kind and polite and keep myself up to date with any issues regarding my relative. I feel at ease knowing he's safe and well treated with love and dignity, kept clean and tidy and would recommend to anyone in the same position. Excellent, many thanks.

My mother needed palliative care and I couldn't have her with me (not enough room) and I didn't want to live with her so I choose Falstone Manor Care Home because it had a lovely feeling when I first went to look at it and, after she went in, still have the same feeling. It is 5 mins in the car from my home and I go most days. I love to go as everyone is so warm/friendly to Mam as well as me and when I leave, I know they look after her as I would, so I never had to worry about her.

My father went into care in June 2017. After looking at many places we choose Falstone Manor due to its location, rooms, cleanliness as each time we visit there is never any "smells". Father settled in well, staff are brilliant with him and medical needs are met. Nothing is a bother to them and any concerns are dealt with immediately.
He had his 100th birthday recently and everyone at the home made it a day to remember arranging a party, entertainment etc.

The staff were absolutely brilliant. Everyone who attended couldn't believe how nice a place it was with a lot of people wanting to put their names down.

The staff at Falstone Manor are exceptional. They cared for my mother with the utmost dignity, respect and with such compassion. All her basic care needs catered for to such a high standard but they also cared for us as a family, we felt consulted with, our opinions valued and we were listened to. The GP who oversees the home and the team from St Benedicts Hospice also deserve a mention, who again treated mum with dignity, respect and compassion. To all of you, a huge thank you, this made such a difference to our final weeks with mam.

My previous job was working for NHS delivering and fitting equipment in the community and care homes.
Falstone Manor Care Home comes very high in care and quality compared to a lot of establishments.

But not enough care staff.

Overall the care my aunt receives is very good and she likes very much the environment it provides, both accommodation and meals. However, there have been a couple of issues namely attention to her hearing aids - putting in and removal and storage, and her dentures in the same way. This has been brought up several times and reviewed with the nurse in charge. The attention to the aforementioned has greatly improved but there are still issues where the procedure has not been followed.
