Overall Experience

Sadly my grandmother experienced several failings by some of the staff (predominantly the manager who has since left and a senior nurse - unit manager). My grandmother was not treated with the respect and dignity that she deserved. Procedures were not followed within timescales which meant an alleged serious incident could not be properly investigated by the police. Senior management were rude and were often heard cursing in the corridors. My grandma was often found without a blanket and she was left in a room without a television months on end - she was ultimately left to stare at a wall for stimulation. The home manager refused me entry to undertake a planned visit due to covid. As I was classed as an essential visitor, I have recently learned that she was wrong to deny me access to visit my grandma. Unfortunately my grandma died shortly after, that manager denied me a final opportunity to speak to my grandma one last time. I would not recommend this home at all.

Please accept our sincerest condolences for your loss.

As an organisation, it is obviously extremely disappointing and concerning when we become aware of issues within a home, whereby the quality of care we deliver falls below the high standards we would expect. The issues and concerns...

During my mother's short stay at Ayresome Court, all the staff looking after her were truly amazing with her care, support, and attending to her needs with dignity and respect. I also appreciated that I was kept informed and updated when my mother was ill and needed to get professional help from nurses or doctors. On visits to my mother, the staff were most welcoming and friendly and very informative and polite when I asked after my mother's well-being.

Couldn't have found a better nursing home for my beautiful Grandma. They went above and beyond with the care they provided for her in the short time she was with them. The staff/management are all fantastic, always welcoming and there if needed anything, and would always ask if would like a drink which was so nice. My Grandma's room was always clean and she was always clean and made comfortable. Couldn't find a better place than this one. Highly recommended 100%.

My wife was in the care home for 5 and a half weeks. She received excellent care and nursing. The staff were considerate, caring, and friendly and worked in a professional manner. The meals were good and the rooms were satisfactory.

Following the death of my father, I brought my mother from Somerset to Ayresome Court as she could not remain at home alone. I was impressed by the friendly welcome we received, and continued to be impressed by the care and attention my mother received, an increasingly difficult task as my mother's health declined. After she sadly passed away, I was grateful for all the help and kindness from all the staff. They were all brilliant. Many thanks.

On the whole, I was very well treated at his care home. In fact, apart from one carer I was extremely well looked after and would offer the home my full support. It so happens that this one individual who was somewhat offhand in manner had not had a dose of vaccine although offered it in/by the home when I was speaking to her. I believe that with all carers this should be mandatory.

A very good care home with friendly, caring staff who during the pandemic have provided the love and attention which sadly we have been unable to give personally. They have protected our loved ones and minimised any covid effects whilst still providing contact via video calls. I would not hesitate to recommend this nursing home both for the care of a loved one and also for the peace of mind that it gives to a family in making the decision for care.

My father has been a resident now for 4 months. It has been, as is often the case, a tricky settling in period which the staff have shown exceptional patience and a very professional, caring attitude towards him. This has made the transition as smooth as possible. They continue to seek ways to stimulate his interest and to make his stay as comfortable as possible. All along the way they have kept family regularly advised of any issues.

My father was first admitted for respite. He settled in straight away. Unfortunately, he was then diagnosed with terminal cancer, so he then went on to palliative care. I can't speak highly enough of all the staff who were involved with Dad, from cleaners to nurses.
He was treated with great care and respect by all.

Thank you.

Although my aunt was only in the home for 1 week before she died, the care she received was exemplary. They created a friendly, homely, safe and caring environment so she was happy, content and supported.

She had a pain free, calm and dignified death, thanks to the wonderful, organised and professional staff. This care continued after her death in the kindness and support shown to us, her family.

Room only concern, otherwise perfect. TV - US. The mattress was very very very uncomfortable. Handyman off sick, very very very missed. Must be replaced, otherwise small jobs built up. Girls do very good keeping the place going. Nothing too much trouble.

Staff extremely approachable and friendly. Sometimes communication not so good when regarding the health of resident i.e. getting to see the doctor. The food seems wholesome and healthy and my Father in Law obviously likes it! The room is kept extremely clean and in good repair. Any problems with maintenance sorted very quickly. Staff communicate problems with the family regarding residents i.e. when a fall occurs and very diligent following these occasions.

My Mother in Law is completely happy and content at Ayresome Court. She thoroughly appreciated the banter with staff when they see her in her room. She doesn't often want to take part in activities but enjoys those she does take part in. She is most definitely treated with dignity and it is obvious that many of the staff are very fond of her.

What a wonderful home. Staff are always cheerful and ready to assist whenever needed. As for the dining room, it is as welcoming as any restaurant I've been to and the food is as good. I do think £1.50 for visitors is far too cheap and it is so nice to be able to come and have a meal with mum.
